Betty Ruth Ankenbrandt, 96, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 16, 2025, at Villas of Holly Brook surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on August 22, 1928, in Owensville, Indiana, the daughter of Lewis and Lula (Wilson) Williams. Betty married Farroll Ankenbrandt on October 20, 1950, and together they enjoyed forty-one years of marriage until his passing on January 20, 1992.
Betty will be lovingly remembered as a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was deeply passionate about nurturing young minds and dedicated twenty-nine years to teaching in Allendale for nine years and Mount Carmel for twenty years. Above all, Betty was proud of her boys and treasured time with her family. She was an avid reader who cherished the quiet moments spent with a good book. Betty was a faithful member of First General Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as a Sunday school teacher and was actively involved in the Women’s Ministry. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Betty will be remembered by her three sons, Mark Ankenbrandt and wife, Jan of Mount Carmel, Richard Ankenbrandt and wife, Diana of Huntley, IL, Paul Ankenbrandt and wife, Candy of Mount Carmel; six grandchildren, Janaya Michele (Paul David) Scaletta, Aaron Owen Ankenbrandt, Ryan Richard (Courtney) Ankenbrandt, Matthew Michael Ankenbrandt, Shawn Carter (Aubree) Ankenbrandt, and Keri Sue (Logan) Brinegar; three great grandchildren, Holly Marie, Valerie Ruth, and Vivian Michele Scaletta; brother in law, Vernon Deutsch; many loved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Farroll; infant baby brother, James; four sisters, Ellen, Dorothy. Louise, and Delores.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at the First General Baptist Church in Mount Carmel.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at the First General Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Underwood officiating. Burial will follow at Lick Prairie Cemetery where Betty will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Farroll.
Memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s memory to First General Baptist Church.
