Mary Eloise Hughes, 89

Mary Eloise Hughes, 89, of Indianapolis and formerly of Allendale, Illinois, passed away on December 17, 2022.  She was born March 14, 1933, in St. Francisville, Illinois, daughter of the late Mitchell and Josephine Carmody Lewis.  Eloise retired from the First National Bank, Allendale & Mt. Carmel, Illinois after 43 years. She was a member of The First Methodist Church in Allendale, Order of Eastern Star in Cisne, Illinois, American Legion Auxiliary and Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #4167 in Beech Grove, Indiana.

Eloise is survived by her husband, Jackie L. Hughes, stepsons, Kenneth M. Hughes, Wayne A. Hughes, and Christopher L. Hughes. Christopher was very special to Eloise, and he will be remembered by family and friends as the person who gave his loving help and care to Eloise during her later years.  Also, survivors include a sister-in-law, Norma Lewis; two nephews, Bernard A. (Sue) Lewis and Kenneth C. (Judy) Lewis; three nieces, Patricia Bone, Theresa (Larry) Sloss and Tamara (Mark) McFarland; several great nieces and nephews; and several friends, including a long-time friend Norma Wilson, caregiver, Pamela Brown and her loving cat, Dolly.

Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Kenneth M. (Wanda) Lewis and Bernard C. Lewis, and nephew, Clyde Lewis.

A visitation for Eloise will take place on Thursday, December 22, 2022, from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Little and Sons Funeral Home, 1301 Main Street, Beech Grove, Indiana 46107. A funeral service will immediately follow at 5:00 PM also at the funeral home.

Eloise will be laid to rest at Allendale Cemetery in Allendale, Illinois, on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at 12:00 PM EST.

Catherine M. “Cathy” Mayberry, 70

Catherine M. “Cathy” Mayberry, 70, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 11, 1952, in Jacksonville, Illinois, the daughter of Harold and Margaret (Hubbert) Norris. She married William “Willie” Mayberry on February 29, 1972, and together they enjoyed forty-eight years of marriage until his passing on March 16, 2020.

Cathy was a long-time employee of Partee Machine Shop as an office manager and bookkeeper. In her spare time, she enjoyed participating in car shows with her husband Willie, where she loved visiting with their friends and telling stories. Cathy treasured her four grandchildren and spending time with them brought her great joy. She loved to travel and enjoyed many cruises over the years. The trips she could take to Pennsylvania to visit with her family were among her favorites. Cathy will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Cathy leaves behind two daughters, Amber (Joe) DiMaria of Sinking Spring, PA, Trina Joy “TJ” Mayberry of Mount Carmel; four grandchildren, Gavin and Sophia Mayberry, Luca and Nico DiMaria; her mother, Margaret; sister, Anne Brown of Kaufman, TX; brother, David Norris of Jacksonville, IL; special friend, Linda Parker; several nieces and nephews.

Cathy was preceded in death by her father and husband.

Goldie Lucille Deisher, 95

Goldie Lucille Deisher, 95, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away December 13, 2022 at Oakview Nursing and Rehab. She was born on August 25, 1927, in Gibson County, Indiana, the daughter of Edward B. and Martha E. (Horton) Mode.

Goldie devoted her life to being a homemaker. Her greatest treasure was spending time with her family. She loved attending family gatherings where she could visit with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Goldie will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Goldie will be remembered by four sons, Michael (Juanita) Yarbrough, Dale (Helen) Gillihan, Steve Gillihan, and Randy Gillihan; three daughters, Phyllis Yarbrough, Vickie (Danny) Faughn, and Patty Julian; thirty-one grandchildren, and many loved great-grandchildren and great- great- grandchildren.

Goldie was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Tommy Gillihan and Roger Gillihan; daughter, Kathy Adams; grandson, Michael VanMatre; great-granddaughter Amelia Bowling; brothers, Walter Mode, Eddie Mode; sisters, Delsie Goodson, Mary Ingle, Hazel Deisher, Martha Gillihan, and Nina Joyce; and five infant siblings.

Sherry (Stoltz) McVey, 58

Sherry (Stoltz) McVey, 58, of Bridgeport, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at Deaconess Health Hospital, in Evansville, Indiana. She was born on April 11, 1964, in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the daughter of Larry Bernard Stoltz and Virginia Kay (Paddick) Miller. She married Brad McVey on August 9, 2010, and together they have celebrated twelve years of marriage.

Sherry was the Valedictorian of the Class of 1982 at Red Hill High School. She worked at Golden Rule Insurance and more recently for the State of Illinois, Department of Corrections as a Food Supervisor. Sherry was a sports fan who enjoyed following the Chicago Cubs and Michigan Wolverines. During her son, Ben’s youth, she was his biggest fan, and very much enjoyed her position as President of the Bridgeport Little League. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she enjoyed collecting all things, Santa Claus. Sherry had a special relationship with her granddaughter, Rylee, and greatly enjoyed their time together. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Sherry leaves behind her husband, Brad; son, Benjamin “Ben” Stoltz; grandchildren, Rylee Stoltz, Serenity and Jackson McVey; mother, Kay Miller and husband, Dave; four stepchildren, Andrew (Stefanie) McVey, Caitlyn McVey, Jennifer McVey and Hannah McVey; two brothers, Alan (Karla) Stoltz, Shane (Brittany) Stoltz; four sisters, Cindy (Lee) Bridwell, Marsha (John) Vaughan, Kim (Shaun) Keepes, and Hollie (Ruben) Stuessel; many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jamie Kay Snow, 44

Jamie Kay Snow, 44, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at home. She was born on December 24, 1977, in Gibson County Indiana, the daughter of James Howder and Linda Kay (Brandebourgh) Howder. After her mother passed away, she was adopted by Marilyn (Byrns) Doan who lovingly raised her.

Jamie was a big kid at heart. She loved music, being outdoors and hiking. Halloween was her favorite holiday. Jamie would do anything for anyone who needed help. She loved spending time with her whole family, and her nieces and nephews were special to her. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Jamie leaves behind her children, Tyler Snow, and Lexi (Dalton Farrar) Snow; mother, Marilyn Doan, and husband David; three sisters, Michele Spruell, Jenna (Jason Hornby) Howder, Stacey (Billy) Krug; significant other, Scott Spruell; three bonus grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jamie was preceded in death by her father and birth mother.

Larry L. Judge, 85

85 year old Albion resident, Larry L. Judge, passedaway at his residence on Sunday, December 4, 2022.

Larry was born June 19, 1937 to Joseph and Mildred(Day) Judge in Edwards County, Illinois. Larry served in the Army in Korea from August 30, 1955 to August 29, 1958. He married Arlene W. Whitcher on August30, 1958 in Mount Holly, New Jersey. Arlene preceded him in death on July 17, 2018. Larry worked as a supervisor at Champion Laboratories for several years.

He is survived by 2 sons; Joe (Missy) Judge of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, Lawrence Lee (Cindy) Judge of Grayville, Illinois, 2 daughters; Lorinda (Peter) Ims of Hanover Minnesota, Jessica Judge of Albion, Illinois, sister-in-law; Rosemary Judge of Fairfield, Illinois, 9grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, wife and 1grandson, Kriegh Hollingsworth and 1 granddaughter, Amica K.

Graveside services for Larry L. Judge will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 9, 2022 at Graceland Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the American Legion post 590 and VFW post 8222 of Albion.

Carolyn Jean (Barnett) Bridges, 72

Carolyn Jean (Barnett) Bridges, 72, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, peacefully passed away Friday, December 2, 2022, at her home. She was born May 3,1950, the daughter of  Gene Glenn and Doris Lorene (Whitten) Barnett, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

 

She was a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church, a 1968 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School and a retiree of Whirlpool Corporation.  

 

Carolyn was a devoted mother and grandmother to her family and will be missed very much.  She enjoyed cooking for her family, attending her grandchildren’s school and sporting events and taking care of them.  Mamaw was so proud and felt extremely blessed to have such wonderful grandchildren in her life.  

 

Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Kimberly Acree and Kerry (David) Hall; grandchildren, Evan, Eric and Elliott Acree and Lauren and Kourtney Hall, all of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; a brother, Phillip Barnett and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She also leaves behind her beloved cat, Leo.  

 

Carolyn is preceded in death by her grandparents, Fred and Mabel Barnett and Milton and Eunice Whitten; her parents; sister Phylis Hedrick; son-in-law John Acree and granddaughter Emily Lorene Acree.

Terry McGuire

Terry McGuire, born October 2, 1958, passed away in Palm Springs, CA at his home on November 15th, 2022. “Moose”, as he was affectionately called, is survived by his wife,Debra McGuire and his son, Travis Anthony McGuire, his mother Wilma McGuire; brothers Brad McGuire (Patty) and Brian McGuire(Catricia) and sister Melissa (Mick) Williams. Terry is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and a number of dear friends. Terry was preceded in death by his loving grandparents Flora and Buell Abney,  and Amos and Margeret McGuire, as well as his father James (Jim) McGuire.

Originally from Mt. Carmel, Illinois, Terry met his soulmate, Debra at a party once she gained the nerve to ask him for a dance. They married November 24, 1984, and they never stopped dancing for almost 38 years. On their last date November 12, 2022, Terry was swaying to the beat at a Bee Gees tribute band concert with his beloved.

Terry was an exceptional athlete who excelled at Sports through high school, going on to play basketball at Wabash Valley College, and recreational softball for many years after.  He loved  being able to participate in the Guns and Hoses charity events and golfing with friends.  

His passion for service and people led him to workat WAVE, a vocational workshop for the mentally challenged, between 1983 and 1997. In tandem, Terry was a volunteer for the fire department for 7 years, before stepping into a full-time position with the department in 1997. He also worked part time as a certified EMT as well as a bookkeeper/owner of his family’s local craft store Ben Franklin. He was also a certified open water diver for search and rescue.  Terry retired from the department in 2021 as a captain. It was his life and his passion to bring service to the community.

Following his retirement, he and Debra moved to Palm Springs in the summer of 2022 to be closer to their son, Travis.

Surrounded by love and warmth, Debra will remain in Palm Springs for the foreseeable future.

Norma Jean Weiss, 88

Norma Jean Weiss, 88, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, peacefully passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022, at her home. 

She was born November 11, 1934, the daughter of Clarence and Ada Pearl (Clark) Grubbs, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.  

For 22 years Norma Jean enjoyed working at Snap-On Tools. She was a member of the IAM Union, serving as past president. Norma was very savvy.  

Left to cherish Norma Jean’s memory are her son, Tim Weiss (Carol) of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; grandchildren Melissa Jean (Dwayne) Dixon, Renee Weiss, Melonie Pollard, Timmy Weiss, Jr. (Sharalee), and Tyler (Brittany) Weiss; fifteen greatgrandchildren; and seven great greatgrandchildren.  

Norma Jean is preceded in death by her parents; siblings Sonny, Dickie, Claudie, and Billie Grubbs; and a great granddaughter Jimmie Sue Dill.

Michael W. VanMatre, 48

Michael W. VanMatre, 48, of Bellmont, IL, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022 at his residence.  He was born on July 2, 1974 in Olney, Illinois, the son of Paul W. and Phyllis (Yarbrough) VanMatre.  Mike was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School Class of 1992.  He married Roxanna R. Smith on October 11, 2001 in Henderson, Kentucky.

Mike was a hard worker and was employed at Diversity-Vuteq as a maintenance technician.  Prior to this, Mike spent twenty-five years at Wabash Container where he made many friendships. Mike was lovingly referred to as a “jack of all trades” with a broad knowledge in many different areas.  Mike was very handy and could fix anything.  He loved looking at something that didn’t run and making it work again.  In his free time, Mike loved spending time with his grandchildren who brought great joy to his life.  He will be missed by his family and friends.

Mike will be remembered by his wife, Roxanna VanMatre; children, Trevor Goodson, Taylor (Mark) Sharp, Kyle (Chelsea) VanMatre, and Zachary VanMatre; grandchildren, Aiden, Alanna, Axton, Keegan, and Sawyer; mother, Phyllis Yarbrough; bonus mother, Tina VanMatre; brothers, Timothy (Dawn) Banks, Thomas (Angie)Tougaw, Martin (Vanessa) VanMatre, and Brandon (Ronda) Cullison; sisters, Rachel (Gabe) Patterson, Heather Bobbitt, and Penny (Robert) McCloud; grandmother, Goldie Deisher.

Martha E. (Betty) Witters-Myers, 99

Martha E. (Betty) Witters-Myers, 99, formerly of Cahokia, IL residing in Mt. Carmel, IL and Marion, IL, peacefully passed away at her home on Sunday, November 6, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.

Betty was born on February 6, 1923, the daughter of Paul and Nana Goin of Dahlgren, IL. Betty was first married to Charles B. Witters, who preceded her in death on December 11, 1962. Betty married Charlie A. Myers on April 5, 1969.

Charles & Betty Witters had three children together; Nancy (Bob) Gryzmala of Marion, IL; C. Michael (Diane) Witters of Mt. Carmel, IL; and Barbara (Stephen) Hantman of St. Louis, MO. Betty was initially a homemaker, leading Cub Scout packs & Brownie groups, sewing clothes for her children & attending all school functions.  In 1960, the family moved from Cahokia to Mt. Prospect, IL for Charles’ work with the Department of Labor.    In 1963, after the death of Charles, the family moved back from Mt. Prospect, IL to Cahokia where, in 1964 she began her second career as a secretary for School District 187. She eventually retired from the School District, as secretary to the Superintendent, in 1985.

Betty and Charlie moved from Cahokia, IL in 1995 to Mt. Carmel, IL, where they built a home near the golf course. This was a longtime dream of Charlie’s. They spent their retirement years, Charlie playing golf, Betty buying & selling on eBay, and both attending auctions together. Betty took computer classes at Wabash Valley College when she was 70 years old so that she could stay on top of world events, dabble in photography & work on her eBay.  Some of Betty & Charlies’ happiest times were when the family all got together, especially for holidays.  Charlie preceded Betty in death on February 16, 2005.  Her daughter, Barbara, also preceded her on November 13, 2021.

Along with Betty’s surviving children, left to cherish her memory are 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.

Despite being wheelchair bound for the last 16 years of her life, Betty always remained positive, focused, and intent on enjoying her life and doing whatever she could for others. She remained bright and articulate until the end, and was still actively surfing the internet and listening to Irish music on her Dublin Ireland radio station until several days before her death. Her life was a blessing to her friends, close in family, and especially to her extended family who were always first in her thoughts.

No formal services will be conducted. A memorial service will be held on November 19, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Dahlgren, Illinois.

James Kent Prater Jr., 57

James Kent Prater Jr., 57, of Owensville, Indiana, formerly of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, November 09, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital, Evansville, Indiana, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on May 12, 1965, in Mount Carmel, the son of James Prater Sr., and Lynda (Adams) Kaiser.

James worked for Rector and Stone Drilling before he became disabled. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and camping. James was a kind man and will be missed by his family and friends.

James is survived by his father James Prater Sr.; mother, Lynda Kaiser and her husband, Larry; brothers, Bill, Gary, and Brian Prater; many loved nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Catherine L. Knight, 65, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Aperion Health Care, in Fairfield, Illinois. She was born on March 21, 1957, the daughter of Alvin L. and Martha (Cunningham) Burke.

Cathy was a homemaker. She enjoyed playing Pogo games online. Cathy had a love for cats. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Cathy’s grandchildren meant the world to her. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Scott A. Wagner, 57

Scott A. Wagner, 57, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Wabash General Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on October 26, 1965, in Mount Carmel, the son of Clarence Ray Wagner and Kay (Soden) Prosise.

Scott was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School and faithfully served his country in the United States Army. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to do anything that involved being outside. He enjoyed working in landscaping and his greatest hobby was arrowhead hunting. Scott was a jokester and a great storyteller. He was a huge Raiders fan. Scott will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Scott leaves behind one son, Brent Wagner; one daughter, Janissa Wagner; grandchildren, Lilliana, Dacey, and Ryli; mother, Kay Prosise; brothers, Mark (Trenia) Wagner, Billy Wagner, Kevin (Kelly) Wagner, Terry (Ruth) Prosise, and Tim (Tonya) Prosise; sisters, Sherry Buckman, Sheila (Mike) Welch; many loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Scott was preceded in death by his father, Ray Wagner; stepfather, Jim Prosise; sisters, Kristi Lofton, Kelly Harrelson; and one brother, Shaun Prosise.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to Scott’s special caregiver, Jessica Adams and to Wabash General Hospital for the care and compassion given to Scott and his family during his final days.

Constance “Conni” Harness, 67

Constance “Conni” Harness, 67, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Monday, November 7, 2022, at River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton, Indiana, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on February 27, 1955, in Mount Carmel, the daughter of Herman and Frances (Wiseman) Tennis.  She married James Harness on April 30, 1976, and together they enjoyed forty-six years of marriage.

 Conni was a 1973 Graduate of Mount Carmel High School and earned a Master of Business Administration degree at USI.  She worked as an HR Director in healthcare.  Conni never met a stranger.  She was full of life and energy, and you could always count on seeing her running outside.  Among many of her favorite quotes is “there is no finish line”.  Conni enjoyed sharing her love of running, biking, and hiking with her closest family members.  She had a strong faith and was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and choir.  Conni also enjoyed being a member of the Philharmonic Chorus in Evansville, Indiana.  She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved her whole family dearly, while enjoying a special kind of joy brought by her grandchildren.  She was lovingly referred to as Yaya.  Conni’s presence will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her. 

 Conni leaves behind her loving husband, Jim; one daughter, Cathryn “Caryn” Spencer and husband Jordan; one son, Bryan “Bry” Harness and wife Bailey; three grandchildren, Evan, Chloe and Olivia.

 Conni was preceded in death by her parents; two aunts, Gladys Nacht, and Nell Wiseman.

 Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2022, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 11, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Robert Zwilling officiating.  Entombment will be at Bethel Cemetery at a later date.

 Memorial contributions may be made in Conni’s memory to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Karen Jo Odom, 71

Karen Jo Odom, 71, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 1, 1950, in Mount Carmel, Illinois, the daughter of Howard and Lucy (Gawthorp) Windes.

Karen had worked in the offices of the Illinois Secretary of State as a secretary. She was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society. Karen was a St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed watching their games. She loved her family, and her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. Karen will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Karen leaves behind two daughters, Amanda Davis and husband Jeffery, Tracey Cheesman and husband Jeremy; grandchildren, Austyn Davis, Peyton Young, Rosalee Young, Tommy (Heather Miller) Cheesman, Autumn Cheesman and Ainsley Cheesman; great grandchildren, Emmalee, Dante and Greyson Cheesman; siblings, Diana Garrett, Stephen Windes and Billy Windes; several loved nieces and nephews.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Tommy, and Charles Windes.

Charles L. Windle, 78

Charles L. Windle, 78, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 21, 1944, Mount Carmel, the son of Charles Lester and Louise Marie (Sutton) Windle. He married Marie Davis on March 21, 1967, and together they enjoyed fifty-five years of marriage centered around their family.

Charles faithfully served his Country in the United States Army where he served during Vietnam. Following the service, Charles worked for the City of Mount Carmel Street Department for thirty-five years. He loved to hunt and also enjoyed going fishing when able. Charles was known as a “river rat” and was proud of it. He enjoyed taking a drive to see the deer near the Gibson County power plant. Charles was proud of his three girls and loved them dearly. He enjoyed getting to spend time with the grandchildren and taking the great-grandchildren for tractor rides. Charles attended Union Mission Church and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Charles leaves behind his loving wife, Marie; three daughters, Angie Rosignol, Teresa (Chris) Brooks, Serina Windle; grandchildren, James (Meghan), Matt (Rachel), Nickea, Cameron (Heather), Raigan, Emma (Dakota), Kelsie, Blake (Brittany); great grandchildren, Mason, Raelynn, Michael, Victoria, Aiden, Sydney, Isabella, Raiden, Lily, Odin, Aria, Felicity, Evelyn, Beyonca, Linkin and Baby Watkins; sisters, Carolyn Reno, Loretta Hall and Rona Adams; many loved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Michael Lee; son in law, Nick Brooks; one sister, Ruth Ann Windle; three brothers, Darvin, Richard, and Darrell Windle.

Vickie E. Moyers, 73

Vickie E. Moyers, 73, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at home. She was born on December 5, 1948, in Princeton, Indiana, the daughter of Edgar W. “Bill” and Wilma E. (Woods) Stephenson.

Vickie was a Mount Carmel High School Graduate with the class of 1967. At the Age of 18, she entered the U.S.A. Navy Office Department as a civilian. Vickie’s career continued at various local business offices, including, Ashland Oil, Mount Carmel Lumber Company, Snap-On Tools, Mount Carmel Sand and Gravel, and finally, Wabash General Hospital where she retired as a Patient Accounts Representative. Vickie was a huge Elvis Presley fan. She enjoyed playing bingo, watching Wheel of Fortune, going to yard sales and, she could never pass up a good auction. Vickie’s favorite thing to do was fishing with her grandsons. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Vickie leaves behind one son, Joe Moyers; daughter, Tracy Dunkel and husband Tony; stepdaughter, Heather Birkla; grandchildren, Courtney Gillihan, Aleah Dunkel, and Autumn Dunkel; great-grandchildren, Aiden and Michael Dunkel, Maverick and Remington Hutchins, and Easton Gillihan; nieces, Amber Smith, Cassie (Donnie) Lindsey; nephew, Travis (Jenni) Stephenson; cousins whom she thought of as sisters, Pam Peach, Kay Lynn Kleinschmidt, Sharon Odom, and Brenda Seesengood.

Vickie was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ed Stephenson; cousins, Peggy Sherman and Mike Crow.

Janet Ann Murphy, 83

Janet Ann Murphy, 83, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, peacefully passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at Oakview Heights with her family by her side.

She was born August 5, 1939, the daughter of Chester and Mae (Nading) Bradberry, in Wabash County, Illinois. Janet was a member of the Keensburg Christian Church.

Janet loved Jesus, church, singing and baking special birthday cakes for family and friends. Janet loved spending time with her grandchildren, and trips to Kentucky Lake. She was a hard worker and a homemaker. In her later years, she was most proud of getting her CNA degree and working at the Princeton hospital until her retirement.

Left to cherish Janet’s memory are her husband, Jim; children, Tamera (William) Watson and Pam (Randy) Fischer, all of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; grandchildren, Jeff (Heather) Berberich, Laura (Dave) Barnes, Mark (Jena) Berberich, Jordan (Heather) Fischer, Christopher (Marla) Rafferty and Ross Rafferty; siblings, Mike (Linda) Bradberry of Kentucky, Mary (Ken) Duckett of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, Terry Bohnenstiehl of Highland, Illinois, and Bobbi Wilson of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; and many beloved great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, son, Patrick Ray Martin and infant son, Robert Eric Woods.
