Phillip “Todd” Sharp, 51

Phillip “Todd” Sharp, 51, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at home. He was born on August 5, 1968 in Mount Carmel, the son of Oscar D. and Mamie (Cash) Sharp.

Todd enjoyed being outdoors, especially mowing his yard. He loved Superman and his many trips to Metropolis Illinois to visit the Superman Museum. He always looked forward to another visit there. Todd dearly loved his family and spending time visiting with family and friends. His grandbabies held a special place in his heart. He will be deeply missed.

Todd will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Taylor Sharp, Raven (Jordan) Gillihan; grandchildren, Alanna Philipps, Axton Sharp, Declan Gillihan, Damon Gillihan; sister, Robin (Rodger) Crouch; brothers, David (Angie) Sharp, Kenneth (Kim) Cash, Michael Trebuth; and several nieces and nephews.

Todd was preceded in death by his parents.

James L. “Jim” Painter, 86

James L. “Jim” Painter, 86, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2020 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana.  He was born June 13, 1934 in Lancaster, Illinois, the son of Lester and Helen (Jeffords) Painter.  He married Eleanor Shurtz on November 6, 1954 and together they enjoyed sixty-five years of marriage before her passing on December 13, 2019. 

Jim faithfully served his country in the United States Army.  He was employed for forty-one years at GTE Corporation as a cable splicer.  In his younger years, he would often be seen coaching local baseball teams.  During his spare time, Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Jim loved his family, and his Church family at Parkview Christian Church where he was a long-time member.   Jim will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Jim will be lovingly remembered by his son, James Todd Painter and wife Penny of Nashville, TN; daughter, Rebecca Lynne Sparks and husband Tony of Sesser, IL; four grandchildren, Patricia Leigh Phillips, James Kyle Painter, Daphne Marie Haggard and Amanda Nicole Haggard; great-grandchildren, Madison Grace Phillips, Katelynn Hope Phillips, Bailey Rose Lewis, Addison Brooke Suter, Emma Grace Suter, James Jonathon Phillips, Nixon Kikue Painter and Elliott Saburd Painter; and many loved nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers, Gary and Bob Painter.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 10, 2020 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.  Social distancing practices will be in place.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 10, 2020 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Minister Bryan Heinrich officiating.   A private family burial with full military honors will take place Saturday, July 11, 2020 at Maple Hill Cemetery in Sesser, Illinois where Jim will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Eleanor.

Dennis Keith Shields, 64

Dennis Keith Shields, 64, of Bone Gap, Illinois, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2020 at Wabash General Hospital.  He was born on August 1, 1955 in Highland, Michigan, the son of Jack and Barbara (Eck) Shields.  He married Sherry Robinson Cox on October 8, 2006 and she survives. 

Dennis faithfully served his country in the United States Army.  He attended Hyles Anderson College to become a Minister. Dennis enjoyed traveling and camping.  His family held a special place in his heart and he enjoyed spending time with them.  He was a member of Hope Fellowship Church.  Dennis will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Dennis will be remembered by his loving wife of thirteen years, Sherry; sons, Robert Lee Robinson, Jeffery Eugene Cox; daughters, Doreen Kay Powell, Candice Dawn Shields, Angelique Nicole Knowles; five grandchildren; brothers, Mike Shields, Dale Shields; several nieces and nephews; former wife, Sheila Shields who raised his four children; and Robert Lee Robinson who was like a son to Dennis.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; son, James K. Shields; and brother, jack Shields.

Donald L. McClane, 86

Donald L. McClane, 86, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at home with his family by his side. He was born on May 9, 1934 in Mount Carmel, the son of Charles and Sybil (Hill) McClane. He married Joyce Carpenter on November 22, 1952 and she survives. Don worked many years in the oilfield industry.

He worked for H&H Oil Company and for Andy Hocking, tending to his wells. He was a hard worker and loved his oilfield jobs. Don also was employed by Snap On Tool Corporation for nineteen years. Don and Joyce worked side by side for a number of years when they owned a feed and farm supply store. Don loved his family.

He was a member of Saint Mary Catholic Church. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Don will be remembered by his loving wife of sixty-seven years, Joyce; son, Mark McClane; daughter, Ladonna Blevins and her husband, Don; Several loved grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sisters, Caroline Brown, Anna Bell Lovellette and Marie; brothers, Ed and John McClane.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Chris McClane; one sister, Wilma; brothers, Michael, Ray and Tom McClane.

In keeping with Don’s wishes, cremation will take place and no formal services are planned.

Barbara L. Lambert, 82

Barbara L. Lambert, 82, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at her residence surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on August 25, 1937 in Mishawaka, Indiana, the daughter of Theodore “Ted” and Virgina (Miller) Morgan. Barbara married Leo Lambert on November 29, 1958 and together they enjoyed sixty-one year of marriage.

Barbara was very proud of her family and treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren. She graduated from William Woods College with an Associate’s Degree in Arts. Barbara was a member of Beta Sigma Phi an organization that brought many friendships and fellowship to her life. Her passion was being a homemaker for her family and she also enjoyed working at Wabash Valley College Bookstore for close to twenty years. Barbara will be missed by her family and all who knew her.

Barbara will be remembered by her husband, Leo Lambert of Mount Carmel; son, Michael Lambert and Stephanie of Robinson, Illinois; daughters, Sandra Uphoff and husband, Chuck of Mount Carmel, Melissa Gibson and husband, Brian of O’Fallon, Illinois; five grandchildren, Alisha (Dakota) White, Davis Uphoff, Kirsten Gibson, Joshua Gibson and Brandon Lambert.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Wayne Morgan.

A Private Graveside Service will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 2, 2020, at Highland Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Gary Underwood officiating.

Neale W. Shaw, 81

Neale W. Shaw, 81, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois passed away June 28, 2020 of heart failure at Deaconess Midtown, Evansville, Indiana.

He was born in Albion, Illinois October 2, 1938, the son of Kenneth and Bernice (Ellis) Shaw.  Neale graduated from Mt. Carmel High School.  In 1960, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree of Management from Southern Illinois University.  During his junior year of college, he met Gloria Hill and they were married September 10, 1960.  They soon moved back to Mt. Carmel and Neale began his professional career at Mt. Carmel Sand and Gravel (now, Mt. Carmel Soil Stabilization Group), the company his father helped found in 1918.  Neale was employed with Mt. Carmel Sand and Gravel for thirty-two years, retiring at age 54 in 1992.  Gloria preceded him in death in 2004 after 44 years of marriage.  On September 30, 2006, Neale married Sharon Stetter.  They enjoyed fourteen years of adventures and happiness.

After his professional work career, he took on retirement professionally.  He was always planning his next adventure, shopping for the newest gadget and most importantly finding the best ways to spoil the people he loved.  He looked forward to playing bridge with friends, discovering new restaurants, and traveling.  Most of all Neale loved the mountains and snow skiing which featured heavily in his happy memories. 

Neale was active in the community, a member of the Newcomers club, Gourmet club, Bridge Club, Jaycees, and the Lions Club.  He was extremely active in getting the Lake Froman Park project completed.

Neale (Poppy) was devoted to his family and had a particular passion for spoiling and indulging them.  He had many go-to-phases, but the one he used most often was “How can I help, how can I make things better for you?”

Left to cherish Neale’s memory is his wife of fourteen years, Sharon Shaw of Mt. Carmel; children Gregg (Tammy) Shaw of Evansville and Gretta (David) Shaw Hall of Johns Creek, Georgia; children through marriage Hugh (Sandy) Stetter and Ian (Dawn) Stetter; grandchildren Kelsey (Alex) Dus, Tyler Shaw, Mary Elizabeth Hall, Jackson Cooper Hall, Grace Stetter, Emmy Stetter, Sebastian Stetter and Savannah Stetter; siblings Gary (Wanda) Shaw, James Patrick “Rick” (Mary) Shaw and Bill (Cynthia) Shaw. 

Neale was preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria Hill Shaw; daughter, Nickie Lynn Shaw; and his parents, Kenneth W. and Ruby Bernice Shaw.

Visitation for Neale will be Wednesday, July 1, 2020 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois. 

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 2, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Sarah Ellen Hadra, 65

Sarah Ellen Hadra, 65, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois peacefully passed away Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital, Olney, Illinois surrounded by her loving family.

She was born March 25, 1955 in Wabash County, Illinois, the daughter of Gilbert L. and Bessie Ellen (Bailey) Dunkel. Sarah was a 1973 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School.

On June 22, 1973 she married Daniel Hadra at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mt. Carmel.

Sarah was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She drove a school bus for 31 years for District #348, worked 30 years mowing grass at St. Mary’s Cemetery and cleaned houses.

Sarah enjoyed gardening, especially working in her flowers, bird watching, decorating her home for each season and cooking for family. Her greatest love was spending time with her family.

Those left to cherish Sarah’s memory are her husband of 47 years, Daniel; children Julie (Thad) Raibley, Beau (Jana) Hadra and Jeanie Hadra, all of Mt. Carmel; grandchildren Jonathon Bader, Karis Hadra, Bode Hadra, Asa Martin, Ella Martin and Clare Raibley; and siblings Mary Dunkel (Bob) Cunningham and Ann Dunkel (David) Jones of Mt. Carmel.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents.

A Rosary Service will be held with a Funeral Mass afterwards (open to the public) on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 125 W. 5th Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois with burial following at Harrison Cemetery in Lancaster, Illinois.

Freda C. Raibley, 98

Freda C. Raibley, 98, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Wabash General Hospital.

She was born in Wabash County, IL, March 29, 1922, the daughter of Elmo Ray and Vernice E. (Shepard) Hawf. She married her husband, James Russell Raibley, July 16, 1940 in Henderson KY. He preceded her in death in 2004.

Freda was a lifelong resident of Wabash County. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was very active in the church community.

Those left to share her memory include her son, Timothy A. and his wife, Janice, of Mt. Carmel; grandchildren, Thad Alan and wife Julie Raibley, Andrea Jill and husband Jonathan Decker; great grandchildren, Brady Decker and Clare Raibley; siblings, Gene Hawf, and Sally Hawf of Mt. Carmel, and Ron Hawf of Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim of sixty-three years; siblings, Albert, Paul, and Pete Hawf.

Juanita B. Parr, 88

Juanita B. Parr, 88, formerly of Mt. Carmel, Illinois peacefully passed away Thursday, June 25, 2020 at her residence in Evansville, Indiana surrounded by family.

She was born June 16, 1932 in Bellmont, Illinois, the daughter of Harvey and Zelda (Smith) Deisher.  On July 20, 1952, Juanita married William A. Parr in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. 

Juanita was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Mt. Carmel.  She attended the Christian Fellowship Church in Evansville, Indiana.  Juanita enjoyed cooking, having parties, reading the Bible and listening to country music.  In her earlier years she liked to skate.  Her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.   

Left to cherish Juanita’s memory are her children Timothy Parr of Evansville, Indiana, James and his wife Laurie Parr of Petaluma, California, Daniel and his wife Lori of Nashville, Tennessee and Debra Parr of Evansville, Indiana; grandchildren Amanda (Paul) Hollingsworth, Brittany Parr, Sydney Parr, Sierra Parr and Evan Parr; great grandchildren Maraya Stuteville and Juanita Hollingsworth; and sister Susie Pittman of Menomonie, Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; children Mark Parr and Mary Lynn Parr; brothers Bill and Bob Deisher; and sister Gloria Lee Dixon.

John P. Cowles, 82

John P. Cowles, 82, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away on June 18, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 24, 1937 at home in Grayville, Illinois, the son of John Riley and Luretta (Keeling) Cowles. John married Nellie Huff on December 11, 1962 and she survives.

John worked in the oil fields of southern Illinois for many years.  He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.  He will be missed by his family and all who knew him.

John is remembered by his wife, Nellie Cowles; son, John R. Cowles; daughter, Amanda Waggoner; grandchildren, Taylor Waggoner and Riley Waggoner; son-in-law, Jim Waggoner; and son-in-law, Ric Underhile.

Mary Ann Mobley, 86

Mary Ann Mobley, age 86, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2020 in the arms of her devoted husband of 65 years, Dwight Mobley, at the Villas of Holly Brook in Mt. Carmel, IL.  

Mary Ann was born May 16, 1934 to James and Louise McGuire of Ridgway, IL.   She graduated from the Ridgway High School class of 1952 and attended Southern Illinois University.  In 1955, she left college to marry her high school sweetheart Dwight who had just returned from the war in Korea.  The two of them started their family in Champaign-Urbana as Dwight completed graduate school at the University of Illinois.  The family moved to the Mt. Carmel area in 1966, living on a small farm near Lancaster.  Mary Ann raised four children, Diana Catt (Barry) of Monrovia, IN, Elaine Brown (Allen) of Mt. Carmel, Jim Mobley (Linda) of Brighton, MI, and Jerry Mobley (Cynthia) of Mt. Carmel, 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren (and counting).  She was also foster mother to assorted orphaned piglets, calves, and puppies, and was the sworn enemy of Dwight’s ill-tempered pet duck. 

Mary Ann was a devout member of St. Mary’s Catholic church in Mt. Carmel where she often played the organ.  She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella. When her children were all old enough to enroll at St. Mary’s school, she joined the workforce as a secretary at Snap-On Tools, and retired from there after more than 20 years of service.  Along with her friend Thelma Steckler, Mary Ann served as the leader of the Country Cousins 4-H club for many years, teaching dozens of young women how to knit, crochet, and sew.  She also shared her talents at Wabash Valley College as a part-time instructor.  Mary Ann was an avid gardener.  She was proud of her canned green beans, her dried apples, and her gooseberries which she handed out by the gallon to anyone who would take them, and from which she made countless pies that she donated to fund raisers and bake sales.  After retiring, Mary Ann and Dwight enjoyed taking long trips in their motor home, usually accompanied by a pair of age-matched grandchildren.  These trips forged lasting, loving relationships and life-long memories.

Left to cherish Mary Ann’s memory is her husband of 65 years, Dwight; children Diana (Barry) Catt, Elaine (Allen) Brown, James (Linda) Mobley, and Jerry (Cynthia) Mobley; twelve grandchildren Mike and Maria Catt, Kristy and Tyler Murphy, Wade Catt, Matt and Anne McClane, Carrie McClane, Zach and Melissa Mobley, Erin Mobley and fiancé Wryan Webb, Meagan and Jared Steckler, Amber Mobley, Clif Mobley, Kaitlyn and Al Smith, T.J. Mobley; twelve great-grandchildren; and a brother Pat (Sharon) McGuire.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and three infant daughters, Agnes Ann, Mary Christina and Theresa Ann.

There will be a visitation Saturday, June 20, 2020, from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 125 West Fifth Street, Mt. Carmel, IL with a Funeral Mass beginning at 3:00 p.m.  Burial will follow immediately after at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Mt. Carmel, IL.

James I. White, 94, formerly of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Friday, June 12, 2020 at Decatur Township Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. Jim was born January 18, 1926 in Harrisburg, Illinois, the son of James I. and Gertrude White. He married Colene Legai on November 7, 1946 in Ledford, Illinois. They enjoyed 73 years together. Jim faithfully served his country in the U. S. Army for three years. He fought in World War II at the Battle of the Bulge where he was awarded two medals: the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Jim was a member of First Baptist Church in Mt. Carmel. He was co-owner with his wife of Your Flower Shop. He worked with the Boy Scouts in Mt. Carmel and was a former member of Mt. Carmel Lions Club. Those left to share his memory are his wife, Colene; two children, Aleta and her husband, Jim Griffin of Indianapolis, IN and James and his wife, Debbie White of Mt. Carmel; grandchildren Shawn and Scott Griffin; brother, William White of Harrisburg, IL; sister, Maleta Fox of St. Louis, MO; and several nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brother Kenneth White. Nancy J. Trusty, 63

Nancy J. Trusty, 63, of Albion, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 11, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born on October 5, 1956 in Sutton, West Virginia, the daughter of Jessie (Hoover) Brock. Nancy married Robert “Bob” Trusty on February 3, 1975 and together they enjoyed forty-five years of marriage.

Nancy loved her family above all things. She also enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing and camping with family. Nancy was a very hard worker as a CNA at Oakview Heights Continuous Care and Rehab. She will be missed by her family and all who knew her.

Nancy will be remembered by her husband, Bob Trusty; son, Eric VanMatre; sister, Rosa (Jerry) Ater of Sutton, West Virginia; granddaughters, Riley Trusty and Ashton Trusty.

Ila “Dean” Strothers, 93

Ila “Dean” Strothers, 93, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Oakview Heights Continuous Care and Rehab in Mt. Carmel.

Dean was born October 3, 1926 in Clay County, Tennessee, the daughter of Erby and Margaret (Rayborn) Franklin. She married Ernest “Bo” Strothers in Mt. Carmel on January 11, 1946. They were married forty-two years before his passing on September 23, 1988.

She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene for eighty-three years. After their closing she attended the Community Church of God in Mt. Carmel. In addition to raising six children Dean also worked twenty-six years at Mt. Carmel Apparel and was the custodian at First Baptist Church.

Dean loved to travel and explore the United States. She especially enjoyed “Sisters Day” which was every Monday. She will be remembered as a funny, stubborn and spunky lady. She had a soft spot for kids, she always welcomed them calling her Grandma! Dean always wanted to make people smile!

Carmel, Kris and her husband Ken Biggs of New Albany, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Sarah (Aaron) Berberich, Cindy Bottles, Eric (Amanda) Strothers, Amy Hollen, Kristen (Daniel) Lanoue, Kelsey Biggs and Mandi (Chris) Robb; fourteen great grandchildren, Taylor and Loren, Stella and Henry, Becky (Hunter), Keri, and Bo, Cheyenne, Aspen, Rylee, and Killian, Emily, Peyton and Brandon; one great great grandchild, Willow; sisters Wilma Williams and Judy (Harold) Williams; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dean was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Loretta Sue Case; sons, John Ernest Strothers, Richard Lee Strothers; brother, Gilbert Allen Franklin; sister Barbara Deisher; and son-in-law Randy Bosecker.

There will be a Graveside Service on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Carmel. The service will be open to family and friends.

As with her planning, Dean and the family request donations in her memory be made to Community Church of God General Fund. Donations can be made online or at the graveside service.

Harold L. Adams, 84

Harold L. Adams, 84, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois passed away peacefully Thursday, June 4, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Harold was born February 26, 1936 in Mt. Carmel, the son of Virgil and Cleates (Dill) Adams. He was a member of First Baptist Church and lifetime member of the Moose.

Those left to share his memory include his daughters, Jan L. Adams of Mt. Carmel and Angelina (Joe) Pechota of Adrian, Michigan; grandchildren, Mark T. Adams and Claire Pechota; sisters Ruth H. Henson and Rose Lovellette.

Harold enjoyed spending time with family and friends and traveling to Mexico. He retired from Mt. Carmel Street Department as Superintendent after 30 years of service. He worked in the oil fields, owned and operated a grocery store. He enjoyed trail rides and was a licensed farrier.

Preceded in death by his parents, brother Fred Adams and sister Clara Seibert.

There will be a drive-through visitation at Short Funeral Home (enter off of Sixth Street) on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service and Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.

The family requests memorials can be made to Wabash County Senior Citizens or Wabash General Hospital Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the cemetery.

Steven A. Peach, 66

Steven A. Peach, 66, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 5, 2020 at Oakview Heights Continuous Care and Rehab.  He was born on September 21, 1953 in Knox County, Indiana, the son of Norman and Virginia (Schwartz) Peach.

Steven worked at Snap On Tools for eighteen years and also worked as a park supervisor at WAVE for several years.  Steven was loved by many and will deeply missed at Oakview Heights Continuous Care and Rehab.  He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and also enjoyed going to the Casino.  Steven had a love for animals and loved cats.

Steven will be remembered by his brother, Terry Peach and wife, Connie of Mount Carmel; nephew, Scott (Lesley) Peach; niece, Christina (Andy) Page; great nephews, Jacob Page, Colton Page and Evan Peach; great niece, Ella Peach; uncle and aunt, Tim (Shirley) Glasenepp; aunt, Corinne Schwartz; many loved cousins;  and close friends and caretakers at Oakview Heights Continuous Care and Rehab that Steven thought of as family.  Steven will be missed by his family and friends

Steven was preceded in death by his parents.

In keeping with Steven’s wishes, he will be cremated and a private family Graveside Service will be held at Highland Memorial Cemetery on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 with Pastor Gary Underwood officiating.

Albert Franklin Banks, 94

Albert Franklin Banks, 94, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at Wabash General Hospital.

He was born October 3, 1925, the son of Ross and Tressie (Baxley) Banks, in Wabash County, Illinois.

Albert was a member of First General Baptist Church.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.  Albert worked in the oilfields for 46 years.  He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed working puzzles and loved reading.  Albert loved to torment kids, usually ending with the kids getting in trouble while he pretended to be innocent!

Left to cherish Albert’s memory is his daughter Regina Lear of Greenville, Kentucky; grandchildren David (Melissa) Lear and Aaron Banks; several great grandchildren; and special friend for 17 years, Wilma Banks and her children Debbie Schwartz, Jeanette McCoy, Randall Banks, Dennis Banks and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Albert was preceded in death by his parents; son Larry Banks; first wife Ruth; siblings Chlorine Crackel, Sally Wagner, Joanne Ennibaugh, Edith Banks, Victor Schoeindt, Brownie Schoeindt, Mary Fisher, Bonnell Schoeindt, Sam Banks, Richard Banks and Jackie Luke.

A private family funeral service will be held Saturday, June 6, 2020, with burial at Highland Memorial cemetery at 12:15 p.m.

John Robert “Bob” Woods, 82

John Robert “Bob” Woods, 82, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at his residence. He was born on February 24, 1938 in Mount Carmel, the son of H. E. and Pearl (Brown) Woods.

Bob will be remembered by his wife, Leta Kay (Bell) Woods of Mount Carmel; daughters, Joanna Woods of Princeton, IN, Roberta Eaton and Marla (Arva) Mauck of Mount Carmel; eight granddaughters; one grandson; two great granddaughters; and sister, Norma McClellan of Houston, TX.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lois Wilkerson; and brother, Lt. Harry Richard Woods.

Cory L. Hoffman, 47

Cory L. Hoffman, 47, of Mount Carmel, Illinois passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020 at his residence. He was born on April 17, 1973 in Mount Carmel, the son of Greg and Patty (Parson) Hoffman. Cory was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School Class of 1991. Cory loved cookouts with family and also enjoyed his time he could be on the water fishing. He was a huge North Carolina Tarheels fan. Cory loved the time he spent at the gym working out with his brother and also staying active riding his bike. Cory worked at Toyota where he made many friendships. He attended Heartland Worship Center in Mount Carmel. Cory will be forever missed by his family and friends. Cory will be remembered by his son, Gage Hoffman of Bellmont; parents, Greg and Patty Hoffman of Bellmont; brother, Kyle Hoffman and wife Jamie of Mount Carmel; paternal grandmother, Marlene Hoffman; two nieces, Brianna and Brittany Hoffman; many loved aunts, uncles and cousins. Cory was preceded in death by his, maternal grandparents, John and Norma Parson; and paternal grandfather, Orville “Bud” Hoffman. D. Ray Goodson, 76

D. Ray Goodson, 76, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, May 21, 2020 at his residence in Mt. Carmel, IL.

He was born February 28, 1944 in Mt. Carmel, the son of Alvin A. and Martha Marie (Wood) Goodson.

Ray was a member of Heartland Worship Center. He graduated from Mt. Carmel High School and had an Associate Degree. He honorably served in the U.S. Army in Germany. He was a member of the VFW Honor Guard.

He retired from CountryMark Energy Resources where he worked as an Instrument Recorder. He performed backhoe work; enjoyed carpentry work including woodworking. In his spare time Ray enjoyed raising, breeding and showing miniature horses. He loved his life and loved being with people.

Those left to share his memory are his daughter, Stefanie Raye Gladney and her husband Kenneth of St. Ann, MO; stepsons, Jeff Todd of California and David Todd of Indianapolis; sister Deborah Zaboli; four step grandchildren; nieces Michelle (Rich) Dusky and Andrea Lester.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, and two infant siblings.

A Private Graveside Service will take place at Highland Memorial Cemetery. Memorial Service will be held at Heartland Worship Center at a later date.
