Glen A. Wiseman, 62, of Browns passed away on Wednesday, December 6th, 2023 at his home.

He was born on April 18th, 1961 in Mt. Carmel to William and Ruth K (Marriott) Wiseman.

Glen married his wife Michelle (Compton) on July 12th, 2004 in Henderson, Kentucky.

Glen retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation after 20 years of service. He had proudly served in the U.S. Army for a little over six and a half years. He was a member of the Hope Community Church of Princeton, Indiana, the Olney chapter of the Christian Motorcyclist Association, and The Great Banquet Community.

He is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Ruth Wiseman, special niece Chelsi Eileen, brother-in-law Cotten Maginn, mother-in-law Georgia King, and 4 grand babies.

Glen is survived by his wife Michelle, Children: Christina (Chris) Ray, Bethanie Wiseman and fiancée Ryan Hardy, Lisa Wiseman, and Andrew (Allie) Silvernale, 11 grandchildren: Christian, Nakiya, Jakob, Olivia, Elizabeth, Oliver, Iris, Tyson, Dylan, Micah, and Noah, 2 great grandchildren: Cohen and Colt, 1 brother: George Wiseman, 2 sisters: Kathy Maginn and Sara Chiarello, numerous nieces and nephews, and beloved dog Zausk.

Paula Tarpy, 67

Paula Tarpy, 67, of Allendale, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023 in Clinton County, Illinois following a car accident.  She was born on January 26, 1956 in Mount Carmel, the daughter of Paul and Dorothy (Corri) Schafer.

Paula will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and sister.  She never met a stranger; was always willing to listen while helping others.  Paula was very compassionate and loved caring for others as a Registered Nurse.  She loved to have fun and always enjoyed shopping.  Paula graduated from Allendale High School and when her boys were little, she attended the First Christian Church in Allendale.  Paula was young at heart and had a witty sense of humor that led to a unique perception of the world.  Paula loved waterskiing and had a gift for teaching others the sport.  She will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.

Paula will be remembered by her two sons, JP Davis and Justin Davis; four grandchildren, Draven Davis, Riah Davis, Jace Kieffer, and Reagan Davis; two brothers, Robert Schafer and Mike Schafer.  Paula was preceded in death by her parents; the love of her life, John Forrest Davis; and her beloved dog, Mookie.

Eddie L. Odom, 72

Eddie L. Odom, 72, of Carmi, Illinois, formerly of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Heart-to-Heart Hospice Center in Evansville, Indiana. He was born on December 17,1950, in Mount Carmel, the son of William “Bill” and Estel (Goldman) Odom. He married Laura Heilmann on March 20,1999, in Mount Carmel, and they have enjoyed twenty-four years of marriage.

Ed worked many years as a carpenter. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, camping, and boating on the river. He was a NASCAR fan and liked WWE Wrestling. Most of all, Ed enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Ed leaves behind his beloved wife, Laura; stepson, James Heilmann; daughters, Tammy Dixon, Teresa Chaves; grandson, Salem Mullins; brother, David (Margaret) Odom; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; son, Shawn Odom; brothers, William “Billy” Odom, Ronald Odom, Donald Odom; and sister, Myrtle Rose Odom.

Donald R Bowen, 84

Donald R Bowen, 84, of West Salem, IL passed away on Thursday, November 30th, 2023 at his home.

He was born September 2nd, 1939 in West Salem, IL to Edgar and Sarah Margaret (Hicks) Bowen.

Don married his wife Jean on September 1st, 1961 in West Salem, IL.

Don was a livestock and grain farmer and had previously been a semi-truck driver for Champion Labs for 33 years. He dearly loved watching over his cattle and hauling livestock. Don loved his family and adored his great-grandchildren. He enjoyed visiting with family and solving the world’s problems with his coffee time friends. Don was a member of the Little Wabash United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Sarah Margaret Bowen and granddaughter Ashley Bosecker.

Don is survived by his wife Jean Bowen, son Rob Bowen, daughters; Cheryl Ray and Marsha Bosecker, 2 grandchildren; Casey, and Darus, and great-grandchildren; Cooper and Ezra.

Visitation will be held at the West Salem Zion Church on Tuesday, December 5th, 2023, from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. with funeral services on Wednesday, December 6th, 2023 at 10 a.m. followed by interment at Moravian Cemetery.

David Augustine, 75

Our beloved brother, uncle and father, David W Augustine, passed peacefully Friday, November 17, 2023, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Evansville, IN at the age of 75.

David was born on August 27th, 1948, in Salina, Kansas.

David proudly served in the United States Army from 1970 to 1972, and then fulfilled his obligation in the Army Reserves until 1976.

David worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company for many years but decided to return to college where he graduated from The State of New York earning a Bachelor of Science Degree. Immediately after graduation he passed his CPA Exam (on his first attempt). He worked for the Internal Revenue Service for several years. David spent the next 26 years as an entrepreneur - working at, owning and operating H & R Block offices. [At the time of his death, he still owned and operated two locations.]

He is survived by his brother, Douglas and Grace (Narve) Augustine of Marquette Hts, IL.; sister Gay (Marshall) Bowlin of Benton, IL.; daughters, Amber Augustine and Zena Rosenberger, nieces and nephews; Charles and Catharine (Augustine) Brisby, Joseph and Robin Augustine, James and Dana Augustine, Jeff and Adena (Bowlin) Clark.; and great nephews Caleb Augustine, Henry Augustine and Louis Augustine.

He was preceded in death by his loving mother and father, Wilma (Eldridge) Marshall and Jimmy Marshall of Zeigler, IL, as well as many uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Dolores R. Elliott, 83, of Olney, IL, passed from this world to her heavenly home on Saturday, November 18, 2023.

She was born on September 1, 1940, in Cowling, IL, to the late Leo and Caradena (nee Stadler) Higginson. On December 30, 1961, Dolores married Drue Elliott in Cowling, IL.

Dolores had a love for hats and jewelry, amassing quite a collection throughout her life. She enjoyed watching wildlife from her window and playing with her grandchildren. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Dolores will be missed by all who knew her.

Terence Barber, 60

Terence Barber, 60, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on April 2, 1963, in Mount Carmel, the son of Roy and Mary (Rexing) Barber. He married Billie (Dunlap) Wood on September 17, 2015, after a twenty-year relationship.

Terry worked for 42 years at Champion Laboratories where he made many friendships. He was a big Star Trek fan and a collector of Star Trek memorabilia. Terry loved cooking the turkey for Thanksgiving dinner and a ham for the Christmas holidays. He enjoyed going camping and was a train enthusiast, especially the older ones. Terry enjoyed flying model helicopters and drones. He wasn’t a big sports fan, but he would sit with Billie to watch Cardinal baseball and enjoyed the game, especially when they were winning. Terry watched all types of movies and was a 70’s and 80’s rock and country music fan. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Terry leaves behind the love of his life of twenty-eight years, Billie Barber; children, Matthew Barber, Heather Tewell and husband Cliff, Elizabeth “Lizzy” Barber; stepchildren, Lloyd Wood Jr., Leslie Archer, and husband John; several grandchildren, step-grandchildren; sisters, Teresa (Jay) Morgan of Jasper, IN, Trudy (Terry) Barber of Washington, IN, Tonia (Mike) Bobbitt of Mt. Carmel; several nieces and nephews.

Charles E. “Charlie” Wall Sr., 72

Charles E. “Charlie” Wall Sr., 72, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, went to his heavenly home Sunday, November 12 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 26, 1950, in Harrisburg, Illinois, the son of Alta (Oldham) Brown and Cletes Wall. He married Kathryn Hodgson on February 4, 1977, and together they celebrated forty-six years of marriage, focused on their faith and family.

Charlie attended college at Indiana University, South Bend. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was stationed on Oahu Island in Honolulu County, Hawaii. He was a diehard St. Louis Cardinals fan. Charlie loved going to the beach on vacations. His favorite thing to do was sit and watch the tides roll in. He was known for long, entertaining stories which he loved to repeat often.

Charlie loved spending time with his grandkids. He supported them in every event they had, whether it be sports or school plays, it didn’t matter, he was there to show his support, cheer them on and let them know PaPa loved them and was always proud of them.

Charlie preached the Gospel for over forty years. He retired from the Lighthouse Church in Patton Illinois. He attended Heartland Worship Center. Charlie was a faithful man who loved the Lord. He managed his illness with strength and grace. While he fought his battle with cancer, he never lost his sense of humor. Throughout his entire journey, he cracked jokes, made silly faces at the grandkids, and even pulled some light-hearted pranks. He had a great ability to make others smile and his sense of humor will be missed.

Charlie is survived by the love of his life of forty-six years, Kathy Wall; children, Charlie and Jillian Wall, Tamera and Peter Wood, all of Mount Carmel; grandchildren, Olivia and Maddison Wall, Jaxsen, Joesoph, and Julia Wood; one sister, Diane (Carey) Lane; one brother, Don (Nancy) Wall; two sisters-in-law, Wilma Hodgson, Debbie Cullison; five brothers-in-law, Jim (Kathleen) Watkins, Don (Kathy) Watkins, William JR (Patti) Hodgson, Charles (Theresa) Hodgson, Minor Akers; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ronald Lynn Goldman, 80

Ronald Lynn Goldman, 80, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away November 9, 2023, at Wabash General Hospital.

Ronald was born to the late Harry and Ada (Nesler) Goldman on January 26, 1943, in Mount Carmel, Illinois. Surviving are his three children: Gregory Goldman, Teresa Goldman, and Cathy Goldman, all of Mount Carmel, Illinois. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Kiersten R. (Drew) Cheadle and Kiefer W. (Annie) Goldman, his great-grandson Kamden W. Goldman, sister Dianna K. (Ray) Wood of Lancaster, Illinois, sister-in-law Jill Goldman of Mount Carmel, Illinois, close family friend Janie Ensminger and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Franklin Goldman, sister Sondra Howell, brother-in-law Glenn “Doc” Howell and great-grandson Grayson Wade Goldman.

Ronald learned his trade as an Electrician Lineman from being in the Army where he was an E5 Sergeant. After the Army he worked for Mount Carmel Public Utility and various Power Plants in Illinois and Colorado. Upon returning to the area, he managed various clubs. Ronald was a Member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the American Legion Post 590 in Albion, Illinois. In the summertime, Ronald enjoyed working outdoors. He loved spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren, especially his great-grandson Kamden.

Mary Jane Kieffer, 80

Mary Jane Kieffer, 80, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 3,1943, in Mount Carmel, the daughter of Ralph W. and Emma “Evalyn” (Schaefer) Ewald. She married Jackie L. Kieffer on December 29, 1995, and together they enjoyed twenty-seven years of marriage.

Mary was a member of the Mount Carmel High School Graduating Class of 1961. She worked twenty plus years in office management and bookkeeping at the local John Deere dealer and then at Kieffer Bros. Construction Co. for twenty-seven years until her retirement in June of 2017. Mary enjoyed planting flowers and being in the kitchen cooking. She was a diehard St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed fishing and camping. She was a member of the Moose, Eagles, and a proud DAR member. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and The Daughters of Isabella. Mary dearly loved all of her grandchildren and keeping up with their sporting events. She was well known as “Grandma Mary” to many families, not just her own. Mary had a loving and caring heart, and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Shirley Jean Madden, 79

Shirley Jean Madden, 79, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, formerly of Newton, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, surrounded by her loving family.

Graveside Funeral Services will be Thursday, November 9, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., in the Haven Hill Memorial Gardens in Olney, Illinois, where Jean will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.

Jean was born on April 3, 1944, in Noble, Illinois, the daughter of Raymond and Neva (Hough) Dickerson. She married Kenny Madden on November 3,1962, in Shawneetown, Illinois. Kenny preceded her in death in 2002 after forty years of marriage.

For much of her life, Jean was a loving and devoted homemaker. Outside the home, she worked at E. R. Moore in Newton. She was past president of the Newton Junior Women’s Club and a member of the Eagles Club in Olney. Jean was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed watching repeats of the Cubs 2016 World Series Championship. She also was a big NASCAR fan with Jimmie Johnson her favorite driver. Jean enjoyed fishing and boat rides with Kenny, but the joy of her life was her family and grandsons Carson and Chandler, and great grand-daughter Kennedy Drew Madden. Family trips to Disney, cruises, and visits to Las Vegas were also some of the highlights of her life. Jean will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Jean is survived by her son Kevin and wife Sheryl of Mt. Carmel; grandsons Carson and wife Courtney of St. Louis, and Chandler and wife Cortney of Mt. Carmel; one great granddaughter, Kennedy Drew Madden. Also surviving Jean are brothers-in-law Don Stoll, Doug (Eldean) Madden, Jeff (Jackie) Madden; sister-in-law, Nancy Madden, along with several nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters Patricia Billingsley and Judith Stoll; brother-in-law, Glenn Billingsley.

Wayne Wilbert Boss, 75

Wayne Wilbert Boss, 75, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Friday, November 3, 2023, at home.  He was born June 12, 1948, in Evergreen Park, Illinois, the son of Kenneth and Shirley (Kihl) Boss. 

 Wayne faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  He worked as a handyman, doing odd jobs for local residents.  Wayne enjoyed fishing and cooking out on the grill.  He had a great love for his dogs, Old Mama, and Jenny Jane.  Wayne will be missed by his family and friends.

 Wayne leaves behind two children, John Boss, and Marsha Boss, one sister, Jacqueline Zarembka of Cape Corel Florida; half-brother, Kenneth Boss; his longtime friend, Linda Byrns; nieces, nephews, and many friends.

 Wayne was preceded in death by his parents.

Jada May Dunlap, 68

Jada May Dunlap, 68, of Allendale, Illinois, passed away peacefully, at home, on Friday, November 3, 2023.  She was born August 20, 1955, in Jasper, Indiana, the daughter of Jesse William and Mary Katherine (Richardson) Polen.  She attended Jasper Elementary School, and high school in Petersburg, Indiana.

Jada worked for more than twenty-five years as a cashier in local convenience stores.  In her spare time, she enjoyed working puzzles and being with her beloved dog, Ozzy.  Jada liked spending time at the river, fishing, and four-wheeler riding.  She was a St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan, enjoyed watching wrestling and shopping the QVC network on television.  She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Jada leaves behind her son, Jeremy Cheesman, and wife Tracey; three grandchildren, Tommy Joe, Autumn Renee, and Ainsley Violet Cheesman; four great-grandchildren, Emmalee, Dante, Grayson, and Maverick; one brother, Dave Polen, and wife Wanda; and several nephews.

Shelby S. Weaver, 82

Shelby S. Weaver, 82, of Keensburg, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 19, 1941 in Clinton, Tennessee, the son of Isaac and Nettie (Daniels) Weaver. Shelby married Mildred Verdick on April 13, 1963 and together they enjoyed sixty years of marriage centered around their family.

Shelby will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. Shelby was the happiest when he was spending time with the grandchildren and always loved keeping up with their activities. Shelby was very handy, enjoyed woodworking and making gifts for family and friends. Shelby also enjoyed being outdoors and going on walks. He liked to work in his garden and always looked forward to spending time on the water fishing. Shelby was an avid sports fan and loved cheering for the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.

Shelby will be remembered by his loving wife, Mildred; daughters, Roberta Lambert and husband Brian of Keensburg, and Amy Neville and husband Scott of Albion; grandchildren, Brittany (Josh) Campbell, Samantha (Brent) Bates, Rebecca (Trevor) Sawyer, Madeline Kieffer and Bradley Lambert; great grandchildren, William Kieffer, Mason Kieffer, James “JT” Ross, Wynter Campbell, Cersei Campbell, Ava Bates, Austin Bates, Millie Spore, Adler Bates, Raelynn Foshee, Rhett Foshee and Ella Lambert; brother, Fred (Linda) Weaver; sister, Faye Osborne; many loved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Shelby was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carolyn Weaver; two grandsons, Dustin Kieffer and Tad Lambert; two brothers, Jessie Weaver, and Leon Weaver; four sisters, Joyce Hansard, Shirley Duncan, Liz Ward, and Helen Verdick.

James W. Bogard, 82

James W. Bogard, 82, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.

Services will be held Thursday, November 2, 2023, in the Chapel of Short-Cunninghan Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Alan Wright officiating. A burial will be held following the service at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service.

James was born May 2, 1941, in Sullivan, Indiana, to Raymond and Marie (Scott) Bogard.  He graduated high school and attended four years of college. James married Linda Gourley July 29, 1964, in Lawrenceville, Illinois.  They were married 59 years. To this union two children were born: Timothy Wayne “Kelly” Bogard of Allendale, Illinois and Tami Dawn Bogard of Mt. Carmel, Illinois. James had four grandchildren: Dayne (Katie) Bogard, Keagan Makayla Bogard, Ava Bogard and Kerrigan Bogard; five great-grandchildren: Brodie, Atraya, Nora, Alder, and Ivan; siblings, Ricky Bogard of Sullivan, Indiana, and Jay Bennett of Merom, Indiana.

Preceding him in death are his parents, grandson Trevor Bogard, and siblings: Gerald, Jerry, Terry, and Dean Bogard, Bobby Bennett, Sherry Bonaham and Carolyn Hendericks.

He proudly served 22 years in the United States Air Force retiring as a Senior Master Sergent. James then went to work as the superintendent of maintenance for Wabash Valley College for 17 years. He was a member of Community Church of God.

James enjoyed his cars and kept them immaculate. Above all, he loved family dinners and spending time with his family.

Dana Mae Tate, 98

Dana Mae Tate, 98, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Monday, October 30, 2023, at the Villas of Holly Brook surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 6, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Short-Cunningham Funeral Home with Barry Roberts officiating.  She will be buried by her beloved husband in Highland Memorial Cemetery following the service.

Visitation will be Monday, November 6, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Dana was born December 14, 1924, in Keensburg, Illinois, the daughter of George W. and Eva (Douglas) Fitzgerrel, Jr. She graduated from Mt. Carmel High School.  On May 7, 1948, Dana married Charles L. Tate at the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. To this union a daughter, Ricki was born. Left to cherish Dana’s memory is her daughter Ricki and husband Mike Hays of Mt. Carmel; two grandchildren, Hilary Hays, and Heather Folz and her husband Mark; and two great-grandchildren, Noel and Annie Folz. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and two sisters, Alberta Atwood and Francis Knight.

During WWII Dana worked at the Chrysler Plant in Evansville, Indiana.  She then worked for Skiles Oil in Mt. Carmel as their secretary. Dana was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, serving as church secretary for many years.  She was a member of the Wabash General Hospital Ladies Auxiliary.

Dana was an avid golfer and bridge player.   She and Charlie enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 states. Dana especially loved vacationing with her family. Dana was a very affectionate person and liked taking care of people.  She and Charlie sponsored the Wabash Valley College Scholarship, Charles L. Tate Scholarship.

Fred L. Moody, 80

Fred L. Moody, 80, of Mount Carmel, passed away Thursday October 26, 2023, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital surrounded by his family.

A funeral service will be held Saturday November 4 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Home, with Pastor Daniel Moore officiating. A burial will follow in the Browns Cemetery in Browns, IL.

The visitation will be Saturday from 12 noon until the time of service at the funeral home.

Fred was born to the late Rolla and Edith (Hilbird) Moody on November 5, 1942, in Vincennes, IN. He graduated from St. Francisville High School and entered the US Navy. After serving his country for 20 years, Fred retired from the Navy. Fred married Lorretta Campbell on May 30, 1967, in St. Francisville, IL. Surviving is one son Roger (Jeanne Greuel) of Browns, IL. Also surviving are seven grandchildren Andrea Renne, Heather Roxanne, Autumn Rose, and Caleb Allen Moody; Nathan Greuel, Chelsea Veree and Taylor Lou Roosevelt. Fred is also survived by his brother Francis “Speed” Moody. Preceding him in death are his parents, daughter Lynnette Roosevelt, and a sister-in-law Sylvia Moody.

Fred was a welder/pipefitter. He loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed working with his hands, doing woodworking and stained glass.

Paul I. Edmondson, 96, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Monday, October 23, 2023, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, Indiana.

Services will be held Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., in the Chapel of Short-Cunningham Funeral Home. A burial will be after the service at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Mount Carmel, Illinois.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 27, 2023, in the Chapel of Short-Cunningham Funeral Home.

Paul was born to the late Claude E. and Daisy O. (Nesler) Edmondson, on August 19, 1927, in Olney, Illinois. He graduated from Bridgeport High School in the class of 1945. He was married to Mary Alice Moyes on June 24, 1949, in St. Francisville, Illinois. They enjoyed sixty-three years together. He is survived by his daughter Rita Jean Chansler of Lawrenceville, Illinois; two sisters-in-law: Joan Rissman of Bloomington, Indiana, and Bernadine White of Manassas, Virgina; twelve grandchildren: Shannon (Michael) Meehan, Angela Getts, Cassandra (Joel) Mills, Jennifer (Nate) Alexander, David (Mychelle) Blythe, Sabrina (Kerry) Kocher, Stephanie (DJ) VanWormer, Jessica (Kyle) Clodfelter, Kevin Edmondson-Pfeiffer, Jason Edmondson-Pfeiffer, Krystal Edmondson, Karabeth Edmondson. Also, surviving are twenty-six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his parents, wife, son James Edward Edmondson, daughter Lynn Marie Blythe, son-in-law Don Blythe, siblings: Mary E. Jackman and Edward L. Edmondson, and son-in-law Larry Chansler.

He worked at Ashland Oil Company for 37 years. Paul loved Auctions and yard sales. He enjoyed bowling, mowing, and gardening. Paul was an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed pecan picking.

Joseph A. McConnell, 59

Joseph A. McConnell, 59, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away, Monday, October 23, 2023, at Wabash General Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on March 1, 1964, in Evansville, Indiana, the son of Leon and Edna (Straw) Dardeen.

Joe loved his job as a truck driver. He would always bring his girls gifts and souvenirs from the places he had been. Joe was a true jokester. He loved to laugh and often gave his family and friends a hard time. He was an animal lover, and his dogs Violet, Zoey and Duke were very special to him. Joe loved his family dearly and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. His family and friends will miss him dearly.

Joe leaves behind his four daughters, Rylee (Ian) Knowles, Taylor (Dawson Grisham) McConnell, Emily (Ramon Mullings) Curry, Kali (Chevy Bump) Curry; honorary daughter, Emily Tennes; grandchildren, Brayden Daniel Crane, DeSean Izzahia Knowles, Brynlee Jo Kaylyn Knowles, Kaenan Jeremiah Bump, NiKlaus Robert Colin Knowles, Mazikeen Sue-Ann Ray Knowles, O’Ryan Eugene Lee Grisham; sisters, Eula May Ingram, Linda Finwick, Sandy Stoneberger, and Mindy Wampler; several loved nieces and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Pamela K Whitehouse; brothers, Larry “Bucky” Hiter, Norman Ray Whitehouse, Lawrence Whitehouse, Robert Whitehouse and Ralph Whitehouse.

There will be no public visitation. A Memorial Service will begin at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 1, 2023, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with seating beginning at 10:30 A.M.

Donald E. Deisher Sr. ,76

Donald E. Deisher Sr. ,76, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, left this world on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, surrounded by the love of his family.  He was born on June 12, 1947, in Mount Carmel, the son of Lawrence and Gladys (Miller) Deisher.  He married the love of his life, Sandra K. Jones, on September 1, 1968, and together they enjoyed fifty-five years of marriage.

Donald faithfully served his country in the United States Army.  He was employed at Pacific Press for forty-three years.  Donald was a self-taught musician, having learned to play several instruments with his guitar being his favorite.  He loved doing handyman work around the house, attending tractor shows and flea markets.  Donald took great pride in his children and grandchildren.  He enjoyed spending quality time with Sandra, taking camping trips and watching the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Donald was a member of the Pleasant Grove Church, was a loving family man and his presence on this earth will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Donald leaves behind his loving wife, Sandra; sons, Donnie E. (Cyndi Warren) Deisher Jr., Matthew T. Deisher, Robb L.
