Tonja Diane (Craig) Stangle, 77

Tonja Diane (Craig) Stangle, 77, of Bridgeport, Illinois, peacefully passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born July 13, 1947, in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the daughter of Raymond Leroy and Geraldine (West) Craig. She graduated from Bridgeport High School.

Tonja was a licensed and practicing beautician for many years. She also was a cook for United Methodist Village, Lawrenceville Hospital, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Lawrenceville. She was a proud member of the St. Francisville American Legion Auxiliary.

Tonja loved to laugh and smile; and she had an artistic side. She liked to crochet, make jewelry and was a gifted painter. She painted a large mural in the cafeteria wall at Lawrenceville Hospital during her tenure as a cook there.

Left to cherish Tonja’s memory are her three children, Jeri Ann Stangle of Bridgepoint, IL, Kimberly Sue Huerta (Gilberto) of Berlin, Maryland, and Charity Rene Tester (Bobby) of Vincennes, Indiana.

Her legacy flourishes through her adoring grandchildren, Gilbert Huerta Jr., Joseph Antonio Huerta, Captain Jonathan Andres Huerta, Brady Tester (Ashley) and her precious great grandson Caspian Tester.

Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, Robert Lynn Craig.

A graveside celebration of life officiated by Reverend Gilbert Huerta will be held at Shiloh Cemetery in Bridgeport IL on October 19th at 5 pm central time. Friends and family can leave remembrances on the funeral home website. Donations may be made to the American Legion in Tonja’s honor.

Martha Jo (Kieffer) Hering, 89

Martha Jo (Kieffer) Hering, 89, of Martinsville, Indiana, passed away peacefully, at home surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, August 15, 2024, the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. She was born August 11, 1935, at home in Lancaster, Illinois, the eldest child of John and Honorine (Cabbasier) Kieffer.

Martha Jo was all about showering love on family and friends. Her favorite past times were reading and putzing in the kitchen. Her home cooking comforted many bodies and souls. Martha Jo enjoyed planning and hosting family events as well as socializing with friends over a cup of coffee or meal. She was a devout Catholic with a strong devotion to Mary attested by all the rosaries she kept strewn around the house, in the car, and in her pockets. Martha Jo grew up on a farm near Lancaster Illinois, attended a one-room elementary school, graduated from Mt. Carmel High School, then spent half her adult life enjoying traveling the world with her children while her husband was active in the Air Force. After retiring from military life, they settled in Indianapolis. Martha Jo sold real estate at Century 21 Landtree for many years where she eventually achieved the Million Dollar Club status. She was active in St. Barnabas Catholic Church for many years. She was co-owner of a small business, Kieffer Contours. Even in retirement, up to her final day, she kept busy always focused on supporting family, friends and church. Martha Jo will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Martha Jo leaves behind her five children, Susan Fryman, John Kieffer, Lisa McColly, Karen (Ron) Phillips and David (Pam) Hering; nine grandchildren, Leslie, Peter, T.J., Dan, Katy, Anna, Abby, Annie, and Adam; nine great-grandchildren, Hallie, Guinness, Lucian, Joe, Jax, Julia, Clara, Miriam and Olivia; her only sister, Sheila Wilson.

Martha Jo was preceded in death by her parents.

Harold R. Moore, 88

Harold R. Moore, 88, of Plainfield, passed away on August 12, 2024. He was born on February 16, 1936 in Mount Carmel, Illinois to the late Yurchel and Mary (Deisher) Moore.

Harold served honorably in the United States Army from March 3, 1959 through February 17, 1961. He later married the love of his life, Sandy Easter on December 3, 1965.

Harold worked at Snap-On-Tools for 30 years, retiring on August 9, 2001. He and his wife co-owned a family apple orchard for 13 years. Harold enjoyed gardening, playing games, cards, traveling with his wife and church groups, watching the birds and squirrels from his back porch, but most of all spending time with his family. He was also a "recycling" expert, he never saw something as junk. He was a quiet man with the biggest heart. Harold continued to give after death by being a skin donor.

Harold was preceded in death by his siblings; Joe Moore, Larry Moore, Charles Moore, Delbert Moore and Delores Venson. Memorial services with military honors will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024 at Plainfield Christian Church (800 Dan Jones Rd. Plainfield, IN 46168) at 11:00am where friends may visit from 10:00am until time of service.

Seth Thomas Miller, 29, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Friday, August 9, 2024, at home in the presence of his loving family.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at 12:00 noon, in the chapel of Short-Cunningham Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Bellmont, Illinois.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

Seth was born October 21, 1994, in Flora, Illinois. His parents are Thomas M. and Teresa G. (Enochs) Miller of Keensburg, Illinois. Seth was a true gift to everyone who knew him. He was kind, loving, compassionate and accepting. Seth was a light in the darkness. His life had limitations as a circumstance of his infirmities, but his influence on the world around him was extraordinary. The lessons that he taught are engraved on the hearts of all those who were fortunate to see and acknowledge his worth. Our lives are poorer in the absence, but we are made richer by having him in our family and in our memories.

Seth was a member of the Assembly of God. He participated in the Special Olympics.

Seth was survived by his parents, Thomas M. and Teresa G. (Enochs) Miller of Keensburg, Illinois; siblings, Mel (Danielle) Miller and children Michael, Desirae, Brylan, Hunter and Clairabelle of Allendale, Illinois, Jared (Allison) Miller and children Violet, Benjamin and Ezra of Mt. John Michael “Mike” Beauchamp, 80

John Michael “Mike” Beauchamp, 80, of Mount Carmel, IL, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Wabash General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 30, 1944, in Princeton, Indiana, the son of John Stanley and Cora Lee (Youngman) Beauchamp. He married Gwendolyn Atwood on July 3, 1971, and they celebrated fifty-three years of loving marriage.

Mike faithfully served his country in the United States Army for two years during the Vietnam War. He worked at Snap On Tools Corporation until they closed the Mount Carmel facility. In his spare time, Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was a ham radio operator for twenty years. Mike enjoyed time spent with his family and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Mike leaves behind his beloved wife, Gwen; children, Whitney (John) Campbell of Vandalia, IL, Michelle Smith of Evansville, IN, Jackie (Jim) Turffs of Dixon, IL, Jason (Teresa) Beauchamp of Princeton, IN; grandchildren, Alexa and Caitlyn Campbell, Rachael and Lauren Turffs, Brandon and Jonathon Beauchamp; brother, Tim Beauchamp; several nieces and nephews; his adopted family, Julie Hagerty and her children, Megan, Molly, Andrew and Annie.

Wanda Jean (Tice) Guisewite/Gibbons, 84, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, peacefully passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024, at The Villas of Hollybrook in Mt. Carmel surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Short-Cunningham Funeral Home, 527 N Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois. A burial will follow the service at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Wanda was born February 17, 1940, the daughter of Ray and Mary Elizabeth (Hocking) Tice in Keensburg, Illinois. She graduated from high school in 1958. Wanda married Gene Guisewite. They enjoyed 40 years of marriage before his death on May 18, 1998. On May 14, 2005, Wanda married Tom Gibbons at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Carmel. They had nineteen wonderful years together.

Wanda was a member of Roads Church in Mt. Carmel. She was very active in church and church activities. She was known as a prayer warrior for family, friends, and church family. Wanda started and led a lady’s prayer group in her home for 39 years. Her love of cooking for her family led her to start a catering business while raising her two boys. She operated that business for fourteen years. Wanda enjoyed shopping and traveling, with Israel being her favorite. Most of all, she loved the time spent with her family. Her Skip-Bo tournaments were legendary for her family and even neighbor kids.

Left to cherish Wanda’s memory are her husband, Tom; boys, Jeff (Aimee) Guisewite and Mike (Terri) Guisewite; step children, Mike (Sue) Gibbons and Donna (Terry) Leek; grandchildren, Derek (Casandra) Guisewite, Reilly (Josh) Welborn, Amanda Guisewite (significant other Beth Hatton) and Tucker (Regan) Guisewite; greatgrandchildren, Bently, Brantley, Colt and Payton Guisewite, Aria and Isla Welborn, and Rook and Ripken Guisewite; and a sister, Maralyn Schuler.

Cynthia Small, 67

Cynthia Small, 67, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 15, 1956, in Kirkwood, Missouri, the daughter of Kenneth Edwin and Regina Marie (Drone) Schimp. She married Jeffrey Small on June 18, 1997, and they have celebrated twenty-seven years focused on their family.

Cindy moved to Mount Carmel from Eldorado, Illinois in 1978. She was a special education teacher for thirty-plus years in School District 348. Cindy took an active role with her students and cared deeply for each one. She was involved in endless activities and hobbies, but most important to her was her family, with her grandchildren being the center of her world. In her spare time, Cindy’s creativeness and talents shined through in her crafting and Stampin’ Up creations. Taking family getaways to Orange Beach was her favorite happy place. Cindy was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend whose presence on this earth will be dearly missed.

Cindy leaves behind her beloved husband, Jeff; children, Alexia Wilcox and husband Gregg, Clayton Storckman and wife Kelli; grandchildren, Zane and Cade Wilcox, with Cynthia Wrynn Wilcox to arrive soon, August, Scout and Forrest Storckman; brothers, Ken Schimp, Doug (Kelly) Schimp; sisters, Mona (Kim) Edwards, Pam Karns; many loved nieces, nephews and friends.

Sherian Ann Roberts, 83, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Friday, August 2, 2024, at Wabash General Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born on August 13, 1940, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of William Roberts and Betty (Burkhead) Reef.

Sherian worked in healthcare for many years as a CNA and LPN. She loved to cook and was known to make the best fried chicken around. Sherian enjoyed going out to lunch with friends, family and her church family. She was a member of the First Apostolic Church where she loved worshiping. Sherian was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Being with her family was most important to her and brought her the greatest joy. Sherian will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Sandra “Sandy” Gibson, 73

On August 1, 2024, at River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton, Indiana, Sandra “Sandy” Gibson went home to be with her Lord and Savior, and to be reunited with her family. She was born September 29, 1950, in St. Louis, Missouri, and in 1951 was adopted from the St. Louis Children’s Orphanage by Dwight and Helen Hughey of Mount Carmel, Illinois. Sandy felt so blessed to have been given such a Christian home with the most loving and supportive parents.

Sandy grew up in Mount Carmel, and was very involved in many school, music, church and 4H activities. She graduated from Mount Carmel High School as a proud member of the class of 1968. She later attained a bachelor’s degree in applied behavioral science and worked toward her master’s degree. After high school, Sandy was named Miss Wabash County.

In 1969, Sandy married Randy Gibson of Albion, Illinois, and later divorced but to that union a child, Jonathan Shad Gibson, was born in 1972. Shad passed away at the age of 37. Sandy greatly missed him but relied on family, friends, daughter-in-law, and her faith to see her through.

Sandy became employed by AT&T in 1972. After several promotions and numerous relocations, she retired while in Georgia with thirty years of service. In 2001 Sandy returned to Mount Carmel to care for her father after the sudden death of her mother. She continued her work experience part-time at Southeastern Illinois Family Counseling Center as a Family Resource Developer for three years. For the next four years, she worked part-time as a Consumer Service Representative at First Bank.

She loved and served the Lord throughout her life. As an adult, she had been a Sunday school teacher, choir member, choir director, pianist, organist, minister of music, various committee chairman, and a hospice volunteer. She also enjoyed creating and presenting musical plays and dramas. Sandy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mount Carmel and will be remembered for her faith. She always had time to lend an ear to anyone, provide compassion and offer words of encouragement. Throughout her life, Sandy was known to always have a smile on her face and a lilt in her voice. She was also known for her sense of humor, her friendly nature and her positive attitude. Although music was a major part of her life, she had many other interests including knitting, crocheting, reading and horseback riding. Besides her love of horses and dogs, she had enjoyed many other various pets in her life. She loved all animals.

Upon her death, Sandy was joyfully reunited with her parents, Dwight and Helen

Hughey, her son, Jonathan Shad Gibson, her grandparents, numerous aunts and uncles, and many friends.

Sandy will be remembered by her three cousins; Sturman (Linda) Hughey of Mount Carmel, with their sons Joe and Phillip (Paige) Hughey, cousin Jan (Charles) Anderson of Western Springs, IL, with their sons Kyle and Ryan (Michelle) Anderson and grandchildren, Mia, and Will, cousin Jim (Rachel) Smith of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, with their sons, Tracy (Deceased) and Troy (Doris) along with their grandchildren Gwen, and Cheryl.

Sandy also has been separated but remembered by her Texas family, daughter-in-law, Irene Mackay, with her son Izzy and daughter, Desiree, her grandchildren, Alex, Aiden, Jacob, Wesley, Breanne and Isiah, and her great grandchildren, David and Alaina Shad who was named after Sandy’s son. Sandy has also been separated from many lifelong friends from everywhere she had lived, and from Gary, the love of her life.

A gathering of friends and family to celebrate Sandy’s life will be held from 10:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 8, 2024 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.

A Memorial Service will be at 11:00, Thursday, August 8, 2024 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Pastor Steven Freels officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Virginia was born December 18, 1924 in Fairfield, Illinois, the daughter of John Kenneth and Lindell Leota (Whitson) Armstrong. She graduated from Flora Illinois High School. On June 23, 1945, she married Russell Dale Ernest in Houston, Texas. They enjoyed forty-six years of marriage.

She was a woman of deep faith and a devoted member of Parkview Christian Church, of which she was a charter member. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her “Boys” and the rest of her growing family. She loved to read and take trips with family.

Rusty Joe Harms, 47

Rusty Joe Harms, 47, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024 at his residence. He was born on April 14, 1977 in Mount Carmel, Illinois, the son of Steve Harms and Janet (Thompson) Ray.

Rusty never met a stranger and always had a great sense of humor. He loved people and was always willing to help anyone in need. He loved playing horseshoes and always looked forward to the Orio Chowder and all the activities that took place. Rusty was a true outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for others at Tower Heights. Rusty will be missed by his family and all who knew him.

Rusty will be remembered by his daughter, Victoria Rose Steele; father, Steve (Robin) Harms; mother, Janet (CD) Ray; brothers, Douglas (Jennifer) Harms, and Brian Harms; sisters, Stephanie (Joe) Stevens, and Kimberly (Mike) Waldrop; grandson, Jacob Steel, Jr.; many loved nieces, nephews and cousins. Kevin Lee Coon, 63

Kevin Lee Coon, 63, of Bellmont, Illinois, peacefully passed away at Deaconess Gateway Hospital on Thursday, July 25, 2024 with his wife and children by his side.

Kevin was born April 22, 1961, the son of Sharon (Seibert) Coon in Wabash County, Illinois. On August 17, 1983 he married Twilla Burton in Lancaster, Illinois. To this union Krystle Updike and Kris Coon were born.

Kevin graduated from Mt. Carmel High School, and Wabash Valley College with an Associate Degree in Applied Sciences and Marketing. He worked for Champion Labs Warehouse in Albion, Illinois as a Pick Cell Machine Order Filler, cleaning, running the plastic baler machine.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Twilla; daughter Krystle (Derek) Updike of Flat Rock, Illinois; and son, Kristopher (fiancé, Taunya Guthrie) of Mt. Carmel.

Kevin was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan, loved spending time outdoors and with his dogs when not enjoying time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his mother Sharon Coon; grandparents, James and Mary Seibert; infant daughter, Kristina Kay; and infant grandchild.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Hazel McClane, 67

Hazel McClane, 67, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on January 20, 1957, in Winslow, Indiana, the daughter of Arvle and Mary Wade. She was married to Hank McClane who preceded her in death in August of 2023.

Hazel was employed at Wabash General Hospital as head of housekeeping until she retired. She really enjoyed cleaning and was a member of the National Housekeepers Association. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching western movies, playing guitar and singing hymns. She also liked singing karaoke, dancing and playing pool. Some of Hazel’s favorite times were spending time with her daughters and grandchildren.

Hazel leaves behind her daughters, Stacey Wade of Vincennes, Indiana, and Valerie Schrader of Mount Carmel; grandchildren, Ashley Harms, Jaxon Schrader, Phoenix Martin; sisters, Carlon Maxey, Wanda Byrd; brother, Fred Dewayne Wade; several nieces and nephews.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Sara Beth Cano; brothers, Arvle Wade Jr., Paul Turner Wade, Henry Rodger Wade, Billy Gene Wade; sisters Judith Wade Stiles, and Carrie Harrison.

Robert Larry Vaught, 74

Robert Larry Vaught, 74, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on July 18, 2024, at Indiana University Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana, surrounded by his family.

Robert was born to the late Vern and Ruby (Jordan) Vaught on March 18, 1950, in Bossier, Louisiana. He graduated from Lawrenceville High School in 1968 and then enlisted in the US Navy. Bob served on two different ships during his time in the Navy, the USS Chemung, and the Kansas City. He traveled throughout the United States and into other countries which included Cuba, Panama Canal, Hawaii, Acapulco Mexico, Guam, Hong Kong, Thailand, and the Philippians. Bob also had four tours of duty in Vietnam on the South China Sea. In 1974, he received an honorable discharge from the Navy and married Georgia Wise on July 20, 1974. They enjoyed 50 years of marriage together.

Left to cherish Bob’s memory are his wife, Georgia; children, Kristi (Lee) Applebey and Jason (Abby) Vaught both of Mount Carmel, Illinois; four grandchildren; Kylie (Austin) Murk, Kaleb Applebey, Emily Vaught, and Hannah Vaught; a great grandchild, Kinzlie Rose Murk; a sister, Rose Seitzinger of Lawrenceville, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. Bob is proceeded in death by his parents and his sister Carol Sue Vaught.

After being discharged from the Navy, Bob went to Wabash Valley College graduating with an associate degree while working for Snap-On Tools in Mt. Carmel. Upon the closing of the plant, and working 27 years there, he left Snap-On Tools. Bob went to work for Toyota Tsusho Manufacturing, retiring in 2017. He was a member of Parkview Christian Church. Bob was a lifetime member of the VFW. He loved coaching his son in sports and continued in Jr. League Football. Bob loved attending his grandkids’ events and never missed a game. He was an avid outdoorsman: he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going on his daily rides to the river camp. Bob also loved to travel whether it was with his family or his friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Parkview Christian Church from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with pastor Mark Richison officiating. Entombment will follow at the Garden Mausoleum in Highland Memorial Cemetery with military honors by the Mt. Carmel Honor Guard.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel Animal Shelter or Parkview Christian Church. Envelopes will be available.

Robert E. Carrie, 85

Robert E. Carrie, 85, of Keensburg, IL, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Deaconess Gateway in Newburgh, Indiana with his loving family by his side. He was born on November 7, 1938 in Vincennes, IN, the son of E. Ellis and Ida Marguerite Carrie. Bob married Barbara Young on October 17, 1970 in Shawneetown, IL, and together they enjoyed fifty-three years of marriage centered on their family.

Bob will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. Bob was an extraordinary musician and during his younger years, he was in the band Dawnbeats, and they performed in Indianapolis regularly. He was very proud that as a band they recorded a single with Amp Records. Bob’s band was also made mention of in two books that shared about Indianapolis Rock-N-Roll history. Another proud moment in Bob’s music career was recording two records in Nashville. In Bob’s later years, he also enjoyed playing in a Gospel Band with his family.

Bob worked as a charter driver where he made many friendships. Above all, Bob loved his family and treasured time spent with the grandchildren. Bob and Barbara were always up for an adventure on the motorcycle, planning trips to Florida and the Smokey Mountains. He was a true outdoorsman, enjoying boating with the family and fishing. Bob was a member of Keensburg Christian Church. He will be missed by his family and all who knew him.

Bob will be remembered by his loving wife, Barbara Carrie; son, Tom Bodwell; two daughters, Bobbie (Jeff) McWilliams, and April (Darren Phillips) Wood; grandchildren, Brittaney, Aubree, Harmonie, and Joseph; great grandchildren, Brilynne, Blakeley, DeLainey, Ryleigh, Mackenzie, Lathan, and Daxton; many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Esther Mae, twins, Betty and Norma, Linda and Peggy.

Christopher Ryan Thomas Burton, 43, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024, in Daviess County, Indiana. He was born on April 4, 1981, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Susan Kay (Engledow) Williamson. He married Jill Hedinger on November 7, 2020.

Chris was employed as a truck driver for Bestway Express, transporting parts for Toyota Motor Manufacturing. In his free time, he enjoyed listening to music, and cooking. He liked being outdoors, spending time fishing and mushroom hunting. Chris was always up for an adventure with his wife, and they also enjoyed traveling. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Chris leaves behind his wife, Jill; daughter, Alyssa Boden; son, Brycen Boden; stepchildren, Mariah Anderson and Chase Forney; his mother, Susan (Tom) Williamson; one brother, Andrew Lowe; one sister, Kristen Horton; grandfather, Bill (Debbie) Engledow.

Chris was preceded in death by his sister, Jessica Burton; niece, Lyrica Burton; nephew, London Burton; grandmother, Judy Engledow.

Anthony Ray Lawrence, 71, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Monday, July 8, 2024, at Wabash General Hospital.

There will be a graveside service Friday, July 19, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Coffee Cemetery in Keensburg, Illinois.

Anthony Ray Lawrence was born June 3, 1953, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, the son of Robert Earl and Mary Katherine (Weller) Lawrence. He is survived by siblings Nancy M. Lawrence, Virginia K. Lawrence, Debra S. Lawrence, and Leann Lawrence all of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, and David E. Lawrence of Olney, Illinois. Anthony is preceded in death by his parents.

He was a member of Parkview Christian Church. Anthony worked at WAVE on the cleaning crew of the coal mine and Skeeter Mountain rest area. He enjoyed being with family and friends.

Bryar Matthew Clark, 13

Bryar Matthew Clark, 13, of Olney & Mt. Carmel, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at St. Louis Children's Hospital.

Bryar was born February 3, 2011 in Evansville, Indiana the son of Matthew Clark and Natalie (Brines) Clark.

Bryar enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping and was competitive about the possibility of catching the biggest fish. He was always the biggest cheerleader and enjoyed cheering on his friends and siblings at sporting events. Bryar loved to serve others and volunteered his time in the community. He also loved praying with others and attending youth group. He was a member of Heartland Worship Center in Mt. Carmel. Bryar was a loving brother and never met a stranger. His goal was to make everyone smile no matter the occasion. Dad Jokes were his favorite. He managed to always find the beauty in the small things that most would overlook.

Bryar is survived by his mother, Natalie Clark of Mt. Carmel, IL; father, Matthew Clark and wife, Maryellen of Olney; brothers, Deacon and Clayton Clark, Aiden and Nolan Logan, and Noah Thomason; sister, Khloe Thomason; maternal grandparents, Mark and Toni Brines of Mt. Carmel; paternal grandparents, David and Connie Clark of Mt. Carmel; maternal great grandmother, Betty Stein; paternal great grandmother, Lois Clark; uncles, Nick (Brandi) Brines and Nathan (Mindy)Brines, and Kevin Cravens, and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Kenneth and Zanada Cravens.

A visitation for friends and family will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney.

A funeral service will be held for Bryar at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 19, 2024 at Heartland Worship Center in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, with a visitation beginning one hour prior to service time at the church.

Interment will follow the service at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Carmel.

Aaron Hankins Murphy, 66

Aaron Hankins Murphy, 66, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Monday, July 15, 2024, at home. He was born on December 21, 1957, in Vincennes, Indiana, the son of Marlin Eugene and Wynema Laura (Hankins) Murphy.

Aaron attended high school in Princeton, Indiana, and after a family move, he attended and graduated from Lawrenceville High School. He was a hard worker in the oilfields for Marathon Oil Company and then Plains Oil Company. In his spare time, Aaron enjoyed building and racing drag motorcycles. He also loved restoring old motorcycles and working on cars. Aaron was a loving son, brother and uncle who will be missed by his family and friends.

Aaron leaves behind his beloved mother, Wynema; one brother, Michael Murphy and wife, Cathy; two nephews, Andy Murphy and wife, Amanda, and Eric Haines; great nephew, Silas Murphy; cousins, Marcie Kasinger and husband, Terry, Linda Walton and husband, Dave, Erica Walton, Andrea Walton, Chad Curry; former sister-in-law and friend, Tonya Murphy.

Aaron was preceded in death by his father; brother, Kevin Murphy and wife, Sue.

Patsy Ruth Sager, 66

Patsy Ruth Sager, 66, of Olney, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

Patsy was born March 4, 1958 in Olney, Illinois, the daughter of William Eugene and Helen Nadine (Salyers) Dunnigan. She married Kevin Sager on November 7, 1982 at Miller's Grove Park in Olney, and he preceded her in death on May 13, 2012.

Patsy had a tough go for a while, but she pursued with strength, humor, and faith. Her family is grateful for these traits that she carried until the end. She leaves behind many memories, but carries forward with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Though her body stays earthside, her soul shall flourish in the summer sunsets, blowing winds, and in the hearts of loved ones. She is now at rest, rejoining those that preceded her. Patsy has been a lot of places in her lifetime. She was loved and cared for by many, all of whom will miss her greatly.

Patsy is survived by her children, Billy (Jennifer) Salyers, Amelia (Michael) Quillen, Amber Sager-Grindle, Kevin (Jessica) Sager II, and April Sager; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Judy Neikirk, Debbie (Billy) Ball, Randall (Eunice) Blain, Bill Dunnigan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter, Nova Lee Vaughn and her husband, Kevin Sager.
