Funeral Services for Natalie P. Medina were held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Parkview Christian Church with Brad Hadra officiating.  Scripture readings were taken from Job 19:25-27, Isaiah 41:10, John 14:7 and Philippians 4:7.  The obituary was read and memories were shared by Brad.  Special recorded musical selections included “Heaven” by Beyoncé, “So Soon” by Maher Zain, and “There Goes My Life” by Kenny Chesney.  Keepes Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Natalie P. John S. “Sammy” Carwile, Sr., 79

John S. “Sammy” Carwile, Sr., 79, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2019 at his residence. He was born on August 4, 1940 in Evansville, Indiana, the son of John and Mildred (Beard) Carwile. He was married to Janis Faye Carrol who preceded him in death.

John worked in the carpentry business for many years operating the business known as Cummings and Carwile. He had a love for animals of all kind. Over the years he even raised many different exotic animals. He greatly enjoyed being outdoors. John was fond of western movies, in particular, those which starred John Wayne. He loved his family and his grandbabies held a very special place in his heart. John will be missed by all who knew him.

John will be remembered by his four sons, Dwayne (Mary Beth) Carwile of Allendale, IL, Kent Carwile of Evansville, IN, Johnnie (Sonya) Carwile of Ashland, IL, Allen (Chris) Carwile of Allendale, IL; daughter, Cheryl (Chuck) Tewell of Louisville, KY; twenty grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, David (Kathy) Carwile, Robert (Rosilee) Carwile; four sisters, Debbie (Bob) Hall, Annie (Rodger) Miller, Lucille (Bob) Rusche, Peggy (Sonny) McCullough; and many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Sondra Burton; brothers, Thomas Carwile, Jim Cummings; and sister, Dolly Carwile.

Jessie M. Crow, 85

Jessie M. Crow, 85, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on February 13, 1934 in Mount Carmel, Illinois, the daughter of Kell and Leona (Straw) Woods.

Jessie was a member of the Mount Carmel High School Class of 1951. She worked many years in a variety of local establishments, including The Daily Republican Register, Hadley’s Café, The Elks Club, Hacklers Vogue, and Index Notions. Wherever she was working, Jessie always had a cheerful heart and a helping hand. For several years, Jessie owned and operated “Jessie Lee’s Fashions”, offering quality apparel and accessories. In her spare time, Jessie enjoyed making ceramic pieces and other crafts. She loved to have fun and was proud of the time she won the Little Lotto. Jessie had a love for animals of all kinds. Getting together with her family was her most favorite thing to do. She was a very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Jessie was a positive influence in all of their lives. She was a member of Parkview Christian Church. Jessie was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Jessie will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Pam (Dan) Peach, Brenda (Dennis) Seessengood, and Sharon Odom; grandchildren, Kelly (Tim) Bogard, Kim (Mark) Tegeler, Jennifer (Curtis) Carlson, Mike Crow, Brandi (Kevin) Moore, Jason (Erika) Seessengood, Michelle (Ryan) Troyer, Amy (Jay) Pettyjohn, Clint Bolden, Brent Bolden; thirty great-grandchildren; special friend and cousin, Georgeanne Kern; nieces and nephews whom Jessie loved.

Jessie was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Crow; granddaughter, Kerri Lee Peach; brother, Ed Woods; and sister, Wilma Stephenson.

Sondra Faye Burton, 55

Sondra Faye Burton, 55, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2019 at her father’s home.  She was born on September 23, 1963 in Phoenix, Arizona, the daughter of John Samuel and Janis (Carrol) Carwile, Sr.  She married Thomas Burton on May 30, 2012 and he survives.

 Sondra was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed life and was very kind hearted.  She worked as a Teacher’s Aide at Mount Carmel High School for ten-plus years and also as a Nurse’s Aide and Care Giver.  She greatly enjoyed caring for her elderly parents.  In her spare time, Sondra loved to crochet.  Her family meant the world to her, especially her three grandchildren.  Sondra was a member of Heartland Worship Center.  She will be dearly missed.

 Sondra will be lovingly remembered by her husband of seven years, Tom Burton; daughter, Brandi Marie (Dustin) Deisher; sons, Joe Burton of Philadelphia, PA, Joshua Burton of Carbondale, IL;  three grandchildren, Leland Scott Deisher, Brantley Cash Jacoby Deisher, Easton Harley Deisher; brothers, Dwayne (Mary Beth) Carwile of Allendale, IL, Kent Carwile of Evansville, IN, Johnnie (Sonya) Carwile of Ashland, IL, Allen (Chris) Carwile of Allendale; sister Cheryl (Chuck) Tewell of Louisville, KY; several nieces & nephews and cousins.

Natalie P. Medina, 21

Natalie P. Medina, 21, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on August 20, 1998 in Centralia Illinois, the daughter of Josh and Mistie (Goss) Medina.

Natalie was a 2017 graduate of Mount Carmel High School. She was a great athlete and important member of both the Softball and Volleyball teams. She went on to Wabash Valley College where she again played Volleyball and graduated with an Associates Degree in Science & Arts. She was accepted to Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville and Lakeland College. Natalie worked at Taco Tierra for five years and dearly loved her Taco family. Her greatest achievement was being a friend to many. Natalie touched so many lives both near and far. She had a knack for making everyone feel special and to Natalie, it didn’t matter if someone was a Freshman or a Senior, she loved her friends equally. Spending time with her friends was her favorite thing to do. It has been said that Natalie was “larger than life” and could often be counted on to be the life of the party. She was affectionately given the nickname “Deaner”. Natalie loved music and food. Natalie and her younger brother, Trevin, shared a very special bond. She admired him and looked out for him and he would do the same for her. She was one of his biggest supporters. She will be dearly missed.

Cecilia G. Bellessa, 81

Cecilia G. Bellessa, 81, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at Acorn Estates surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 30, 1938 in Gibson County, Indiana, the daughter of Raymond Sr. and Mary (Peter) Kieffer. She married Dale Bellessa on July 4, 1957 and he preceded her in death on August 15, 2010 after fifty-three years of marriage.

As an infant Cecilia was given the nickname of “Pete” by her two-year-old brother, Ron, who would say his new baby sister was “sweet”, but, it sounded like “Pete”. Throughout her life, the name stayed with her so she was lovingly known as “Pete” to her family and friends. Cecilia was a loving, caring and giving woman. She was a wonderful homemaker and her family and extended family was very important to her. For many years she chaired the funeral dinner ministry at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church. Cecilia enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Ladies Society. For forty years, she worked as an Election Judge in Precinct #5. She was a friendly, familiar face at the area auctions conducted by Mobley and Grant whom she worked for as a clerk for thirty-plus years. Cecilia had a love for music and treasured her Monday nights at Hogg Heaven Restaurant listening to the music and visiting with friends. Cecilia was a member of Saint Mary’s Catholic church. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Cecilia will forever be remembered by her sons, Domonick (Kim) Bellessa of Newburgh, IN, David (Sheila) Bellessa of Elizabethton, TN, Danny Bellessa of Decatur, IL, and Darin Bellessa of Vincennes, IN; grandchildren, Katie Bellessa, Taylor Bellessa, Morgan (Jason) Lyons, Hannah & Halle Bellessa, Drake & Brady Bellessa; sisters, Dorothy Walters, Virginia Goldman; brothers, Joe Ray (Mary Lou) Kieffer, Ron (Jo Ella) Kieffer, Jerome (Mary Jean) Kieffer, David Kieffer, Michael (Nancy) Kieffer; many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ben Allen Adams

Ben Allen Adams passed away August 29, 2019, at birth, in Evansville, Indiana, at St. Vincent Medical Center.

Ben’s parents are Thomas Leroy Mayer and Erin Elizabeth (Harms) Adams of Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

He is survived by his parents; maternal family, Cassie Lingo, Jennifer Harms, Kathy and Ron Pulliam; paternal family, Thomas Mayer; uncle, Randy Riggs; aunts, Samantha Harms, Nicole Adams, Brandy Mayer and Eliza Dill; and several cousins.

Ben was preceded in death by his maternal family, Allen Harms, Pete and Earlene Harms, and, paternal family, Veda Mayer, and, Leonard and Sylvia Watson.

Miles Alexander Paris, 12

Miles Alexander Paris, 12, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on February 6, 2007 in Evansville, Indiana, the son of Levi McDaniel and Marva Paris.

Miles was a 7th grade student at Mount Carmel Junior High School. He never knew a stranger and if you knew Miles, you knew he loved to talk. He will always be remembered for his big heart. In his free time, Miles loved playing video games and hanging out with his big brother, Slater. He also enjoyed listening to music. He loved playing basketball and was on the basketball team for the Mount Carmel Middle School. Anytime Miles would leave he would always say, “I love you”. He attended Thursday Church in Vincennes, Indiana.

Miles will be remembered by his mother, Marva Paris; father, Levi McDaniel; brothers, Slater Charest, Gunner Brewster and Keaton McDaniel; sisters, Kinsley, Abby and Addison McDaniel; maternal grandmother, Susan Price; maternal grandfather, Terry Paris; paternal grandmother, Karen Alvis; aunts, Paige Whitman, Amber Preston and Livia Houser; special cousin’s, Jayde Whitman and Grant Wampler; many loved aunts, uncles and cousins; many special friends and classmates.

L. E. “ANDY” ANDERSON, 88

Andy Anderson, 88, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, peacefully passed away Sunday, August 25, 2019, at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana.

He was born August 24, 1931, in Hugoton, Kansas, the son of Webb and Lucille (Flummerfelt) Anderson. The family moved to Mt. Carmel, Illinois, in 1937. Andy graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950-1953. On June 24, 1953, Andy married Mary Ann Baumgart in Mt. Carmel at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The couple had four children; Ray, Randy, Rick and Roseann Anderson.

Andy was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He farmed and raised chickens and goats his entire life. Andy traveled to show chickens nationally for years and helped develop and improve upon several different varieties. He founded the Wabash County 4-H Youth Program in 1970, which grew into the County 4-H Fairground Complex. Andy was president of the Wabash County 4-H Youth Program at its inception in 1970 and remained in that position for over 40 years.

He was a founder of the Wabash County ARC in 1975 and served as their president. From 1953-1995, Andy was president of Anderson Brothers Oil, Phillips 66 that he owned and operated with his brother Don for many years. He served as director of the Southern Illinois Pigeon Club, Security Bank and Trust and Illinois Jaycees; president of the Red Hill Bantam Club, Wabash County University of Illinois Extension Board and St. Mary’s School Board.

Over the years Andy has been a driving force within various community and philanthropic organizations too numerous to list. He loved making jeweled crosses and touched many households adorned with them all over the world. He was featured in the prestigious publication of “Who’s Who of the Midwest.” But, if you asked Andy what he did in his life…he would simply say… “I’m a farmer.”

Left to cherish Andy’s memory are his children Ray Anderson, Randy Anderson and wife Brenda, Rick Anderson and wife Sheila and Roseann Anderson; thirteen grandchildren, Nikki, Jenifer, Clint, Ryan, Christopher, Kyle, Emma, Chasity, Krissy, Abbey, Jenna, Petyon and Taylor; nineteen great-grandchildren; siblings Dean and Erma Flummerfelt and Marvin and Frances Anderson; and many nieces and nephews.

Andy was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Ann; and brother, Don Anderson.

Funeral services for Andy will be Saturday, September 7, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 125 W. 5th Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 6, 2019, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Short-Cunningham Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

Stephen Keith “Steve” McIntire, 67

Stephen Keith “Steve” McIntire, 67, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2019 in the comforts of his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 25, 1951 in Mount Carmel, the son of H. Keith and Florence (Tennes) McIntire. He married Vicki Byerly who preceded him in death on February 15, 2010 after thirty-eight years of marriage.

Steve faithfully served his country in the United States Army. For thirty-four years he worked in the family business, Precision Well Perforating. He also worked at the AutoZone parts store until his retirement. In his spare time Steve enjoyed the sport of shooting guns. He was an antique car enthusiast and liked rebuilding old cars. For the past several years, Steve and his girlfriend enjoyed traveling to Florida, Las Vegas and Gatlinburg. Steve was a family man. He dearly loved his family and spending time with them. His grandchildren held a very special place in his heart. Steve attended Keensburg Christian Church. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Steve will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Christopher (Trish) McIntire, Brian (Maria) McIntire; daughter, Kelly (Matthew) Hocking; grandchildren, Chloe & Ellie McIntire, Josh (Makayla) Wall, Jessica Wall, Brookelyn, Alex, Zach, Sam and Lily Hocking, Madison, Kylan and Jake McIntire; great-grandchildren, Kayden and Braxton Wall; longtime girlfriend, Sue Harrison; brother Gary (Sandra) McIntire; and many loved nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents.

In keeping with Steve’s wishes, cremation will take place and there will be a private family burial with Full Military Honors at a later date.

Kenneth Allen Cook, 70

Kenneth Allen Cook, 70, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, peacefully passed away on August 18, 2019, at his residence with his wife by his side.

 He was born January 26, 1949, in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of Roy Zelbert and Mildred Lucille (Earnest) Cook.  Kenneth honorably served two tours of duty in the United States Army in Vietnam, receiving two purple hearts.  On February 28, 1987, he married Donna Elaine Cash in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

 Kenneth was a mechanic, owning and operating a garage in Bridgeport, Illinois.  He was an electrician and heavy equipment mover.  Kenneth was a ham radio operator, enjoyed using his CB Radio and loved motorcycles.   

 Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Donna, of 32 years; daughters, Jennifer Lynn Gideon and husband Kevin, Dana Marie Delong and husband Dallas and Megan Nicole Cook; siblings, Betty Joe Poland, Roy Daniel Cook, Sheila Catherine (John) Hoh, Robert Keith (Sharon Annette) Cook, Roger Dale Cook and Claude William (Becky) Cook; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. 

 Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Johnny Poland; and sister-in-law Audrey Cook.

Lois Jean Hinderliter, 97

Lois Jean Hinderliter, 97, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 19, 2019 at Oakview Nursing Home. She was born September 28, 1921 in Mattoon Illinois, the daughter of George and Sylvia (Daly) Strine. She was married to Wayne Robert Hinderliter who preceded her in death.

Lois had worked at Champion Laboratories for many years before her retirement. In her spare time, she enjoyed tending to her garden. Lois was always active in her church and enjoyed teaching Sunday School at Gospel Assembly Church. More recently she was a member of Christ Chapel in Evansville, IN. She loved her family and will be dearly missed.

Lois will be remembered by her son, Robert Hinderliter; daughter, Deloris Ann (Gary) Wood; grandson, Mick Wood; great-grandsons, Ryan, Dereck and Robert (L.B.) Hinderliter, Ty and Drew Wood; several nieces, nephews and close friend, Mary Brock.

Randall L. “Randy” Walker, 67

Randall L. “Randy” Walker, 67, of Allendale, Illinois, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 30, 1952 in Wabash County the son of Virgil and Evelyn (Leek) Walker. He married Gloria Grounds on June 9, 1972 and she survives.

Randy worked as a coal miner for forty plus years. He loved his mining job and was a very hard worker. He started first at AMAX mine and then on to other mines in the area. Randy was an outdoorsman. He loved spending time in nature. He enjoyed hunting but his main passion was gardening. He was an avid gardener and often shared his abundant crops. Randy loved his family dearly and his grandchildren held a special place in his heart. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Allendale. Randy will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Randy will always be remembered by his loving wife of forty-seven years, Gloria; sons, Jason Walker of Allendale, IL, Daniel (Jean) Walker of St. Francisville, IL; daughter, Sarah (Jay) McClanahan of Henderson, KY; grandchildren, Luke & Ethan Walker, Graham McClanahan; brothers, Richard (Debbie) Walker, Greg ( Melody) Walker; sisters, Sharon (Ed) Schafer, Judy (Dan) Hunt, Linda Bates, Debbie (Greg) Smith, Brenda (Harry) Hottel; several nieces and nephews.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Jim Walker.

In keeping with Randy’s wishes, cremation will take place and no public services will be held.

Betty Jo Gard, 90

Betty Jo Gard, 90, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2019, at Oakview Heights Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born September 9, 1928, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, the daughter of Jess and Rachel (Seitz) Wheeler. On August 11, 1945, Betty married Ray Gard. He preceded her in death. They were married 70 years.

Betty worked at Thordarson Meissner’s for many years. She was a faithful member of Community Church of God in Mt. Carmel until her health no longer allowed her to attend.

She will be remembered by her daughter, Diana (Harold) Fiscus of Sumner, Illinois, and son, Scott (Susan) Gard of Allendale, Illinois.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray Gard; sisters, Mary Hicks, Kathryn Hebert, Addebell Wheeler, Hazel Strohm and Pansy May Wheeler; brothers, George Wheeler, T.R. Wheeler, Leroy Wheeler and William Wheeler.

Graveside services for Betty will be Thursday, August 22, 2019, at 12:00 noon at Highland Memorial Cemetery, 1827 College Drive, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

Prior to the graveside service, visitation will take place in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois, Thursday, August 22, 2019, from 9:30 until 11:30 a.m.

Karen Ann Sanders

Karen Ann Sanders passed away on Friday August 16 in Evansville IN. She was born on February 19, 1947 in Mt. Carmel, the daughter of Ralph and Lucille (Lawrence) Spurling. She married Gary Sanders on September 6, 1969 at the Pleasant Grove Church.

Karen was a cook for many years, working at West Salem Manor and Casey’s. She also worked at Thordason Meisners. She enjoyed gardening, mowing and going out to eat. She was a fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks. But Karen mostly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Gary; two daughters Pamela (David) Schwarzlose and Lisa (Randy) Hancock. Also surviving are seven grandchildren Joshua, Jacey, Jayla, Jordan and Jaden Schwarzlose, Rhett and Gracelyn Hancock; and one sister, Becky Dicus.

Visitation will be Wednesday August 21 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Zion United Methodist Church in West Salem. Funeral will be Thursday August 22 at 10:00am at the church. Burial will follow in the Moravian Cemetery in West Salem.

Mary Jo Birley, 88

Mary Jo Birley, 88, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 in the comforts of her home. She was born on February 8, 1931 in Mount Carmel, the daughter of Lee Allen and Lois (Wright) Shaffer. She married Donald Lee Birley who preceded her in death.

Mary Jo was one of the first employees of the Bank of Mount Carmel and a long-time employee of Dersch Energies Inc., formerly known as Dersch Oil. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha, Indiana University Chapter and Beta Sigma Phi of Mount Carmel. She had been a member and had served faithfully as a Deacon, a Sunday School teacher, as well as Treasurer of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ for many years.

Mary Jo will be lovingly remembered by her son, Kenneth and his wife Mary Birley of North Carolina; grandson, Paul and his wife Jaclyn Birley of Florida and one great-granddaughter, Paisley Rae Birley.

Mary Jo was preceded in death by her husband, and her parents.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 20, 2019 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.

Kristi Cropper, 46

Kristi Cropper, 46, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at her residence. She was born on May 25, 1973 in Mount Carmel, the daughter of Gary and Angie (Adams) Cropper.

Kristi was employed at the Red Café restaurant. She was an avid NASCAR fan and loved attending races. She enjoyed fishing, taking walks and spending time outdoors, especially at the river. She dearly loved her grand-babies and her family. She will be dearly missed.

Kristi will be lovingly remembered by her son, Tony (Cannon) Miller; daughter, Carly Cropper; grandchildren; Aveah and Adley Miller; parents, Gary and Angie Cropper; siblings, Brian (Melanie) Cropper, Troy Cropper, Kendra (Jason) York, Katie (Jack) Crawford; several nieces and nephews.

Franklin Goldman, 80

Franklin Goldman, 80, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born September 11, 1938, in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of Harry and Ada (Nesler) Goldman who preceded him in death.

Franklin graduated from Mt. Carmel High School and then served four years in the United States Air Force. He was stationed at RAF Croughton near Banbury, England. It was there he fell in love with an English girl, Gillian Clarke. They were married November 18, 1961, in Banbury, England, and began their life together in his hometown of Mt. Carmel. Frank and Jill raised three children together.

He began his career at Snap-On Tools where he was a supervisor in the Forge Department. After 32 years at Snap-On, he retired and spent most of his free time doing carpentry projects and fishing. He was also blessed with three incredible grandchildren. Frank was a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and was a member of First Baptist Church.

Frank is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gillian; children, Michael Goldman and wife Cassandra, Russell Goldman and wife Julie, and Mandy Leach and husband Gary; grandchildren, Madeline, Andrew and Marissa Goldman; three siblings, Sondra (Glenn) Howell, Ronald Goldman and Dianna (Ray) Wood.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Ada Goldman.

Funeral Services for Frank will be held Saturday, August 17, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Larry Sloss, Sr., 78

Larry Sloss, Sr., 78, of Bellmont, Illinois, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on October 15, 1940 in Bellmont, Illinois, the son of James and Marybel (Hinderliter) Sloss. He married Trudie Hallam on June 17, 1961 and together they enjoyed fifty-eight years of marriage.

Larry was very proud of his family and loved spending time with them. He always loved family get togethers hosting fish fry’s, chowder’s and pool parties at his house. For thirty years he owned and operated Sloss Ice Company in Bellmont, IL, providing the area with fresh quality ice. During Larry’s younger years, he enjoyed the sport of drag racing and won many trophies. He also played baseball and was especially fond of playing the position of pitcher. Among his hobbies, Larry loved fishing and tinkering with car restoration.

Larry faithfully served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a lifelong resident of Bellmont where he served as past Mayor and Village Trustee. He also taught

Tae Kwon Do at many Junior Colleges.

Larry will be remembered by his son, Larry Sloss, Jr. and his wife Theresa of Mount Carmel; daughter, Angie Sloss of Bellmont; grandchildren, Damon (Kristenia) Sloss and Heather (Jordan) Fischer; great grandchildren, Ryder and Carson Sloss, Avalyn Fischer, Nathanial, Matthias and Annelise Garrison; sister, Peggy Walling and husband Brad of Bellmont; and many loved nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents.
