Debra I. Hils, 71

Debra I. Hils, 71, of Princeton, Indiana passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025.

Debra was born on February 11, 1954, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois the daughter of Jesse K. Ashby and Vivian G. (Porter) Ashby.

Debra loved her dogs as well as reading.

She previously worked at Bank of Mt. Carmel as well as Mt. Carmel Lumber Company. She attended Wallace Community College after moving to Dothan, Alabama and took transcription courses which later facilitated Debra opening her own medical transcription company, Hils Transcription Service.

Debra leaves behind 2 brothers: Kenneth (Patricia) Ashby of Mt. Carmel, IL and Robert (Lea) Ashby of Princeton, Indiana; nieces Tammy (Curtis) Whitten and Kristi (Matt) Collins; nephew, Tyler Ashby; great-nieces, Adeline Collins, Natalie Collins, and Maddie Collins; and great-nephew, Lucas (Summer) Whitten.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Tolly Ashby.

A private family service will be held with burial at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.
