Patricia Kay (Stallins) Summers, 71, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025. She was born on November 9, 1953, in Evansville, Indiana, the daughter of Arnold and Elizabeth (Barns) Stallins, and raised by her stepfather, Ralph Hajek. She married Robert Summers on February 15, 1986, and together they enjoyed thirty-nine years of marriage.

Pat never met a stranger. She liked to talk and make people laugh. Pat loved shopping and often made shopping an event for her family and friends. She had a love for flowers, always making their front porch beautiful. Pat told everyone “don’t send flowers when I die, bring them to me while I’m still here to enjoy them”. Pat loved diamond rings and collected several of them, often wearing one on each finger. She really loved her bling.

Pat leaves behind her beloved husband, Bob; daughter, Lonna Downard; son, Steven (Kisha) Summers; grandchildren, Taylor Bettis, Lathan Barker, Zayne and Violet Summers; Brothers, Don (Kathy) Stallins, Mark (Emma) Stallins; sister, Chrell (Butch) Jameson; half-sisters, Vicki (Sam) Folsom, Libby Dix; several nieces and nephews.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather; brothers, Mike Stallins, Tim (Becky) Stallins;

Charles P. Pierce, 85

Charles P. Pierce, 85, of Lancaster Illinois, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025, at his residence peacefully in his sleep.

There are no services planned at this time. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Charles was born in Edwards County to Kenneth and Bernice (Macer) Pierce on September 23, 1939. He graduated from Allendale High School. He married Patty McKay on September 22, 1961, at Adams Corner Church by Pastor Earl Lytle. Charles served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked at Snap-On for thirty years as a supervisor.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Brian (Dianna) Pierce of Mt. Carmel, Carter (Christina) Pierce of Mt. Carmel; four grandchildren, Amanda Tomes, Shelby Jones, Ally Bunting, Addy Bell; seven great grandchildren with one on the way; siblings, Theda Bradshaw, Sandra Akers, and Robert Pierce; and his best friend, “BudDog”.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patty; two sisters Debbie Pierce and Mary Pierce; and two brothers, Carl Pierce and Harold Pierce.

Charles loved to spend time with family. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing and hunting. He liked woodworking and had his own sawmill. He enjoyed the annual Pierce Chowder.

Penny Sue (Campbell) Loewen, 65

Penny Sue (Campbell) Loewen, 65, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away March 2, 2025, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

A service celebrating her life will be held Friday, March 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Short-Cunningham Funeral Home. A burial will follow the service at Oaklawn Cemetery, 1473 Pulleyville Road, St. Francisville, Illinois.

Visitation will be Friday, March 7, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home.

Penny was born on September 18, 1959, in Lawrenceville, Illinois to the late Ralph “Jack” Campbell and Louella V. (Longbons) Campbell. In her youth, Penny’s passion for performing brought her to southwest Texas where she began her musical career working with Happy Shahan at Alamo Village and eventually working alongside many talented artists including Randy Travis.

On May 18, 2003, Penny married the love of her life, Rodney V. Loewen, in The Dalles, Oregon, and together they celebrated 21 wonderful years of marriage.

Penny is survived by her beloved husband, Rodney V. Loewen; her two children, Daniel Kyle Ingram of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, and Candice Cheyenne Perez of Brackettville, Texas; her two siblings, Jackie Lee Campbell of St. Francisville, Illinois, and Loretta Moody of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; and her five grandchildren: Kylie Rose Ingram, Christopher Matthew Ingram, Tyler Perez, Calista Perez, and Travis Perez. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Louis Campbell.

Penny’s life was a beautiful symphony of humor, talent, and warmth. A gifted and passionate musician, she was known for her incredible voice, songwriting ability, and skillful guitar playing. Music was not just her talent; it was her way of connecting with others and leaving a mark on their hearts. Along with several noteworthy accomplishments throughout her lifetime, Penny was also a published author, having written ‘God, LORD God, Discovering Our True Identity’. Whether she was performing or simply sharing a song, story, or spiritual message with loved ones, Penny’s essence shone through in everything she did.

It wasn’t just her music that made her unforgettable. Penny had a quick wit and a sharp sense of humor that made her the life of any room. She always had just the right thing to say to make you laugh, often at the perfect moment, and her charm and beauty were second only to her confidence. She was the kind of person who could lift others up with just a look or a word. Her laughter was infectious, and her humor, which she found in even the most challenging situations, was a true gift to all who knew her.

Penny’s legacy is one of love, joy, and creative expression. Her music will continue to echo in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to hear it, and her warmth and humor will live on in the many lives she touched. A small museum containing her legacy can be seen at the St. Francisville High School.

Vereal L. (Green) Sutton, 92

Vereal L. (Green) Sutton, 92, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Wabash General Hospital.  She was born on April 26, 1932 in Vincennes, IN, the daughter of Melvin Green and Margaret (Garold) Carter.  Vereal married William Robert Sutton on December 27, 1948 in Vincennes, IN.  William preceded her in death on August 30, 1995 following forty-seven years of marriage.

 Vereal will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose greatest joy was cherishing the time spent with her beloved family.  She delighted in spending time in the kitchen, preparing meals for her family, and had a special gift for cooking enough to feed a crowd.   Vereal loved shopping trips with her family and friends.  Before retiring, Vereal worked at Wabash General Hospital for twenty plus years.  She will be missed by her family and all who knew her.

 Vereal will be remembered by her five children, Fred Sutton, William (Mary) Sutton, Jeffrey (Missy) Sutton, Alice Jacobs and Jean Humphreys; many loved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.    

 Vereal was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin Green and Margaret (Garold) Carter; husband, William R. Sutton; two grandsons; and one great great grandchild; son in law, Danny Humphreys; siblings, Vivian Hoehn and Charles Green.

Also surviving Mary Jo are 4 grandchildren, Clint Bolden, Brent Bolden, Branden Jaquemai, and Tracy Brainard; and 7 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; 4 brothers; and 2 sisters.

Mary Jo worked at Potter & Brumfield for 40+ years as an assembler.

Delphia (Del) Mae McCormick, 89, of Grayville, IL passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at her home in Grayville surrounded by her loving family.

Per Delphia’s wishes, she will be cremated, and no formal service will be held

Delphia was born on September 6, 1935, in Grayville, IL to Ernest C. McKenzie and Ida M. (Mobley) McKenzie. She was born at home and delivered by her grandmother. She weighed 2 pounds, 2 ounces. Her mother kept her warm by putting her in a shoe box in the coal oven. She wore her dad’s handkerchiefs as a diaper and was not expected to live.

She spent most of her life caring for others as a home healthcare worker. She loved flowers and enjoyed being outside.

Delphia is survived by her 3 children: Sharon (James) Brendel, Rick A. McCormick, and Trina G. Robertson; 6 grandchildren: Sherry Brendel, Anthony (Brittany) Hoefling, Amanda Mofield, Krista McCormick, Amber McCormick, and Logan McCormick; 15 great-grandchildren: Brandon, Blaine, Braelyn, Landon, Saraphina, Malaya, Aleigha, Elijah, Jeremiah, Ayla, Kameron, Chace, Zander, Ellie, and one on the way; 1 sister and best friend, Zelma O’Neil; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Clyde (Jack), William, and Ezra (Earl) McKenzie; 2 granddaughters, Megan M. McCormick and Sarah L. Robertson; 1 grandson, Zachary (Zach) Robertson; and 1 great-grandson, DeAndre McCormick.

Donald (Don) Craig, 74

Donald (Don) Craig of Wabash County passed away on Tuesday, February 18 in Newburgh, Indiana. Don was born on February 2, 1951 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana to John and Doris (Chapman) Craig. Don earned his Master’s of Divinity in Pastoral Counseling from Lincoln Christian Seminary and, later in life, a Master’s in Education from Oakland City University. Don had a heart for helping others and loved both his patients and his students. 

Don married Sandra Shain in 1974 and began an almost 51 year journey with her. He is survived by his wife, Sandy, daughter Melissa (Nic) Conner, and son, Peter (Ashley) Craig. Also surviving are the loves of his life, his grandbabies: Craig Conner, Myles Conner, Deacon Conner, Harper Craig, and Millie Craig. Also surviving are his brother, Jim (Linda) Craig, sister, Jean (Bob) Guy, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant grandbaby, Aiden; brother, Richard Craig; and father-in-law Pete Shain.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 2 at Albion Presbyterian Church – 110 Elm St. - Albion, Illinois with visitation from 2 until 3 p.m. and a service following.

Charles W. “Chuck” Skidmore, 80

Charles W. “Chuck” Skidmore, 80, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025 at his residence.

Services for Chuck will be Thursday, February 27, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Short Cunningham Funeral Home. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on February 27, 2025 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Lick Prairie Cemetery with full Military Honors.

Chuck was born on April 2, 1944 in Morgantown, West Virginia to Franklin Charles and Lillian (Morgan) Skidmore. He graduated University High School in Morgantown, West Virginia and served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked as the Wabash County Animal Control Officer.

He married Edna Mae Deisher on October 22, 1966 at Pleasant Grove Church. They had fifty-eight years together. To this union there were three children born, Deana (Jeff) LaVarier of Mt. Carnel, Shawn (Darin) Campbell of Mt. Carmel, and Jonathan Skidmore of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren, Trent (Kaleigh) LaVarier, Taylor ( Kaeli) Lavarier, Connor (MyLeah) LaVarier, Dakota Campbell, Shealey Campbell; great grandchildren, Cash, Sawyer and Beau LaVarier. Also surviving are his brothers Harry (Cherrell) Skidmore of Pikeville, Kentucky and Rob Skidmore of Morgantown, West Virginia.

He was a member of Wabash County Quail Club, Wabash County Farm Bureau and Mt Carmel Ham Radio KB9KHB. Chuck was an avid coon hunter, enjoyed riding motorcycles and watching NASCAR races. He often traveled to visit family in West Virginia.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ward and his wife Barbara Skidmore and nephew Frankie Skidmore.

Dennis Alan Daniel, 78

Dennis Alan Daniel, 78, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025 at home with his loving family by his side. He was born on June 1, 1946 in Mount Vernon, Illinois, the son of Clarence and Evalyn (Veatch) Daniel. Dennis married Diana Doty on August 1, 1970 and together they enjoyed fifty-four years of marriage centered on their family.

Dennis will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished time spent with those he loved most. Dennis along with his wife proudly owned and operated Daniel Christmas Tree Farm, finding joy in nurturing and growing beautiful trees that brought holiday cheer to many families in our community. Dennis was an avid MCHS sports fan and some of his fondest memories were cheering on his boys in football. In his younger years, Dennis had a passion for slow-pitch softball, fishing on the river; especially catfishing at night. Among Dennis’s hobbies, he enjoyed working outdoors in his garden, spending time on the golf course with family and friends. He also loved attending auctions and discovering unique finds. Dennis was a dedicated machinist where he worked at Pacific Press & Sheer for over thirty-five years. He always looked forward to his trips to South Padre Island and Monterey, California with his wife. Dennis will be missed by his family and all who knew him.

Dennis will be remembered by his wife, Diana Daniel; two sons, Dock Daniel and wife, Kelsey and Drew Daniel and wife, Melinda; five grandchildren, Fagan, McHarg, Teagan, Emerson and Brynn; siblings, John (Joyce) Daniel; Kathy (Tony) Rice and Gayla (Ron) Case; several nieces, nephews and in-laws. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents.

Donald Eddie Carmickle, 68

Donald Eddie Carmickle, 68, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, peacefully passed away Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Eddie was born March 15, 1956, the son of John F. and Donna Faith (Minton) Carmickle, in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church.

Eddie was a very happy, outgoing individual that always had a smile on his face. He worked for Wabash Area Vocational Enterprises doing custodial jobs. Eddie loved working on projects at the workshop. He was in the Special Olympics and enjoyed the bowling events. Eddie looked forward to his special friend, Donnie Banks, picking him up every Sunday to attend church and go for coffee.

Left to cherish Eddie’s memory is a friend, Donnie Banks; church friends; caregivers from Morris House; and many friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents and sister, Terry Manko.

Cremation has taken place, and no service will be held.

Madora Belle Haggard, 96

Madora Belle Haggard, 96, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, is now at peace in the arms of her Lord. She passed Saturday, February 15, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Tony Hodgson officiating. Burial beside her loving husband will follow at Antioch Cemetery.

Belle was born July 31, 1928, daughter of Minnie Shaw in Grayville, Illinois. She graduated high school. On August 1, 1948, she married Kenneth Eugene Haggard in Morganfield, Kentucky. They were married 64 years.

Belle was a member of Heartland Worship Center in Mt. Carmel. She worked as manager of the kitchen at Lambert’s Truck Stop, a waitress at the Elks and was a department manager at Target. Belle never met a stranger and was loved by all.

Surviving is a son, Barry Haggard of Mt. Carmel; grandchildren, B. J. Haggard, Ty Haggard, and Gracee Belle Haggard; a great-granddaughter, Ivory Ann Haggard; and several nieces and nephews; and a special niece Donna Ross.

Preceding Belle in death were her parents; husband, Kenneth; sons, Gerald and Brad Haggard; and siblings George Shaw, Alena Ross and Lou Neff.

Linda Lee Evans Pollard, 77

Linda Lee Evans Pollard, 77, of Albion, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at River Oaks in Princeton, Indiana.

She was born August 24, 1947 in Olney, Illinois to Virgil “Bud” and Ava (Rigg) Evans.   

Linda was a member of the Bone Gap Christian Church.  She enjoyed Artistry – she loved drawing, painting, and crafts.  She was a talented cake decorator.  She loved the outdoors, enjoying flowers and was a true animal lover.  Linda had a contagious laugh and never met a stranger.  Her favorite activity was spending time with family and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Evans; her father, Bud Evans; her mother, Ava Evans; and her husband, David Garrett.

She is survived by her children – daughters Michele (Reel) Allen (Jerry); Melinda (Reel) Gill (David) and son Ricky Pollard.  Eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive, as well as brothers Tom Evans and Doug Evans.

Visitation for Linda Lee Evans Pollard will be held on Monday February 17, 2025 at Ingram Meridith Funeral Home in Albion, Illinois.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with funeral services at noon.

Steve E. Alldredge, 60

Steve E. Alldredge, 60, of Calhoun, Illinois, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on September 1, 1964, in Fairfield, Illinois, the son of Lester and Rose (Alldredge) Pritchard.

He was employed as a fork truck operator at Walmart Distribution Center. In his spare time, he enjoyed horseback riding, ATV riding and gardening. Steve was always up for an adventure and loved to make people smile. He touched many people’s hearts, but most importantly, he loved being a father and grandfather. Steve’s presence with his family and friends will be dearly missed.

Steve leaves behind his parents; one son, James Alldredge; one daughter, Amanda (Chris) Zellars; four grandchildren, Layton, Julius, Bryer, Abigail, and one great grandchild on the way; brother, David Pritchard, sisters, Cathy Pritchard, Cindy (Mike) Wright; and close friend, Dina Alldredge.

Steve was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Pritchard.

Bryan Scott Corrie, 74

Bryan Scott Corrie, 74, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Friday, February 7, 2025, at Oakview Nursing and Rehab. He was born on January 24, 1951, in Princeton, Indiana, the son of William F. and Alice M. (Hartman) Corrie.

Bryan worked many years in construction before he retired. He was a member of the Sons of American Legion and served on the Honor Guard for twenty-two years. Bryan was musically talented playing both the guitar and banjo and was a big Willie Nelson fan. He had a lovely voice and was excellent at singing one of his favorite songs, Blue Skies on karaoke. Bryan was a member of Keensburg Christian Church. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Bryan leaves behind two sons, Jason Corrie and wife Kim of Meridian, Idaho, Jed Corrie and wife Melissa of Henderson, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Nicklaus Corrie, Nicole Corrie and Braxton Burris; sister, Jennifer Corrie of Mount Carmel; nephews, Bret and Kit Corrie of San Antonio, Texas.

Bryan was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Diane Corrie, and one infant brother.

James Steven Fisher, 82

James Steven Fisher, 82, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Friday, February 7, 2025, at Wabash General Hospital with family by his side.

Funeral Service for James will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home in Mt. Carmel, with Pastor Daniel Moore officiating. James Steven Fisher was born July 25, 1942, the son of Van D. and Ruby G. (Bare) Fisher in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. He attended Mt. Carmel High School. He married Sandra Lee (Gard) on July 25, 2004. They celebrated twenty years together.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sandra; brothers-in-law Clarence Barney and Larry Barney; and several cousins.

James was a member of the Hope Fellowship Church. He loved to go to church and participate in the singing. He was a very compassionate person. He and his wife enjoyed riding in the city parades. He worked as a janitor at Skeeter Mountain Rest Area.

James was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Tommy D. Fisher.

Robert Dale “Bob” Deisher, 89, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025 at Wabash General Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born on November 26, 1935 in Bone Gap, Illinois, the son of Herbert and Edna Ula (Murphy) Deisher. He faithfully served his Country in the United States Army. Bob married Janice Doty on June 21, 1957 and together they enjoyed sixty-seven years of marriage centered on their family.

Bob will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather who treasured time with his family. He had a passion for woodworking and took great pride in crafting a beautiful cradle for each of his boys when they welcomed their first children into the world. Bob was deeply involved in the Boy Scouts, serving as leader for over fifteen years where he made a lasting impact on many young lives. In his free time, Bob enjoyed working in his garden and was always proud of his tomatoes and green beans to share with the family. He was a dedicated employee who devoted thirty-five years of hard work and commitment to Snap-on Tools. Bob was a member of Church of Christ in Albion, IL. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.

Bob will be remembered by his loving wife, Janice Deisher; three sons, Jeff Deisher and wife, Jeannette, Kent Deisher and wife, Marci, Dave Deisher and wife, Kris; grandchildren, Dustin (Kayla) Deisher, Dathan (Katie) Deisher, Jenna (Fletcher) Brinkmeyer, Erin (Zach) Goldman, Steven (Jade) Deisher, Nicholas (Taylor) Deisher, Jacob (Jessica) Deisher, Sam Deisher, Isabelle (Clayton Halbig) Deisher; great grandchildren, Mason Deisher, Owen Deisher, Aubrey Deisher, Lainey Deisher, Eliza Deisher, Henry Deisher, Hayes Deisher, Beckham Deisher, Bellamy Deisher, Barrett Deisher, Jaxon Goldman, Jace Goldman, Julia Goldman, Ruby Deisher, Pearl Deisher, Liam Hardy, Jack Hardy; brother, Gerald Deisher; many loved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Devin Deisher; siblings, Charles Deisher, Raymond Deisher, Harold Deisher, Dorothy Pope, Maxine Montgomery, Olive Byford, and Mary Kennedy.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 4, 2025, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 5, 2025, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Minister Roger Hillis officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Harold E. Mobley, 89

Harold E. Mobley, 89, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Services will be held Sunday, February 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Short-Cunningham Funeral Home, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Cemetery, 1827 College Drive, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

Visitation will be held at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a Masonic Service being held at 7:00 p.m.

Harold was born to the late Nelson Mobley and Revia Mobley on August 22, 1935, in Mt. Carmel. He was a Mt. Carmel High School alumnus. Harold also served 8 years in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves. Harold married Sharon Waddle on November 27, 1959, in Mt. Carmel and they enjoyed 65 years together. To this union, two beautiful children were born: Jenifer Suzanne Randolph and Brock Edward Mobley.

Left to cherish Harold’s memory is his wife, Sharon Mobley; children, Jenifer Suzanne (Glenn) Randolph of St. Louis, Missouri, and Brock Edward Mobley of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Kiersten (Josiah) Oldham, Rachel (Tim) Michalak, Lauren (Nick) Stahl, and Max Mobley; great-grandchildren, Sloane Michalak, Chandler Michalak, and Vivienne Stahl; and one sister, Beverly Coker of Ft. Branch, Indiana. He is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Danny and Robert Mobley.

Harold was a well-known community leader and was a lifelong resident of Mt. Carmel. He retired as Midwest Region Superintendent from Sohio Pipe Line/BP Oil Company after 37 years. He continued to work in the oil industry after his retirement. Harold was named Wabash Savings Bank Director and had an active role as the fund-raising chairman for the Lions Club Park as well as served on the Wabash Valley College Foundation Board of Directors. He was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ and was stewardship chairman for many years. Harold was very active in the community belonging to many civic and fraternal clubs: The Elks, Lions Club, Wabash Valley College Foundation, Masonic Lodge, where he served as a past Worshipful Master, Eagles, Moose, and Wabash Valley Shrine Club serving as vice-president. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved to travel and including to Alaska, Ireland, Scotland, England, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Italy, Mexico, and vacations in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Michael Eric Collard, 52

Michael Eric Collard, 52, of Mt. Carmel, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. He was born on February 23, 1972, in Mt. Carmel, the son of Michael Collard and Pamela (Hawkins) Collard. Michael was a truck driver for WSI and Industrial Transport Services. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and enjoyed attending games. Most of all, Michael loved spending time with his kids and grandkids.

     Michael is survived by his children, Kaleb (Ashley) Collard and Kelsie (Phillip Burton) Collard, both of Carmi, IL; wife, Algeana Collard of Carmi; his parents, Pamela Moran of Mt. Carmel and Michael and Judy Collard of Danville, IL; grandchildren, Jacob Collard, Kairi Williams, Noah Collard, Jonah Collard, Zolah Collard and Ezrah Collard; siblings, Sheila (Layne) Kihn of Haubstadt, IN. and Dennis Bartley of Danville, IL; nephews, Jordan Brown and Kody Brown. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Verna and Bernie Hawkins, Norma and Charles Collard, and step father Wayne Moran.

     A celebration of life will be held for Michael Collard on Friday, January 31, 2025 with a time of visitation at 4:00 p.m., followed by food and fellowship from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m, at First Baptist Church in Carmi Fellowship Hall. The family requests that everyone wear St. Louis Cardinals apparel or red. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Michael's memory to the family to assist with Michael's medical expenses, and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, who is in charge of arrangements.

Shirley Ann (Gross) Bennett, 89

After a long and fulfilling 89 years of life, Shirley Ann (Gross) Bennett peacefully passed away Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Wabash General Hospital surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Shirley was known for her kind, loving, caring and humorous personality and her strong will, unwavering determination, and love and support for her family.

She was born on January 3, 1936, the daughter of Frank and Gertrude (McKillip) Gross in Darlington, Wisconsin. In 1954, Shirley graduated from Darlington High School. On February 26, 1955, she married the love of her life, Donald H. Bennett at the First Methodist Church in Darlington.

Shirley was of the Methodist faith. Her career started with Charles L. Miller Insurance and retiring at the age of 82 from State Farm Insurance. She was an avid bowler, snowmobiler, bird watcher (especially hummingbirds), and was a devoted Aces football fan. Shirley enjoyed trips to Florida and to the “boat.” She loved her family dearly and adored spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memories are her three children, Vicki (Jake) Dunkel of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Carla (Bernie) Drone and Dean Bennett of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; grandchildren, Jennifer (Kevin) Adrian of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Curtis (Paula) Dunkel of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sabrina (Josh) Staub of Waterloo, Illinois, Samatha (Jake) Newkirk, Jake (Hilary) Drone and Joe (Kayla) Drone all of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Adam and Harrison Dunkel, Elyse Adrian, Ruby, Aleah, Hattie and Asa Newkirk, Amelia, Isabella, Viviene, Valarie and Savannah Staub, Hazel and Josie Drone, and Joe and Kayla Drone’s baby due in August; and siblings, Bob (Laura) Gross of Dodgeville, Wisconsin and Connie Killcoyne of Cameron, Wisconsin.

Preceding Shirley in death were her parents; husband, Don of 60 years of marriage; grandson, Adam M. Dunkel and sister, Jannette Johnson.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025, in the chapel of Short-Cunningham Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. with burial following beside her loving husband, Don.

Visitation is being held Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., the time of the service.

Glenda Bump, 73

Glenda Bump, 73, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at Richland Nursing and Rehab in Olney, Illinois. She was born on July 29, 1951 in Owensville, Indiana, the daughter of Howard and Ruby Richardson. Glenda married James R. Bump and he preceded her in death on October 15, 2018.

Glenda had a very giving heart and was always willing to help others in need. She loved her family and was very proud of her grandchildren. Glenda earned her associates degree in coal mining. She was a homemaker, always giving her best to everything she did. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Glenda will be remembered by her son, Chevy (Kali Curry) Bump; three daughters, Roxanna Gross, Dixie Keepes, and Shelly Jackson; grandchildren, Kaenan Bump, Brayden Crane, Katlyn Shouse, Felicia Smitley, and Molly Keepes; great grandchildren, Keeley, Bella, Amya, Kendal, and Tyree; brother, Keith Story; many loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Jessie Story; one sister; son in law, Jack Keepes.

In keeping with Glenda’s wishes cremation will take place and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date to celebrate her life.
