Michael Marion Vaughn, 76

Michael Marion Vaughn, 76, beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, was called gently home by his Lord on Saturday, May 10, 2025. Those who knew him can attest to his strong spirit, wry sense of humor, and valiant, years-long struggle with chronic illness.

He was born on July 29, 1948, in Princeton, Indiana, to Marion and Florence (Woods) Vaughn. He is now joyfully reunited with them as well as his brother, Mel Vaughn, sister-in-law, Shari; sister, Phyllis (Vaughn) Lagow and other loved ones, including Mike Hargrave and Rick Henson.

Mike graduated from Mount Carmel High School in 1966. He proudly served his country, joining the Marine Corps and serving in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970 and was honorably discharged in 1974. While in the Marines, he attended language school to learn Vietnamese. Upon his return to civilian life, he worked at Flintkote, then as a carpenter and roofer. Mike was very handy with tools and knew how to fix just about anything. He was a member of the V.F.W and the First General Baptist Church.

Mike is survived by brother-in-law, Jim (Judy) Lagow; nephews, Kip Lagow, Scott (Ronda) Lagow and Mike Lagow; nieces, Melinda (Vaughn) Henson and Cindy (Steve) Yonaka; many great-nieces and nephews. Beyond his family, Mike was also blessed with especially loving and supportive friends, Donnie Fiscus, George Timberlake, John A. Walter, and Rocky Wrye, who became good buddies with Mike during high school, or in some cases even before, and remained close to him throughout his life. He treasured those relationships and others, such as his caring and devoted pastor and friend, Gary Underwood, and another great pal, Timmy Weiss. He will be deeply missed by all these and more, including Jacob and Zachary Malcolm.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Highland Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Gary Underwood officiating.

Nina Fern (Deffendall) Howard, 81

Nina Fern (Deffendall) Howard, 81, of Mount Carmel, Illinois passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025 at Oakview Nursing and Rehab surrounded by her family. She was born on May 2, 1944 in Bridgeport, Illinois, the daughter of Gilbert and Margaret (Farley) Deffendall. She married Gary Howard, Sr. on July 1, 1961 in Bridgeport, Illinois and together they enjoyed sixty-three years of marriage centered around their family. When they were able, Nina and Gary loved taking nightly drives to Beall’s Woods State Park while enjoying nature.

Nina will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and Meemaw. Her greatest pride and joy were her family, and she held her grandchildren and great-grandchildren especially close to her heart. In her younger years, Nina found joy in bowling and formed many cherished friendships as a member of a women's bowling league. Nina dedicated much of her adult life to working at Mount Carmel Apparel and also spent time employed at a clothing factory in Albion. Nina was incredibly talented and creative, often sewing clothes for her daughters and crafting thoughtful, handmade gifts for family and friends. She also enjoyed tending her flower beds and going to craft shows.

Nina loved her family and loved going out to eat and attend country concerts with her sisters. In the summer, Nina, loved being on the water boating with her family. Nina was an avid reader and loved to relax with a good book. She was baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mount Carmel. She will be missed by her family and all who knew her.

Nina will be remembered by her husband, Gary Howard, Sr.; three children, Benita Tarlton, Angie Campbell, and Gary Howard, Jr.; seven grandchildren, Bethany Stephens, Jeff Tarlton, Michael Tarlton, Erica Cooper, Tanner Campbell, Becky Smith, and Keri Howard; twelve great-grandchildren, Abram, Sammy and Meili Tarlton, Jason Ford, Blake, Brice, Jackson, and Finn Cooper, Theo and Lily Campbell, Willow and Thorn Smith; brother, Michael Deffendall; sisters, Maris Schonaman, and Debbie (Jahn) Sundstrom; many loved cousins, nieces and nephews. Nina was preceded in death by her parents.

Melba Eloise Anderson, 89

Melba Eloise Anderson, 89, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, peacefully passed away Saturday, May 10, 2025, at The Heritage Center in Evansville, Indiana.

Melba was born September 20, 1935, at Mt. Carmel, Illinois, the daughter of Howard and Opal (Brines) Maidlow. She was a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School. She married Don Anderson and upon his death, they had been married 52 years.

She was a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, and Daughters of the Nile. Melba worked as a clothing inspector for Johnnye Manufacturing.

Left to cherish Melba’s memory are her children Janet (Mike) Kiel of Arlington, Virginia, Terry (Leo) Zimmer of Evansville, Indiana and Bernie (Carla) Drone of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Casie (Adam) Bizuwork, Isaac (Sarah) Kiel, Natalie (Ryan) Kassenbrock, Todd (Amber) Zimmer, Samantha (Jake) Newkirk, Sabrina (Josh) Staub, Jake (Hilary) Drone and Joe (Kayla) Drone; 18 great-grandchildren; siblings, Erma Flummerfelt of Ames, Iowa and Nelda Mark of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.

Robert E. “Hairy Bob” Rosignol, 63

Robert E. “Hairy Bob” Rosignol, 63, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at home. He was born on September 11, 1961, in Mount Carmel, the son of Gilbert and Linda (Hollen) Rosignol.

Bob was a hard-working man at any job he took on. He worked in construction, helping with Richard Gochenour Construction. Bob also worked in the oil fields with Armstrong Well Service and farmed for Buchanan Farms. He was always ready to help where he was needed. In his spare time, he greatly enjoyed spending time outdoors in nature where he loved to go hunting and fishing. Bob will be missed by his family and friends.

Bob leaves behind his sister, Teresia Henry; brother, Kevin Rosignol and fiancé Carrie Richeson; three nieces, Chelsea Rosignol, Alexandria Whitmer, and Christina Henry; many special friends with whom he treasured their friendships.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents.

Patrick H. Oskins, 76

Patrick H. Oskins, 76, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Wabash General Hospital surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on March 16, 1949 in Harrisburg, Illinois, the son of Walden C. and Dorothy E. (Walton) Oskins. Patrick married Cindy Goss on May 27, 1977 in Vincennes, Indiana and together they celebrated forty-seven years of marriage.

Patrick faithfully served his Country in the United States Coast Guard, where he dedicated himself to the mission of search and rescue. Patrick was a devoted and hardworking man who spent many years as a coal miner. Throughout his career, he formed lasting friendships, and his height earned him the nickname 'Big O' among his fellow miners. Patrick treasured time spent with his family and was the happiest when he was spending time outdoors. He loved being in the woods deer hunting and also took great pride in taking care of his yard. His presence will be missed by his family and friends.

Patrick will be remembered by his wife, Cindy; his three sons, Jason Oskins and wife, Cynthia, Josh Oskins, and Jeffery Oskins; grandson, Joey Oskins; sister, Joella Oskins; many loved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ronnie, Gary, and Jimmy Oskins.

Sandra was born December 2, 1946, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, the daughter of James A. Helton and Betty Lou (Smith) Helton.

In August of 1964, she married Ernest W. Kimmel in Mt. Carmel, Illinois and to this union 4 beautiful children were born: Stacey Kimmel, Sonya McDaniel, Sandy Keneipp, and Art Kimmel.

Sandra was a customer service manager at Ayr-Way and Target and was a CNA who worked in local nursing homes. She loved being in the sun and at the river camp. Sandra enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the neighborhood kids. She was an avid Elvis Presley fan.

Sandra is survived by her children, Stacey (Donald Kamp) Kimmel, Sonya (Dave) McDaniel, Sandy (Dennis) Keneipp, and Art (Crystal) Kimmel; 17 grandchildren, Sara, Nathan, Brandon, Casey, Jessica, Samantha, Jennifer, Matthew, EJ, Jacob, Whitney, Marvin, Jordan, Shelby, Carly, Lexi, and Miley; 43 great-grandchildren; siblings, Patricia Johnson of Mt. Tracy Thomas Deckard, 56, of Mt. Carmel, IL passed away peacefully at his residence on May 3, 2025, following a 7-year battle with cancer.

He was born on May 10, 1968, in Wabash County, Illinois, son of Thomas Esco Deckard and Diana Kay Turner.

Tracy graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in 1986 and studied drafting at Vincennes University.

On September 10, 2013, he married Sherri A. Eplin in Grand River, Kentucky and together they enjoyed 11 years of marriage.

He was a crane operator and graphics designer at Young Sign Company in Leavenworth, Kansas before moving back to the area and opening his own business. Tracy and Sherri owned and operated The Finish Line auto detailing shop for approximately 8 years, where he also designed custom vinyl graphics.

Tracy always had a passion for cars and at the young age of 16, he restored his first car, a 1975 Gremlin. His last endeavor was restoring a 1980 Trans Am Indy 500 Pace Car and in the last few years, he enjoyed building and customizing models of cars he had previously owned.

He played football at Mt. Carmel High School and was a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan.

He also enjoyed flying remote control airplanes and was President of the Prop Dusters Club. He was a “Jack of All Trades” and through different careers and life experiences, he had learned how to fix just about anything. He loved vacations at the beach, camping and trips to Southern Illinois to Garden of the Gods.

Tracy is of the Christian faith, part of the family of God.

Tracy leaves behind his wife, Sherri; mother, Diana Kay Turner; brother, Bernie L. Deckard; daughters Cara Lynn Wells and Bethany Ann Deckard; stepsons, Phillip Beyes and David Beyes; grandchildren, Aaron Deckard, Kade Deckard, Sunny Wells and Kellin Wells; step-grandchildren Raelynn Burman, Leo Beyes and P. J. Beyes; and several aunts and uncles.

James was born June 21, 1949, in Horse Branch, Kentucky, the son of Herbert and Rena (Burdon) Phelps. James served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army.

On August 6, 1984, James married Aleta Joy Rayborn at the Church of Christ in Mt. Carmel, Illinois and together they have 6 children.

James came home in June of 1970 from the Vietnam War after being wounded. He worked at Snap-On Tools and Amax Coal as a roof bolter, where he retired. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed playing poker with his friends. Around town, James was known as “The Storyteller”.

He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and American Legion and also belonged to the Eagles.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Aleta Joy Rayborn; children, Timothy (Kristi) Burton of Princeton, IN, Cynthia (Mike Lagow) Phelps of Mt. Carmel, IL, Michael (Shelly) Burton of Mt. Karen Fern Blake, 64

Karen Fern Blake, 64, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025 at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, IN surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on April 13, 1961 in Mount Carmel, Illinois, the daughter of Richard and Kathryn (Wall) Banks. Karen married Ed Blake and he preceded her in death in 2012. She married Eric Mensah-Sowah and he survives.

Karen will be fondly remembered for her sweet spirit and the genuine kindness she extended to everyone around her. Though she cherished her small-town roots, Karen had a deep love for exploring the world. She found joy in her travels, especially to Africa, Belize, and Mexico—places that spoke to her adventurous heart. A true lover of the outdoors, Karen found peace and fulfillment in nature. She especially loved being by the water fishing, mushroom hunting and tending to her garden. She was very fond of animals, especially her fur babies, Kamie and Sammie. Above all, Karen’s greatest love was her family. She was a faithful member of the Free Methodist Church in Mount Carmel. Karen’s kindness and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

David Mike Russell, 68

David Mike Russell, 68, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at his residence. He was born on March 27, 1957 in Grayville, Illinois, the son of William J. and Clara (Kimbrel) Russell. He was married Karen Englebright and she survives.

Mike worked for the City of Mount Carmel for many years. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing with family and friends. Mike was a collector of many things. He had a large knife collection and always loved finding jewelry pieces and antiques. Mike was very handy and loved tinkering on all kinds of motors. Mike loved animals especially his beloved Pepper dog who was his best friend for fifteen years. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Mike will be remembered by his wife, Karen; sons, Charlie David Russell and wife, Melissa and Shane Russell; daughters, Tabitha Oyola, and Megan Moore and husband, Billy; stepchildren, Pat Adams and wife, Christina, Kevin Adams and wife, Jenny, and Katrina Adams; grandchildren, Seth Oyola, Dalton Russell, Dakota Russell, Madison Russell; great grandchildren, Evette Oyola and Marlyna Oyola; brother, Jim Russell of Carmi; special cousin, Barbara Simmons.

Keith Miller, 80

Keith Miller, 80, of Stillwater, MN, formerly of St. Louis, MO, passed away unexpectedly April 15, 2025.

Keith was born May 14, 1944, in Mt. Carmel, IL to Glen and Jeannette (Ritter) Miller.

He graduated from Mt. Carmel High School and received his B.A. in Political Science from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL. He worked with the Logistics/Supply Chain Group at 3M and retired after 40+ years of employment.

He is survived by, and will be greatly missed by his wife, Sandy, children, Keith Miller, Kris Miller, Kelli Miller (Ferris), Clay Lynn, Chris Lynn and nephew, Matt Diggs, 15 grandchildren: Montana, Eli, Derek, Carter, Ciana, Brooke, Samantha, Maryn, Logan, Jordan, Alexis, Gracie, Tommy, Ava, Kieran and 4 great-grandchildren: Katrina, Sophia, Azadian and Ben; and brother, Gerald "Jerry" (Linda) Miller; sister, Marilyn Spruell, plus many nieces, nephews and friends.

Keith was a member of several Hosta clubs in both Minnesota and Wisconsin. He loved his gardens and raised over 1600+ varieties of Hosta.

He was a very quiet man at home enjoying family, friends and watching Johnny Carson reruns on TV.

Keith liked to help Sandy with orphaned squirrels from the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of MN and even had neighborhood ground squirrels eat peanuts out of the holes in his Crocs while on his deck.

Keith's final "Garden Party", his Celebration of Life, will happen at a later date.

Robert “Frog” Glenn, 70

Robert “Frog” Glenn, 70, of Allendale, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at his residence surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on April 27, 1955 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the son of Melvin L and Lelia M. (Wells) Glenn.

Frog loved his family and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. A true outdoorsman, he found joy in frog gigging, mushroom hunting, and spending time in nature. Frog had a passion for metal detecting and took great joy in uncovering hidden treasures. Frog’s kindness, adventurous spirit, and generous heart will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Frog will be remembered by his brother, Fredie (Theresa) Glenn; sister, Freda K. Daniels; daughter, Sheena (Mamie) Sikes; many loved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Frog was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lester L. Glenn and William E. Glenn.

Gary Brockman Poland, 86

Gary Brockman Poland, 86, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at Oakview Nursing and Rehab, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 24, 1938 in Shenandoah, Iowa, the son of Ronald and Alma (Brokman) Poland. He married Marcia Hall on August 29, 1998 and together they enjoyed twenty-six years of marriage.

Gary faithfully served his Country through his dedicated work in the Army National Guard, and he proudly led Wabash County as head of civil defense for many years. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a talented pianist and loved music. Gary also enjoyed to tinker and was always inquisitive on how things worked. His family always shared the story of when Gary was three years old, he took apart a tricycle to see how it worked. Gary was the happiest when he was on a boat fishing with family and his dogs. He served as Elks Exalted Ruler and also served as president of the Mesa Lake board. Gary was a very hard worker and was employed at Snap On Tools for many years. He also worked at Mid-East Supply, Kieffer Lumber, Faulkner Automotive and Hogg Heaven. During Gary’s working career, he made many lasting friendships. Gary will be missed by his family and all who knew him.

Gary will be remembered by his wife, Marcia Poland; son, Greg Poland and wife, Heidi; daughter, Gina Clark and husband, Roddy; brother, Todd Poland; step children, Mike Fuller and wife, Ellen, Mark Fuller and wife, Kendra, Suzanna Brown and husband, Dale; grandchildren, Jolinda Wiseman, Mason Poland, John, Hunter, and Faith Fuller, Elainna Chirban, Kathy Brown, and Rebekkah Gulley; ten great-grandchildren. Gary was preceded in death by his parents.

Dorothy “Dottie” Collar, 86

Dorothy “Dottie” Collar, 86, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Oakview Nursing and Rehab, surrounded by her family’s love. She was born on January 9,1939, in Mexico, Missouri, the daughter of Thomas and Selma (Schremp) Berry. She married Clayton Clifford Collar on April 22, 1961, and they enjoyed fifty-seven years of marriage until his passing on May 13, 2018.

Dottie worked for almost twenty years as Postmaster Relief at Bellmont and Lancaster post offices. She was very crafty and in her free time enjoyed painting, crochet and cross stitch. Dottie would design and sew her husband’s western shirts for everyday wear. She was a great help to Clayton, breaking and training harness horses. Dottie had a great love for animals, especially her dog, Archie. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Dottie leaves behind her daughters, Daneen Collar, Dana Hornback and husband Eugene; a niece whom Clayton and Dottie thought of as a daughter, Janel (David) Wherry; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; special friends who helped Dottie after Clayton’s passing, Rose Peach, Nena and Jeff Xanders.

Dottie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Clifford Clayton Collar; sister, Norma Carver.

No formal services will be held. Dottie will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Bethel Cemetery.

Robert Omar Spray, 56

Robert Omar Spray, 56, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Friday, April 25, 2025, at home. He was born on November 24, 1968, in Mount Carmel, the son of Cary Spray and Carolyn (Shain) Spray.

Robert faithfully served his country in the United States Marines. He later became an EMT and was very proud of his work. In his spare time, he enjoyed thrifting and finding new treasures. Robert was at peace being outdoors and sitting by a fire. Spending time with his son, daughter and grandchildren brought him great joy. Robert will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Robert leaves behind his son, Michael and wife Sara; grandchildren, Braxton and Sophia Spray; mother, Carolyn Spray; sister, Amanda Spray. Robert was preceded in death by his father, Cary Spray.

No formal services are planned at this time.

Brenda J. Hargrave, 75

Brenda J. Hargrave, 75, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2025, at home. She was born on March 30, 1950, in Mount Carmel, the daughter of Alfred and Mildred (Hall) Adams. She married Richard “Dickie” Hargrave on April 2, 1966, and together they enjoyed fifty years of marriage until his passing on June 27, 2016.

Brenda was a wonderful cook and worked many years, along with her sisters, at Snack and Grill and Twin Rivers. Brenda was a dedicated worker at any job or task she had undertaken. Brenda was known as a loving wife, mother, mammaw and sister. She loved her family with all of her heart and her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, especially her little great-grandson.

Brenda leaves behind her daughter, Misty and husband Roy Parcell of Wayne City, Illinois; grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Aaron) Ramsey, Matthew Parcell and Aimee (Jack Bagin) Parcell; great-grandson, Mason Ramsey; siblings, Charles (Barbara) Adams, Janet (Rick) Oliver; many loved nieces and nephews.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Dickie; sister, Lois Holcomb; brothers, Roy Adams, Gene Adams and Richard Adams.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 1, 2025, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.

Deanne Jonay Fry, 87

Deanne Jonay Fry, 87, of The Villages, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2024. She was born to John and Viola Montgomery on August 19th, 1937, in Rocky Ford, Colorado. 

Her early years were spent on her family’s dairy farm near Rocky Ford. Upon graduation from high school, she attended the University of Colorado, where she met her future husband, Jim Fry, an Airman stationed in Denver with the Military.  Deanne and Jim were married on December 15th, 1956, in Rocky Ford, Colorado, and shared life’s adventures for 68 years.  Deanne continued her educational pursuits, attending the University of Illinois, National college of Education and received a Master of Education degree, with a certificate in Professional Counseling, from the University of Evansville. She was employed by School District 348, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, for over 40 years. She held the positions of Teacher, Guidance Counselor and Director of Special Education. Dee loved working with students and colleagues and positively impacted many lives during her tenure. 

Deanne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was also a youth leader and Sunday School teacher for many years at First Baptist Church in Mt. Carmel.  In their retirement years, Deanne and Jim moved to The Villages, Florida, and thoroughly enjoyed the lifestyle offered by the retirement community. Deanne loved to travel with friends and family and visited many countries and continents around the globe. An avid golfer, Dee cherished her time spent with friends on the golf course. Her skill, dedication, and love for the game of golf led her to win numerous awards, including Gold and Silver medals in the National Senior Games. 

Deanne is survived by her husband, James D. Fry, of The Villages, Florida; daughter, Terri Lynn Edwards, also of The Villages, Florida; son, Kevin Scott Fry, of Canton, Georgia; two granddaughters, Kirby (Mike) Cheesman, and Shelby (Gary) Howder, and three great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Jemma, and Corrin Cheesman.  

A Celebration of Life, honoring Dee’s life and legacy, is planned for Sunday, May 4th, 2025.  An open house will be held from 1:00-4:00pm at the home of Mike and Kirby Cheesman, 8455 N. 1220 Blvd, Mt. Carmel, IL.

Mary Ellen Chalcraft, 80

Mary Ellen Chalcraft, 80, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2025 at Wabash General Hospital surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on October 13, 1944 in Albion, Illinois, the daughter of Charlie and Hula (Neaveill) Clark. On April 12, 1963 she married Gary Edward Chalcraft at the Olive Congregational Church and together they enjoyed fifty-one years of marriage until his passing on May 27, 2014.

Mary will be remembered most for the love she gave so freely—as a devoted mother, proud grandmother, caring sister, and loyal friend. She never met a stranger and just loved people. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting gifts for family and friends. She also loved to play bingo where she made many friendships. She could often be found in her kitchen where she loved to cook and bake. Above all, Mary cherished her family and the time she was able to spend with them. Mary worked for many years at Champion Laboratories. She was a member of Heartland Worship Center and dearly loved her Church family. Mary will be missed by her family and all who knew her.

Mary will be remembered by her three sons, Greg (Vanessa) Chalcraft, Marcus Chalcraft, and Gerald (Shannon) Chalcraft; one daughter, Mitzi (David) Hutton; grandchildren, Sinjun Chalcraft, Christopher Hutton, Cassie Hutton, Abigail Compton, Kelsie Willson, Karlee Willson, Matthew Hutton, and Joseph Hutton; great grandchildren, Skarlett Newman, Katelyn Hutton, Chandler Hutton and Gideon Hutton; brothers, Dale Clark and Charles (June) Clark; sister, Jenny Farmer; many loved cousins, nieces and nephews; special friends, Laura Smith and Terry Garner.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Keith Clark, Joann Clark, Elmer Clark, Evelyn Compton, Shirley Baker, Russell Clark, and Linda Conover.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1200 p.m., Monday, April 28, 2025 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, north and west of Albion, Illinois, with Pastor Tony Hodgson officiating.

Jason M. Hunt, 52

Jason M. Hunt, 52, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away Thursday, April 17,2025 at Home. He was born on August 15, 1972, in Mount Carmel, Illinois, the son of Myron Hunt and Cheryl (Stone) Hunt.

Jason worked as road commissioner for the city of St. Francisville for a while, until his body took a toll, and he had to step down. He had an interest in cars and trucks. Jason was a homebody who loved his family dearly. He was good at giving advice, and always there for anyone who needed to bend his ear. Jason will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Jason leaves behind his children, Sean Hunt and Ariel Hunt. Two grandchildren, Zoey and Madison Lofton; one sister, Jennifer Harms; many uncles, aunts and cousins.

Jason was preceded in death by his parents.

A private graveside service with be held at Oaklawn Cemetery in St. Francisville, Illinois at a date to be determined.

Gary D. Slunder, 74

Gary D. Slunder, age 74, of Glenwood, AR, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025. He was born in Wabash County, Illinois, on November 22, 1950 the son of Fred and Mary Slunder.

Gary married his wife, Melinda J. Bright, in September 1980. They met at Snap-On Tools in 1977 and enjoyed forty-eight years of marriage. Gary worked in the oil fields in Odessa, Texas, and from there he was drafted into the Army. Then, he started working at Snap-On Tools and worked there for thirty-one years. Later, he joined the Carpenters' Union Local 224 at Newburgh, Indiana, where he met and worked with friends on all sorts of projects but one especially was the big bridge over the Wabash River in Mt. Carmel..

He loved life, camping, deer hunting, duck hunting, goose hunting, and fishing with Scott Slunder and Sons of Cabot, Arkansas. He loved helping people.

Gary leaves behind his wife, Melinda Slunder; his son, Nathan; his daughter, Felicia, and her fiancé, Aaron Wagner; his three granddaughters, Sasha, and her fiancé, Brad, Mikaya, and Trinty; their mother, Brandy (Kiddo); his great-grandsons, Julien, Theron, Jax, Max, and Bennett; his two brothers and sister-in-law, Karl and Michelle Slunder and Bob Slunder; his fishing buddy, Jimmie C. Bright; and his two best friends, Bob and Barb Farmer.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michal; his brother, Fred; his sister, Janice; his mother-in-law, Bonnie Bright; and his in-laws, Bob and Patricia Krug.
