Traffic Stop Leads to 221 Grams of Methamphetamine

Putnam County - Friday, January 25, 2019, at 3:00 pm, an Indiana State Trooper observed a white Ford Fusion following too close on Interstate 70 eastbound near the 40 mile marker.  The driver of the vehicle was identified as Mindy Wilson, 35, of Mt Vernon, Illinois.  During the course of the traffic stop the trooper observed criminal indicators.  Consent was received from Wilson for a vehicle search.

During the search of the vehicle, the trooper discovered 221 grams of methamphetamine located in the trunk. The estimated street value of the methamphetamine is $4,500.  It was also discovered that the vehicle Wilson was driving had been reported stolen out of Jefferson County, Illinois earlier that morning.  Wilson was traveling from Mt. Vernon, IL to South Bend, IN.  Wilson was taken into custody and transported to the Putnam County Jail.

CHARGES:

  • Dealing Methamphetamine level 2 felony

  • Possession of Methamphetamine level 3 felony

  • Vehicle theft level 6 felony

  • Following too close

Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

ILLINOIS STATE POLICE ARREST SUBJECT FOR HOMICIDE

Tamms, Illinois – Illinois State Police (ISP) officials arrested Johnny L. Warren, 36-year-old male of Tamms, IL, on murder charges today in relation to last week’s shooting. Warren has been charged with five counts of First Degree Murder by Alexander County State’s Attorney E. Zachary Gowin.

On January 11, 2019, the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call of a subject with a gunshot wound at a residence in Tamms, Illinois.  Upon arrival, it was discovered that the victim, Stacy Carter-Gonzales, had succumbed to her injuries sustained from the wounds.

Warren is currently being held at Pulaski County Jail on a 1-million-dollar bond. Assisting agencies include, Alexander County Sherriff’s Office, Cape Girardeau Missouri Police Department, and Missouri Highway Patrol.  

The investigation is on-going. No other information is available at this time. The ISP is encouraging anyone who may have information about this homicide to contact ISP District 13 at (618)524-2171.

The public is reminded that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Traffic stop leads to arrest of Kentucky woman for driving without ever receiving a license

On January 22, 2019, at 1:39 p.m. Gibson County Deputy Zach Lienemann conducted a traffic stop on a Silver 2005 Ford 500 for speeding on US 41 near County Road 550 South. Upon approaching the vehicle Deputy Lienemann identified the driver as 27 year old Amber Krieg of Henderson, Kentucky. During a roadside investigation Deputy Lienemann ran Ms. Krieg through the Kentucky Bureau of Motor Vehicles and discovered that she had never obtained an operator’s license. At that point Deputy Lienemann placed Ms. Krieg into custody and transported her to the Gibson County Jail. Upon arriving at the Jail Ms. Krieg was charged with Operating a Vehicle While Never Licensed. She has since posted a $450 bond. 

Assisting Deputy Lienemann in his investigation was Deputy U.B. Smith.

Traffic stop leads to arrest of Vincennes man on Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

On January 24, 2019, at 7:57 a.m. Gibson County Deputy Loesch conducted a traffic stop on a White 2012 Chevy Colorado for speeding on US 41 near County Road 225 North. Upon approaching the vehicle Deputy Loesch detected the odor of Marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. At that point Deputy Loesch began a roadside investigation that resulted in the driver 64 year old Douglas Lemme of Vincennes being taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Jail. Upon arriving at the Gibson County Jail Mr. Lemme was charged with Possession of Paraphernalia. He has since posted a $450 bond.

Shimkus Collecting Valentines for Heroes

Congressman John Shimkus (R, Illinois-15) is once again asking constituents to participate in his annual “Valentines for Heroes” program. The congressman’s district offices will collect valentines for distribution throughout the region to veterans and those currently serving in the military.

“Tens of thousands of valentines have come into my offices every year since we began Valentines for Heroes,” Shimkus said. “Elementary and middle school classes, church youth groups, homeschoolers, senior citizens and constituents from every corner of the district have been overwhelmingly generous and supportive of our military men and women, past and present.”

This year, valentines will be accepted at Shimkus’ offices until February 8 and will then be distributed to local VA and military facilities before Valentine’s Day.

Former MCPD Officer Welcomed To District 22 As State Trooper

The Illinois State Police District 22 welcomes two new Troopers from Cadet
Class 128

ULLIN- The Illinois State Police District 22 welcomes two new troopers to
the district who joined the ranks of the Illinois State Police on December
28, 2018 after CC 128 graduated from the Illinois State Police Academy in
Springfield. The officers have begun their 14 week Field Training Program
in the district.  The officers will be working with a Field Training
Officer (FTO) implementing the knowledge and skills they learned in the
academy.


Commander Captain Alvey stated:  District 22 is very fortunate to receive
two fine young men into our district.  Their presence will undoubtedly
bolster our efforts to insure the safety of the citizens of the lower
seven counties we serve and those who travel through it.
District 22 would like to welcome the following officers to the District.


Adrian Meyer-
Trooper Meyer is a graduate of Lawrenceville High School, Wabash Valley
College, and Vincennes University.  Meyer worked 3 years as a police
officer for Mount Carmel Police Department prior to joining the Illinois
State Police.

Damon Miers-
Trooper Miers is a graduate of Rochester High School.  Miers served 11
years in the United States Army where he served as an Infantryman and
Recruiter with three deployments to Afghanistan (Operation Enduring
Freedom).  Miers currently serves as a Staff Sergeant in the Illinois Army
National Guard and is assigned to the Illinois Military Academy.

METH CONSPIRACY SENDS RICHLAND COUNTY MAN TO PRISON FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS

Justin R. Mason, 35, of Olney, Illinois, has been sentenced to 262 months in federal prison on methamphetamine-related charges, Steven D. Weinhoeft, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced today.

Mason previously pleaded guilty to a one-count federal indictment charging him with conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine (Ice) or 500 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing methamphetamine. The conspiracy occurred between August 2017 and March 2018, in Richland County and elsewhere.

Two other Olney residents were also indicted with Mason. Brianna N. Bare, 26, and Harvey L. Ireland, 35, have both pleaded guilty to their role in the charged conspiracy. Bare also pleaded guilty to two counts of meth distribution and was sentenced on December 27, 2018, to 87 months imprisonment. Ireland is scheduled to be sentenced on February 13, 2019.

The investigation in this case was conducted by the Richland County Sheriff’s Office.
