Driver Jailed For Suspended License

07/11/2018-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 47 year old Jodi K. Parrish of Mt. Carmel after she was stopped early this morning.  During the traffic stop it was discovered that Parrish was driving on a suspended driver's license.  Parrish was transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was cited for driving while license is suspended and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.  Parrish is being held pending the posting of bond.

Man Jailed On 3 FTA Warrants

07/10/2018-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 29 year old Thomas E. Fugate of Mt. Carmel after police responded to 418 Cedar Street reference a domestic situation.  During the course of their investigation it was discovered that Fugate was wanted on three Wabash County failure to appear warrants.  Fugate was transported to the Wabash County Jail where the warrants were served.  Fugate is currently in jail awaiting the posting of bond.

Peoria Man Faces Various Charge After Traffic Stop By MCPD

07/08/2018-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 60 year old Benny L. Lamar of Peoria after he was stopped by a Mt. Carmel Police Officer.  During the traffic stop it was discovered that Lamar was driving on a suspended Indiana driver's license.  It is further alleged that Lamar was in possession of suspected methamphetamine.  Lamar was transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Lamar was also issued a citation for possession of cannabis and driving while license is suspended.  Lamar was held pending the posting of bond.

Tip Leads To Meth Arrest

On July 6, 2018, Mt. Carmel Police and the Wabash County Sheriff's Department received a tip that 33 year old Brandon H. Rayborn of Mt. Carmel was at 1015 W. 5th Street and was in possession of methamphetamine.  Police responded to the home and reported a strong chemical odor smell which is associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine.  Rayborn eventually answered the door and confirmed that he was on probation for a methamphetamine charge from 2017. The arresting officer's requested Rayborn submit to a urinalysis test as part of his probation.  Rayborn asked the officer if he could retrieve his keys so he could lock up his residence and when he took the officer into his residence, the officer observed suspected methamphetamine setting out on a mirror.  Rayborn was arrested and transported to the  Wabash County Jail where he is being charged with possession of methamphetamine.  Mt. Carmel Police was assisted by the Wabash County Sheriff's Office.

No Seat Belt Leads To Arrests

07/06/2018-Mt. Carmel Police arrested two individuals after they were stopped for not wearing a seat belt.  During the traffic stop it was discovered that 33 year old Coty C. Fender of Owensville was operating a 1989 Ford on a suspended driver's license and no insurance.  Fender was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was cited for driving suspended and for not having insurance.  The passenger in the vehicle was identified as Jenna L. Fuller, age 27, of Owensville.  Fuller was arrested after police located drug paraphernalia in her belongings.  Fuller was transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.  Both were released after posting bond.

Driving While Suspended Leads To Mt. Carmel Woman's Arrest

07/06/2018Mt. Carmel Police arrested 41 year old Donna M. Angle of Mt. Carmel after she was stopped by Mt. Carmel Police for driving while license is suspended.  The arresting officer reported seeing Angle operating a 2006 Pontiac in the 900 block of Walnut Street.  Police stopped her and placed her into custody.  Angle was transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was cited for driving while license is suspended and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.  Angle was released after posting bond.

Ellery Couple Arrested On Weapons Charge

07/06/2018-Mt. Carmel Police arrested an Ellery, Illinois couple after they were stopped by Mt. Carmel Police investigating a possible theft.  During the traffic stop it was discovered that 37 year old Christa R. Fisher and her husband, 31 year old Matthew B. Fisher, were in possession of a Stun Gun.  Neither individual has a valid Illinois FOID card.  Both subjects were transported to the Wabash County Jail where they were charged with unlawful use of a weapon.  Both subjects were held pending the posting of bond.

Mt. Carmel Man Arrested For Driving On Suspended License

07/08/2018-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 47 year old Donald Scott Baird of Mt. Carmel after he was observed operating a motor vehicle on a suspended driver's license.  Baird was stopped in 700 block of Poplar Street and placed under arrest.  Baird was transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was cited for driving while license is suspended.  Baird was released after posting $150.00 cash bond.

Railroad Closure Coming for SR 168 Near Fort Branch

GIBSON COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces a complete road closure on State Road 168 near Fort Branch for a railroad crossing repair.

Beginning on or around Tuesday July 10, railroad contractors will close S.R. 168 west of U.S. 41 for a railroad crossing repair. Contractors expect the closure to take about nine days depending upon weather conditions. During the project, the closure will be in place around the clock. Though local traffic will have access up to the point of closure. The official detour for this railroad crossing repair uses U.S. 41, S.R. 65, and S.R. 64. Work is expected to be complete by July 18 depending upon weather conditions.

INDOT urges drivers to slow down and stay alert near crews.
