Ronnie Keith Lofton, 80

Ronnie Keith Lofton, known to many as “Rambler Dog”, 80, of East Mount Carmel, Indiana, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 11, 1943, at his parent’s home in Gibson County, Indiana, the son of Archie and Ruby (McClellan) Lofton. He married Zoella Boner on June 4, 1964, and together they enjoyed forty-seven years of marriage until her passing.

Keith was a hard worker with a variety of work experiences during his lifetime. At a very young age, he began working on the family farm. Keith also worked in the oil fields, and for forty years he worked at Pacific Press factory. He was a great provider for his family and always willing to help anyone in need. In his spare time, Keith enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, boating and 4-wheeler riding. He liked spending time outside gardening, mowing, and tinkering with his tractor. He was a caring husband, father and grandfather and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Keith leaves behind four sons, Michael K. Lofton, James K. Lofton and wife Penny, Gregory S. Lofton, and Brian H. Lofton, all of Owensville, Indiana; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; three brothers, Dick (Charlotte) Lofton, Gary (Cathy) Lofton, Joe (Angie) Lofton; two sisters, Cinda (Mike) Garwood, Wilhmene “Willy” (Henry) Walls; several nieces and nephews.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Zoella; siblings, Charles Lofton, Vickie Moody, Jeffery Lofton; daughter-in-law, Kristi Lofton; and nephew, Andy Lofton.

Norma Jane Lewis, 93

Norma Jane Lewis, 93, of Saint Francisville, Illinois, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023, at River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton, Indiana, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 20, 1929, in Saint Francisville, the daughter of Robert Joseph and Ruth (Ridgley) Breen. She married Bernard C. Lewis in 1948 and he preceded her in death on July 2, 2005.

Norma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed taking care of her family, and some of her favorite times were Sunday dinners and holidays, when her whole family would gather together. Norma loved sweets and was known for her delicious cherry pies. She always had a piece of pie ready for her kids and grandkids, no matter when they visited. Norma also worked alongside her husband, Bernard, in their oilfield business until Bernards’s death in 2005. She worked hard during her life, caring for and helping provide for her family. Norma will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Norma leaves behind her son, Bernie Lewis and wife Sue; two daughters, Theresa Sloss and husband Larry, Tammie McFarland and husband Mark; daughter-in-law, Judy Lewis; twelve grandchildren, Angie Rindels, Brandy (Bryan) Howard, Josie Lewis, Justin (Bailey) Lewis, Jacob Lewis, John Lewis, Judd (Jasmyne) Lewis, Jammia (Robin) Joska, Alex (Heather) McFarland, Mitch (Rachel) McFarland, John (Alexis) McFarland, Kaleb McFarland; thirteen great-grandchildren, Gabe Loucks, Mason Howard, Brianna Howard, Hailey Lang, Kolten Lang, Alexis Lewis, Jace Lewis, Easton Lewis, Maverick Lewis, Camryn Lewis, Maya Joska, Merrick Joska and Halle McFarland; sister, Betty Judy, sister-in-law, Pat Hoh; and many loved nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services will be at 12:00 p.m., Friday, October 27, 2023, in Allendale Cemetery, where Norma will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.

Ace Michael Hufford, 18

Ace Michael Hufford, 18, of Allendale, Illinois, passed away Friday, October 13, 2023, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 16, 2005, in Fairfield, Illinois, the son of Michael John Hufford and Renee Weiss.

Ace worked as a cook in the restaurant industry. He really enjoyed cooking, not only at work but for his family and friends. Ace enjoyed spending time with his friends, going fishing, and riding fast motorcycles. He had a real love for speed. During his childhood, Ace enjoyed spending time with his grandparents. He loved his family, was a friend to many, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Ace leaves behind his father, Mike Hufford and wife, Marla; mother, Renee Weiss; brother, Billy Dill; stepbrothers, Cody Bergman, Jacob Sapp; sisters Jacquelynn Lamb, Anasasha Looney, and Haylee Bergman, who was like a little sister to him; his fiancée Jessy; two nephews, Luke, and Layne Dill, one niece, Leah Dill; paternal grandmother, Alice Carol Hufford; maternal grandmother, Pamela Weiss; maternal grandfather, Tim Weiss; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Eddie R Kalson, sr, 76

Eddie R. Kalson, Sr, 76, of Keensburg formally of Peoria IL, passed away on Saturday October 14, 2023, at Oakview Heights Continuous Care and Rehabilitation in Mt. Carmel surrounded by his family.

Eddie was born to the late William Frank Kalson and Katherine Glad on April 28, 1947, in Canton IL. He was married to Vickie Sue on April 4, 1967. Surviving is his daughter Lori Ann (Tony) Abel of Keensburg, IL Also, surviving are 2 grandchildren Emily (Eric) Wilson and Logan Abel; 1 great grandchild Mabel Kate Wilson; and 1 sister Kathy Sue Hand of Peoria IL. Preceding Eddie in death are his parents, one son Eddie Kalson Jr, Vickie Sue Kalson-Rilea.

Eddie worked for Caterpillar for several years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed anything that had to do with cars, going to car shows, drag racing, and giving old cars new life with paint and bodywork. He loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals.

Leta Sue Williams, 87

Leta Sue Williams, 87, of Allendale, Illinois, passed away October 13, 2023, at RiverOaks Health Campus, in Princeton, Indiana.

Services will be held Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at the Wabash Presbyterian Church in Orio, Illinois. A burial to follow the service.

Leta was born to the late Harold and Oma (Wirth) Litherland, on July 5, 1936, in Allendale, Illinois . She was married to Thomas Williams, on May 22, 1955, at the Wabash Presbyterian Church in Orio, Illinois. Surviving are their three daughters: Lisa Williams of San Diego, California, Diana Williams of Loveland, Colorado, and Kelly Williams of Flagstaff, Arizona. Also surviving are her sister Gloria (Larry) Satterthwaite, granddaughter Linnea Williams, and nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents and husband.

She worked in the Trust Office at Security Bank and Trust for nineteen years. Leta thoroughly enjoyed baking, gardening, and quilting. She also enjoyed canning and sewing. She was an avid reader and loved family Genealogy. Leta was a long-time member of the Wabash Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed making jellies and baked goods for the Orio Chowder. Leta was a past Board Member at Wabash General Hospital and was also a Girl Scout Leader. Leta enjoyed family gatherings such as picnics and reunions. She was truly a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker.

Gary Warnken, 72

Gary Warnken of Baudette passed away tragically on October 6, 2023 at the age of 72.

Gary Lee Warnken was born on September 23, 1951 to Rudolph and Edna (Woodard) Warnken in Baudette, MN.

Gary worked through his life at the Hasbargen Farm for Kenny and Roger Hasbargen, Jack's Sawmill, and he worked with Albert Hasbargen logging. He loved to visit with people, read, and volunteer. Gary cared about everyone and knew everything going in the neighborhood.

He is survived by his sisters Betty (Charles) Besser, Rose Drohan, Judy (Raymond) Seigrist, Jean Fuller, Joyce Warnken; and brother John (Tania) Warnken

Gary was preceded in death by his father and mother, Rudy and Edna; sister Irene Ethridge; and brothers-in-law Ernest Drohan and Dean Fuller.

A Graveside Service for Gary Warnken of Baudette will take place on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at the Border Cemetery just East of Baudette at 11:00am. If raining services will be conducted at the Border Church.

Barbara dowdy, 84

Barbara Dowdy, 84, of Albion, Illinois, passed away,Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation, surrounded by the love of her family.  She was born on August 9, 1939, In Liberty Mississippi, the daughter of Hubert and Mary (Kenny) Rushing.  

Barbara was an excellent homemaker who loved to cook for her family and friends.  Barbara was an outdoor person who loved to mow her yard.  In her spare time, she enjoyed working seek and find puzzles and spending time reading her Bible and devotionals.  Her dog Shelby was her faithful companion.  Barbara loved her family dearly and her grandchildren brought her special joy.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

Barbara leaves behind three daughters, Sonya Smith, Tonya Prosise and husband, Tim, Pat Compton, and husband Johnny; three sons, Tom Dowdy, Mike Dowdy and wife Lora, Chris Dowdy, and wife Tammy; ten grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Fannin, Nancy Shannon; sister-in-law, Kathy Rushing; several nieces, nephews and extended family.  

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; son, Ted Dowdy; grandson, Dakota Ellis; son-in-law, Kenny Smith; sister, Daisey LaVarier; brother, James Rushing, Brothers-in-law, Bill Shannon, Marvin Fannin, and Dennis LaVarier; former husband, Bill Dowdy.

Lindel Lary “Lin” Caddell, Sr., 85

Lindel Lary “Lin” Caddell, Sr., 85, of, Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away, Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Oakview Nursing and Rehab, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on July 31, 1938, in Wilmore, Kentucky, the son of William Clarence and Grace Lee (McPheron) Caddell. Lin married Janice Marie Elder on Jun 16, 1956, and after thirty-seven years of marriage, centered around their faith and family, she passed away on August 16, 1993. He married Sara (Steckler) Uhlhorn on September 7, 1996, until her passing on July 10, 2021.

Lin will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved the outdoors and was a true hunter and fisherman. He trained coon dogs and enjoyed coon hunting with family and friends. Lin excelled as a machine operator where he was employed by Snap-on Tool Corporation as a machinist for forty-four years. He was proud of his work and the many friendships he made on the job. In his younger years, Lin enjoyed hitting the road on his motorcycle. He was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree. Lin will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Lin leaves behind one son, Lindel Lary Caddell II, and wife Carolyn; three daughters, Linda Marie Caddell, Eudina K. Alldredge, Ashley Ann Gray and husband Cory; twelve grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Caddell; several loved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Lin is preceded in death by his parents; both of his wives; sister, Rowena Bartley; sister-in-law, Pam Caddell.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Monday, October 16, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church. Prior to the Visitation a Rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m.

Becky L. Paque’, 67

Becky L. Paque’, 67, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana, with her loving family by her side. She was born on July 6, 1956, in Beech Grove, Indiana, the daughter of Paul and Mary Lou (Seitz) Barker. On March 2, 2023, Becky married her long-time love, Lee Paque’, at their home in Lawrenceville, Illinois.

Becky was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had a true heart for others, was an amazing caregiver and no matter how she was feeling, she always had a smile and a sparkle in her eye. Some of the happiest times for Becky and Lee were when they moved to Wisconsin and renovated their lake-front log cabin. Having her whole family make the trip there to visit was a time she cherished. After moving to Florida, Becky enjoyed golfing, and organizing social benefits at the country club. She loved to cook, especially for big family gatherings and holidays back home in Illinois. She and her sisters would spend days side by side preparing a tremendous feast. Becky’s fondest memories with her children were when she took Alan to the 1993 Superbowl in California, taking her girls to New York for work, but with lots of shopping, and the time all the kids were with her out west in Colorado. Becky loved her children dearly, but when the grandchildren came along, they became her pride and joy. She loved keeping up with the happenings in their lives, but above all, she wanted them to be happy in whatever path life took them. Becky’s presence on this earth will be truly missed by her family and friends.

Becky leaves behind her beloved husband, Lee; one son, Alan Stoltz and wife Karla; two daughters, Kim Keepes and husband Shaun, Hollie Stuessel and husband Ruben; grandchildren, Alicia (Brett) Morgan, Kaelyn (Connor Adams) Bailey, Tanner Stoltz, Cortney (Chandler) Madden, Christian Stuessel, Cole Sardeson, Chase (Madelyn Cunningham) Keepes, Brayden Stoltz, Emma Keepes, Shelby Sardeson, and Lily Keepes; great-granddaughters, Freya Victoria Morgan, Kennedy Drew Madden; brother, Jeff Barker; sisters, Blanche Piper, Betty (Jim) Stanton, Billie (Smokey) Miller, Paula Blevins; many loved nieces and nephews.

Bobby Wayne Eads, 85

Bobby Wayne Eads, 85, of, Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana,surrounded by the love of his family.  He was born on January 7, 1938 in Aberdeen, Mississippi, the son of Loyle and Eunice (Gideon) Eads.  Bobby married Becky (Wheeler) Eads on June 11, 2002 and together they enjoyed twenty-one years of marriage.

Bobby was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  He made it a point to always keep candy on hand for when the grandkids were around.  Bobby was a true outdoorsman and loved being in the wood’s deer hunting.  In his free time, he also spent time golfing and fishing with family and friends.  

Bobby was a talented wood worker and also loved working with sandstone rocks where he engraved many family members and friends’ names on and gave as gifts.  In the evenings, Bobby loved reading his Bible and was strong in his faith.  Bobby could often be found on his front porch feeding the squirrels.  He was a very hard worker and loved his work as a boilermaker and being part of our local union # 374.  Bobby will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.

Bobby will be remembered by his loving wife, Becky Eads of Mount Carmel; two daughters, Sandy Kepley and husband, Doug of Evansville, IN and Teresa Diesher of Evansville, IN; step children, Donnie Wheeler and wife, Tracey, and Christy Hahn and husband, Chris; thirteen grandchildren; five step grandchildren; thirty-five great grandchildren.

Carole Lee Saltsgaver, 91, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away September 27, 2023, at home with her family by her side.

 Carole was born to the late Walter A. and Ruth I. (Tracy) Emmons. She was married to Frederick A. Saltsgaver on July 21, 1978, in Lancaster, Illinois. Survived by two children:  Jeanne R. (James) Tennis of Mount Carmel, Illinois, and Laura L. (David) Peter of Browns, Illinois, three stepchildren:  Beverly (Russ) Taylor, Dee Medler, and Bill (Becky) Saltsgaver. Also surviving are her five grandchildren:  Bonnie (Brian) Beal,

Matthew (Charlene) Tennis, Ryan (Jessica) Peter, Lindsey (Mo) Mathew, and Renae (Kyle) Hilliard, her brother Jack (Sandy) Emmons, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, five step-grandchildren:  Randy (Stefani) Medler, Allan (Amanda) Medler, Cori Medler, Adam Medler, and Tesha Weiss, eighteen great-grandchildren, and nine step great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant brother James Emmons, stepdaughter Linda Riggs, and step-granddaughter Amy Adams.

 She worked for twenty-five years at Wabash General Hospital as a Registered Nurse. Carole was very family oriented and loved spending time with them. She loved dancing, writing poetry, and playing games. Carole and her husband Frederick loved traveling together. They owned and operated She N. I., Inc. Oil Company and was also a distributor for Filter Queen Vacuum Cleaners out of Allendale, Illinois. Carole enjoyed attending church at the First Christian Church-Disciples of Christ in Mount Carmel, Illinois.

Clarence D. “Danny” Fulkerson, 63

Clarence D. “Danny” Fulkerson, 63, of Pekin, Indiana, passed away, Saturday, September 23, 2023, at home. He was born on August 19, 1960, in Mount Carmel, Illinois, the son of Clarence Jerry Fulkerson and Eva May Doades.

Danny faithfully served his country in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Mount Carmel High School Graduating Class of 1979. During his high school years, he was a member of Aces Football and Wrestling Teams. Danny worked as a Boilermaker for twenty-one years. He was a “cat dad” who dearly loved his special kitty, Jewels. Danny enjoyed spending time with his family and having coffee with friends. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Danny leaves behind his father, Jerry Fulkerson; two brothers, Ronnie Fulkerson, and Michael Perkins; aunts, Este Erdman, Deanie Sherman, Joyce Cullison, Janet Carrie, Helen Fulkerson; and many loved cousins.

Danny was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Eva May, and Mike Perkins.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Gospel Kingdom Church.

Ronald Stuessel, 79

Ronald Stuessel, 79, Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Saturday September 23, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Services will be held Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at 1:00 pm, in the chapel of Short-Cunningham Funeral Home, in Mt. Carmel, IL, with Rev. Gary Underwood officiating. A burial will follow in Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday September 27, 2023, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in the chapel of Short-Cunningham Funeral Home.

Ron was born to the late Charles Edward and Bernice (Spond) Stuessel on November 11, 1943, in Evansville, Indiana. He was a 1962 graduate from Mt. Carmel High School. Ron married Patricia English on October 6, 1962, in Mt. Carmel. To this union three children were born:  Robbin (Bruce) Ford, Jill (Francis) Speth, and Jason (Joni) Stuessel. Also surviving are three grandchildren Zachary (Erika) Ford, Thessa (Charley) Adams, and Jaxton Stuessel; six great-grandchildren Macy, Max, and Graham Ford and Tinley, Parker, and Preston Adams; one brother Gary (Jeanie) Stuessel, one sister Tonja Mollenhauer, brother-in-law Steve (Barbara) English, and one sister-in-law Beverly Stuessel. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Nicholas Ford, and siblings Bob and Ed Stuessel and LaVerne Sales.

Ron worked at Snap-On Tools, retiring after 38 years. He was a member of the General Baptist Church in Mt. Carmel. He was also a member of the Mt. Carmel Lions Club, Elks Lodge #715, and MCHS Boosters Club. Ron loved to fish, especially on the waters at Kentucky Lake, coached Jason’s little league baseball teams and enjoyed hunting.

Jane Danelle Wickiser, 78

Jane Danelle Wickiser, 78, of Allendale, Illinois, passed away Thursday, September 14,, 2023, at the Linda White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana.

She was born December 3, 1944, to Gerald and Marie Fonner in Flint, Michigan. She married the love of her life, Ronald Dean Wickiser, on March 28, 1961, in Mattoon, Illinois. They were married for almost 50 years before his passing in 2011.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 24th, from 1-3:00pm at the chapel of Short Funeral Home, Mt. Carmel, with the funeral following at 3:00pm. Burial will be at 12 noon on Monday, September 25th, at Dodge Grove Cemetery, Mattoon, IL.

Jane was an active member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

She spent the last 38 years of her career working for Health Insurance Associates in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Her co-workers became her second family, and she loved them all dearly. She became lifelong friends with her clients whom she treasured and cared for. They trusted her implicitly, and she often spent long hours helping and listening to those that needed someone to talk to.

Her relationship with her Savior, Jesus Christ, guided Jane in everything she did. Possessing a true servant’s heart, she faithfully cared for her family and friends. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her great joy.

She is survived by her daughter Lisa L. (Edward) Jamison of Mt. Carmel; son John C. (Marcella) Wickiser of Pekin, IL; brother Joseph (Teresa) Fonner of Lerna, IL; sister-in-law Anita McClung of Brownsburg, IN; and sister-in-law Dawn Fonner of Decatur, IL. Also surviving are grandchildren David (Dawn) Hurlbut II of Evansville, IN; Clayton (Haley) Jamison of Carmi, IL; Alice Wickiser and Mary Wickiser both of Pekin, IL; Scott (Mary) Jamison of Evansville, IN; Shea (Jason) Brock of Mt. Carmel, IL; Jeff Homan of Owensville, IN; Mark Homan and Jennifer Guard both of Mt. Carmel, IL; great-grandchildren Reece Jamison, Sophia Jamison, Carsyn Jamison and Shiloh Jamison all of Carmi, IL; Evan Hurlbut and Savanna Hurlbut of Evansville, IN; Cole Jamison and Claire Jamison of Evansville, IN; Tyler (Elizabeth) Jamison of Evansville, IN ; Nevaeh Brock, Wyatt Brock, and Fletcher Brock of Mt. Carmel, IL; Kracell Guard of Mt. Carmel, IL; Kendal (Satchel) Patberg of Mt. Carmel, IL; Kenadie Homan of Mt. Carmel, IL. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Ronald, sister Janice Strater, brother Jerry Fonner, brother-in-law, Duane Wickiser, and sister-in-law, Lottie Wickiser.

Jack Mike Keepes, 57

Jack Mike Keepes, 57, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at his residence with his family by his side. He was born on January 5, 1966 in Germany, the son of Carl P. and Charlotte Ann (Greene) Keepes. Mike married Dixie Bump in June 2005 and together they enjoyed eighteen years of marriage.

Mike was the happiest when he was outdoors and loved to go fishing. He was a very hard worker where he spent many years working in the oilfield. Mike enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Mike will be remembered by his wife, Dixie Keepes; daughters, Molly Keepes, Katlyn Smitly, and Felicia Smitly; grandchildren, Keeley, Bella, Amyia, and Kyndal; siblings, Chris Keepes, Selena Keepes, Carla Howell, and twin sister, Michelle (Greg) Anthis; many loved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Frank Keepes; and niece, Rebecca Anthis.

In keeping with Mike’s wishes cremation will take place and no formal services will be held at this time.

Jacqueline Sue “Jackie” Haase, 56, of Mt. Carmel, peacefully passed away Friday, September 15, 2023, at Linda White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana, surrounded by her loving family.

 A funeral mass will be held, Monday September 18, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 125 W. 5th Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

 Visitation will be Sunday, September 17, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The Rosary will take place at 2:30 p.m.

Jackie was born to the late Duane D. Deisher and Paulette Wheatley on May 3, 1967, in Mt. Carmel,  Illinois. She was a 1985 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School and graduated from Colborn’s Academy of Beauty Culture. On August 6, 1994, Jackie married David Lee Haase at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. To this union four children were born:  Megan Haase (Tyler Linson), Michael Haase, Katie Haase and Steven Haase, all of Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Along with her children, surviving are her siblings: Stacey (Mark) Goodson of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, and Tereasa (Matthew) Means of Knoxville, Tennessee; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Preceding Jackie in death was her parents.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mt. Carmel and Daughters of Isabella. Jackie worked at Paulette’s Flower Basket for many years.  She enjoyed crafts and Stamping Up crafting. Jackie loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed planning events, such as their birthday parties.

Betty L. Tipton, 90

Betty L. Tipton, 90, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 15, 2023, at Oakview Heights Continuous Care and Rehab with her loving family by her side.  She was born on March 6, 1933 in Vandalia, Illinois, the daughter of Jack and Iva May (Davis) Warner.

 Betty was a loving mother and grandmother and treasured the time she spent with family.  In her free time, Betty enjoyed crochet work and tending to her flower garden.  Betty also liked being outdoors and taking care of her fish pond.   She worked at St. Joseph Catholic School in Olney and Stringtown, IL as a cook for many years and enjoyed preparing meals for the students.  She will be missed by her family and friends.

 Betty will be remembered by her two sons, Gary Tipton and wife, Cindy, Mike Tipton and wife, Kay; one daughter, Rachael Ingram and husband, Jimmy; son in law, Marvin Ginder; grandchildren, Danielle, Justin, Steven, Jon, Sarah, Andy, Tyler, Renee, Cole, Kayla, TaLoni, Brock, Wade and Beau; twenty-three great grandchildren; two brothers, Richard (Debbie) Warner and Tom Warner.

 Betty was preceded in death by her parents; son, Joseph Tipton; daughter, Thea Ginder; granddaughter, M’Leah Ginder; and seven siblings.

 A private family graveside service will be held at Dundas Cemetery in Richland County, Illinois with Father Robert Zwilling officiating.

Thelma Imogene “Jean” Davis, 94

Thelma Imogene “Jean” Davis, 94, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Wabash General Hospital with her family at her side.

She was born October 2, 1928, in Pike County, Indiana, to Willard B. and Pearl Mary (Smith) Copeland. She graduated from Spurgeon High School in 1948.

Jean married Charles H. Davis on September 12, 1953, and they shared 47 years together before his passing in February 2000.  To this union two children were born:  Lana K. (Mark) Ballard and Kevin D. Davis. In addition to the surviving children are two grandchildren, Johanna (Kraig) Estes and Andrew Ballard; seven great grandchildren, Ashlynn, Austin and Finleigh Ballard, Charlotte, Lilah, Penelope and Isabel Estes; a sister, Beulah Mae Copeland; a brother, Frank (Linda) Copeland; and many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; brother Willard (Mary) Copeland, Jr.; and sister, Suzi (Paul) Owens.

Jean was a longtime member of Asbury Chapel Church.  She graduated from Colbern’s Academy of Beauty Culture and was a licensed beautician for many years. She worked at the garment factory until her retirement in 1990. 

She was a loving mother, grandma and GiGi.  Her Hobbies included gardening, crafts, knitting, crocheting, and quilting.  Jean was a very good cook.  For many years she and Charles enjoyed traveling and after his death she traveled with her sister Beulah.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Short-Cunningham Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.  Funeral services will follow visitation at 1:00 p.m. with burial at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
