From Coach John White:
Our golfing Aces pulled off a 10 shot victory Wednesday at home against Hamilton County. While not impressive our scores are getting a little better.
Max Zimmerman was our medalist with a 41 but let a good round get away by triple bogeying the 15th hole.
Gage Kennard followed with a 42 and Beau Stipp birdied his last hole for a 42.
Jarett West, Gavin Smith and Zach Allen, who was playing in his first varsity match all had some struggles posting a 46, 48 and 51 respectively.
Our junior varsity showed some improvement with Andrew Gillihan leading with a 43. Owen Dougherty
and Konner Kelsey both shot their best rounds ever with a 44 and 45.
Andrew Goldman Isaac Kieffer both had 46’s, followed by Zeke Swanson with a 49.
The rest of the jv team, Anthony Bleyer,Steven Hasse, Jaxon Browning, Levi Beesley, Quaide Kanipe and Garrett Hodges all shot respectable scores in the high forties and low fifties.
The vast majority of our players have only been playing golf 1 or 2 years and are showing improvement every week. For the most part our ball striking is becoming more and more acceptable BUT our wedge play and putting for lack of a better word STINKS. I would love to see this team spending more time on putting green and on the shag field practicing short wedges.
Our next match will be Friday at Lawrenceville.
