Gunner Matthew Hyatt, 6, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025. He was born on May 21, 2019 in Evansville, Indiana, the son of Steven and Kayla (Engel) Hyatt. Gunner lovingly earned the nickname “Gunny Bunny” by his family.

Gunner was a joyful and fun-spirited little boy whose laughter brightened every room and whose heart was full of adventure. He was the happiest outdoors-whether he was playing baseball, fishing by the water or exploring the woods hunting. He shared a special bond with his daddy, especially when they were working side by side in the garage, and he loved playing Fortnite with his mommy, their time together was filled with fun and giggles. Gunner looked up to his big brother and sister and loved nothing more than playing and laughing with them. He had a huge love for monster trucks and never missed a chance to go mud riding with his family. Gunner just completed kindergarten at Mount Carmel Elementary School. Gunner lived life with a fearless spirit, a playful heart, and a smile that will never be forgotten.

Gunner will be remembered by his parents, Steven and Kayla Hyatt; big brother, Granger Hyatt; big sister, Myah Hyatt; paternal grandparents, Tracy (Tim) Ingram, Doug (Gioconda) Hyatt; maternal grandparents, Stephanie (John) Reed; aunts and uncles, Bethany Hyatt, JT Ingram, Hunter Ingram, Stacie (Brycen) Neikirk, Karen (Mark, Jr.) Childers, Sierra (Bryce) Gilbert, Adam (Marie) Reed and Jake Reed; paternal great grandparents, Larry (Julie) Hyatt, Eula Ingram, and Jim Landers; maternal great grandmother, Linda Reed; many loved cousins, great aunts and uncles.

Gunner was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jim Ingram, Tonna Odom, and Joann Landers; maternal great grandparents, Dianne (Maurice) Willett, Bud Sutton and Dr. Reverend David Reed.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Friday, June 6, 2025 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 6, 2025, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Pastor Harry Thomason officiating. Burial will follow at Lick Prairie Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Gunner’s memory at First National Bank of Allendale and Mount Carmel in care of Steven & Kayla Hyatt. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or can be mailed to Keepes Funeral Home, 1500 North Cherry Street, Mount Carmel, IL 62863.
