On Wednesday, November 29th, the St. Mary’s Lady Rockets traveled to Olney St. Joe to take on the Lady Wildcats in a WEAA Conference game. St. Mary’s defeated Olney St. Joe, 33 – 28, to improve their overall season record to 9 – 5, and their conference record to 5 - 2. St. Mary’s got off to a slow start and trailed at the end of the first quarter 9 – 8, and 16 – 11 at halftime. The Lady Rockets were able take the lead at the end of the third quarter, 22 – 19. St. Mary’s outscored St. Joe 22 – 12 in the second half to help secure the win. Eden Wankel led St. Mary’s in scoring with 13 points. Savannah Zimmerman added 7 points, Olivia Stinson 6 points, Mady Young 4 points, and Emma Keepes 3 points. Olney St. Joe was led in scoring by Ryann Kleir with 9 points.
Olney St. Joe defeated St. Mary’s in the 7th grade game, 18 - 14. St. Mary’s lead 4 - 2 at the end of the first quarter; trailed 6 – 4 at halftime; and 10 - 8 at the end of the third quarter. Eden Wankel led St. Mary’s in scoring with 6 points. Lauren Hall and Anna Gill each scored 4 points to round out the scoring for the Lady Rockets. Danielle Clodfelter led the Lady Wildcats with 7 points.
St. Mary’s 8th grade team will begin the WEAA Conference Tournament at Jasper (Fairfield) Grade School on Monday, December 4th, at 7:15pm, when they play the New Hope Lady Panthers.
