Gary E. Renck, 86

Gary E. Renck, 86, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.  He was born on January 21, 1933 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Harold and Veronica (Gallatin) Renck.   Gary Graduated from Mount Carmel High School Class of 1951.  He was an outstanding athlete and received a scholarship to play football in college. Gary married Martha “Motsy” (Trimble) Renck on June 27, 1959 and together they enjoyed fifty-nine years of marriage.

Gary faithfully served his Country in the United States Army.  Following his service, Gary came back to Mount Carmel where he managed the meat locker and was a skilled butcher.  Gary was a very hard worker and retired from Snap-On Tools.  Among his hobbies, he enjoyed being outdoors working in the garden and camping with his family.  Above all, Gary loved his family and was very proud of his children and grandchildren.  He was a member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Mount Carmel.  He will be missed by his family and all who knew him.

Gary will be remembered by his loving wife, Motsy Renck; two sons, Kelly Renck of Mount Carmel and Kevin Renck of Centralia, IL; two daughters, Michelle Motta and husband Mike of Evansville, IN and Melissa Mosby of Fort Branch, IN; grandchildren, Alicia Reeves, Kristen Kays, Monica Courter, Nolan Renck, Mikayla Renck, Casey Mosby, Cydney Mosby, Paxton Mosby and Carley Mosby; great grandchildren, Chase, Brady, Lyla, Makenzie, Rylee and Noah.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Armando Gutierrez.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Robert Zwilling officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery with Full Military Honors.

The Graveside funeral service for Robert P. “Bob” Mounts was held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Highland Memorial Cemetery. Pastor Randy Snelling conducted the service.  It included Prayer, Scripture Readings, Music, and Eulogy. Music included recordings of “Daddy’s Hands by Holly Dunn and “Far Side Banks of Jordan” by Jimmy Fortune.  Honorary Pallbearers were Frank Krug, John Haase, Tim Chamberlain, and Mason Kennard. Robert P. Mounts, 75

Robert P. Mounts, 75, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois passed away Thursday, April 04, 2019 at his residence.

He was born October 31, 1943 the son of Paul and Helen (Brown) Mounts in Princeton, Indiana.

Bob married Evelyn Chapman on April 2, 1965 at the First Christian Church in Mt. Carmel. They had just celebrated 54 years together.

Bob was a member of First Christian Church of Mt. Carmel. He was a farmer for thirty-nine years and a Pioneer seed salesman for twenty-four years. He enjoyed fishing; rabbit and squirrel hunting, and playing cards. He loved everything about farming; he was proud to be a farmer through and through.  He was a member of the Wabash County Quail Club.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Evelyn; son, Tim (Ken Humphries) Mounts of Decatur, Georgia; and friends and honorary pallbearers, Frank Krug, John Haase, Tim Chamberlain, and Mason Kennard.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronald L. Mounts.

There will be a Graveside Service to celebrate Bob’s life on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Carmel with Randy Snelling presiding.

John F. Fisher, 71

John F. Fisher, 71, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Monday, April 1, 2019 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born June 28, 1947 in Princeton, Indiana, the son of Noble Verne and Frances (Morrison) Fisher. He married Charla Smith on December 6, 1970. Together they enjoyed forty-eight years of marriage.

John proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He worked as a Railroad Engineer for Norfolk Southern Railway for thirty-seven years before retiring. In his spare time, John enjoyed working in his garage re-building old cars and trucks. Later he began building model cars. His “garage buddies” stopped by daily and John looked forward to their visits. He was a member of the Mount Carmel High School graduating class of 1965. John loved his whole family dearly. He treasured the time he could spend with his sons. His three granddaughters held a special place in his heart. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

John will be remembered by his loving wife, Charla; two sons, Scott and his wife April Fisher, Mark and his wife Jennifer Fisher; three granddaughters, Kaleigh, Lexi and Lauren Fisher; and one sister Pat and her husband Wayne Walston; and one niece and two nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Sue Fisher.

Shirley Pauline Woods, 83

Shirley Pauline Woods, 83, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2019 at her residence with her loved ones by her side.

She was born October 4, 1935 in Princeton, Indiana, the daughter or Arnett Archibald and Ester Laverne (Ransford) Woods.

Shirley retired from the Wrigley Company in Chicago after working there for twenty-one years. She then continued employment at Wabash Valley College as a custodian for another twenty-one years.  She received an award for the Cleanest Campus.

Her hobbies included drawing, painting and just being with family. She enjoyed traveling, especially to California and Florida.  Shirley looked forward to her volunteer work at the Mt. Carmel Animal Shelter.

Those left to cherish her memories include her lifetime companion and friend, Elizabeth Mosher; brother Gilbert Woods; sisters Mary (Bobby)Whitehead, Norma Sisson, Ginny (Warner) Knight, Donna Evans, and Linda Bronstetter; and several nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Ronald, David and Doyle Woods.

Following her wishes, Shirley’s body will be cremated and no service will take place.

Kenneth “Kenny” Ray McKay, 78

Kenneth “Kenny” Ray McKay, 78, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  He was born on February 15, 1941, in Golden Gate, Illinois, the son of Chaney and Lois (Chalcraft) McKay.  Kenny married Connie Bratton on October 12, 1963, at Asbury Chapel in Mount Carmel, Illinois.  Together Kenny and Connie enjoyed fifty-five years of marriage centered on their family.

Kenny faithfully served his Country in the United States Army.  His favorite time was spent with family and he loved attending his grandchildren’s many activities.  Kenny loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting.  He also was an avid fisherman and loved sharing his fishing stories.  Kenny also loved a good game of pool with family and friends.  He retired from Snap-On Tools after forty years of service.  He was a member of Keensburg Christian Church.  Kenny will be missed by his family and all who knew him.

Kenny will be remembered by his wife, Connie McKay of Mount Carmel; three daughters, Kristi Berry and husband John of Bellmont, Elaine Sharp and husband Travis of Bone Gap and Michelle Milner and husband Daren of Olney, IL; nine grandchildren, Cole and Connor Berry, Kianna, Samantha, Evelyn, Ava and Heston Sharp and Madelynn and Jaedyn Milner; brother in law, Charles Pierce; sister in law, Betty McKay; many loved nieces and nephews.

Stephen “Ike” Iglehart, 77

Stephen “Ike” Iglehart, 77, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2019 following an accident at the Dis N Dat Store in Mount Carmel.  He was born on August 29, 1941 in Waco, Texas, the son of Stephen and Susie (White) Iglehart, Sr.

Ike faithfully served his Country in the United States Air Force.  Ike owned and operated the Dis N Dat Store in Mount Carmel where he loved meeting new people.  Among his hobbies, Ike enjoyed being outdoors and fishing.  He loved helping the youth of Mount Carmel.  He was truly a people person and never met a stranger.  He was active in AA meetings and Life Recovery Meetings and valued his friendships he made while attending these meetings.

Ike will be remembered by his sons, Stephen Iglehart III and Jarius Iglehart; four grandchildren; brother, Paul Iglehart; sisters, Patricia Iglehart and Naomi Buster; several nieces and nephews.

Ike was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and one sister.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Texas.

Becky Lewis, 63

Becky Lewis, 63, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2019, at her residence surrounded by the love of her family.  She was born on September 19, 1955 in Kentucky, the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth (Lipscomb) Dennis.  Becky married Mark Lewis and he preceded her in death on August 29, 1989.

Becky was proud of her children and grandchildren and always supported them in their endeavors.  She had a great zest for life and truly enjoyed her family and friends.  Becky will be remembered for her infectious laughter.  She had a caring spirit and truly loved all people.  Becky had a special gift to help others believe in themselves and was always encouraging others.  She was proud to be an independent at home caregiver for the terminally ill and elderly; and was passionate about serving others.  She will be missed by her family and all who knew her.

Maria “Mia” Josephina Huver, 93

Maria “Mia” Josephina Huver, 93, of Doniphan, Missouri, passed away Friday, March 8, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on January 8, 1926 in Schinveld, Netherlands, the daughter of Frans Johann and Maria Gertrud Helene (Kalberg) Jacobs.

Mia was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. To her family she was the best “Oma” anyone could have. She enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time with them. Mia liked playing cards and board games with her grandchildren and they enjoyed it just as much. She enjoyed knitting and sewing in her spare time. Music brought her joy and she loved to dance. Mia was a member of the Five Islands Women’s Club. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Carolyn Jane Macer, 84

Carolyn Jane Macer, 84, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at her residence at Mesa Lake with her family at her side.  She was born May 31, 1934, in Wabash County, Illinois, the daughter of D. Joseph and Bernadine (Vandever) Horrall.  She married Don Macer on December 24,1954.  Together they have enjoyed sixty-four years of devotion to one another.

Carolyn was employed as a secretary at Mount Carmel Public Utility Company for twenty-three years before retiring.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed working in the yard and tending to her flowers.  Her life was centered around the love for her family and her faith.  Carolyn was a lifelong member of the Mount Carmel Church of Christ. She enjoyed helping with the children in Sonshine School.  Carolyn will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her husband, Carolyn is survived by her children; Joe (Rosemary) Macer of Columbia, TN, Susan Johnson, James (Linda) Macer and Sherri Clevenger all of Mount Carmel, IL; twelve grandchildren, Matthew (Melody) Macer, Cassandra (Joshua) Turner, Zebulun (Dara) Macer, Jonathan (Natalie) Macer, Nick (Elicia) Johnson, Chris (Angela) Johnson, Andy Johnson, Jeremiah (Brandi) Macer, Jacob (Amanda) Macer, Jenny (Steve) Perry, Benjamin Macer and Caleb Macer; nineteen treasured great-grandchildren; one sister, Kathryn Eggebrecht of Davenport, FL.; and several nieces and nephews.

Brenda Sue Morehead, 66

Brenda Sue Morehead, 66, of Mount Carmel, Illinois went home to be with the Lord following a tragic accident on Tuesday, March 5, 2019. She was born on September 10, 1952 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, the daughter of Jack and Betty (Roberts) Krinke. Brenda married Dan Morehead on October 14, 2006 at the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Mount Carmel.

Brenda will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her children, Mat and Jill, remember their mother as being the best mom and always making sure they had everything they needed. Brenda was on fire for the Lord and was a fierce prayer warrior. She had a heart for serving others through mission work. The recent mission trip to Bosnia, strengthened her passion for helping others. Brenda loved her golden retriever dog, Max, who also lost his life in the tragic accident.

Brenda worked as the community service director for Wabash County and also served as an Executive Director of Special Advocacy for Judge Sawyer. She was a member of First Baptist Church and her church family was very dear to her. She will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.

Brenda will be remembered by her husband, Dan Morehead; son, Mat (Nikki) Marchbank of Newnan, GA; daughter, Jill (Jason) Henley of Willow Springs, MO; step children, Derrek, Dustin and Daniel Morehead, and Danelle Just; grandchildren, Ben Marchbank, Cole Henley, Tryton Henley, Ansley Johnson and Ethan Marchbank; step grandchildren, Michael, Merada, Maria, Makenzie and Mason Morehead, Kalyn and Walker Just; brothers, Doug (Laura) Krinke of Cartersville, GA and Joe (Rhonda) Krinke of Cave Springs, GA; sister, Pam (Phil) Cleaver of Pleasant Grove, OH; many loved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Howard E. Rosignol, 72

Howard E. Rosignol, 72, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019 Deaconess Gateway Heart Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.  He was born on August 16, 1946 in Mount Carmel, the son of Perry and Myrtle (Guard) Rosignol.  Howard married Etta Anthis on March 23, 1968, in Mount Carmel, Illinois.

Howard faithfully served his Country in the United States Army where he served during the Vietnam War. During his service he earned Vietnam Service & Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge and the Army Commendation Medal.  He retired as an electrician after forty-five years where he was a part of the Local Union #16.  Howard was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.  Etta and Howard loved getting in the car and going for a drive in Wabash County.

Howard will be remembered by his loving wife, Etta Rosignol of Mount Carmel; two brothers, Paul Rosignol and his wife Nancy and Bill Rosignol and his wife Cindy; sister, Joyce Swanson; along with many loved nieces and nephews.  Howard was preceded in death by his parents.

In keeping with Howard’s wishes he will be cremated and a Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 11, 2019 at Highland Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Deron Colgan officiating along with Full Military Honors.

James Trapp, 92

James Trapp, 92, of Dunnellon, Florida, formerly of Mt. Carmel passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019 at his son’s residence in Ohio.

James was born the fifth child of the late Peter and Minnie (Peter) Trapp on May 18, 1926 in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. James graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in 1944. He married Theresa Bernadette Willett on June 5, 1945 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mt. Carmel. They enjoyed fifty-two years of marriage before her passing on May 11, 1998.

After graduating from high school, he joined the U. S. Army, serving until 1946. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. In his early years he worked on his family farm and after serving in the military he worked in store management and merchandising with S.S. Kresge Co., that later became K-Mart. During his years in Florida, he was an active member of St. John the Baptist parish. An avid hobbyist and gardener, he loved working in his yard. He and his family enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and other countries over the years.

James was the loving father of Gary, Michael (Karen), Jacinta (Alan) Bushong, Gregory (Pam), and Jay (Karen); beloved granddad of nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and, loved brother of Helen Schulte and Delores Batcke.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Minnie; wife Bernadette; siblings Mary Catherine Decker, John, Paul and Celeste Baker.

The rosary will be said, followed by Memorial Mass on Saturday, March 9, 2019 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 125 W. 5th Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mt. Carmel.

In lieu of flowers, James requested gifts be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or School, or to Unity Hospice in St. Louis, MO or any local Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the church and at Short Funeral Home.

Cindy Buchanan, 60

Cindy Buchanan, 60, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born October 25, 1958 in Mount Carmel, Illinois, the daughter of Harold and Maris (Deffendal) Schonaman. She married Greg Buchanan on February 12, 1977 and he survives.

Cindy was diagnosed with Facioscapulohumeral (FSH) Muscular Dystrophy at age twelve. She worked hard to live life to the fullest and persevered through her disability. She graduated from Mount Carmel High School in 1976 and then Wabash Valley College with an RN degree in nursing. Cindy greatly enjoyed her career in nursing. Caring for others who were in need gave her great satisfaction. She operated home-health agencies as Director of Nursing and continued to work as long as her own health would allow. In her spare time, Cindy and Greg enjoyed antique shopping all over the Midwest. Cindy loved her dogs and was often seen around town carrying a big purse with her little Yorkie inside. Cindy attended Samaria Missionary Baptist Church in Albion, Illinois. She loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Cindy will be lovingly remembered by her loving husband of forty-two years, Greg; son, Matthew Buchanan of Coppell Texas; granddaughter, Channing Lee; parents, Harold and Maris Schonaman; brothers, Ed (Cheryl) Schonaman, Don (Cindy) Schonaman all of Mount Carmel, Illinois; sisters, Teresa (Phil) Schrodt of Browns, Illinois, Amy (Mark) Clodfelter of West Salem, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; and father-in-law, Robert E. Buchanan.

Cindy was preceded in death by one sister, Karen Edwards; and one brother, Harold Alan Schonaman.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 8, 2019 at Saint John Lutheran Cemetery in Wabash County, Illinois, with Pastor Allan Wright officiating.

Susan I. Porter, 67

Susan I. Porter, 67, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Monday, February 25, 2019 at Oakview Nursing Home and Rehabilitation surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born March 17, 1951 in Princeton, Indiana, the daughter of Carl and Doris (Merriel) Porter.

Susan was a member of the Mount Carmel High School Class of 1969 and a member of the Gospel Kingdom Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed her hobbies of jewelry making, reading books and writing. Susan enjoyed spending time with friends and her family was most important to her. Susan was the proudest of her three girls. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Susan will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Dana (Jerry) Summers, April (Mattie) Ross; grandchildren, Dacia Roy, Cody Roy, Justin Harms, Jaggar Harms, Alex Obermeyer, Anthony Obermeyer, Summitt Ross, Saylor Ross; five great-grandchildren, Trinity, Mina, Troy, Kallen and Grady.

Susan was preceded in death by her father, Carl Porter; mother and step-father, Doris (Merriell) Renner and Earl Renner; daughter, Jenny Casburn; two brothers, Carl Porter and James Renner.

Edward Oscar Knowles, 87

Edward Oscar Knowles, 87, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2019, at the Deaconess Midtown Campus in Evansville, Indiana.

He was born April 5, 1931, in Warrick County, Indiana, the son of Orville and Ester (Heugel) Knowles. On July 9, 1949, Edward married Ruth Rosalind Hargrave. She preceded him in death after 56 wonderful years of marriage.

Edward owned and operated UniParts Incorporated in Princeton, Indiana. The business was very successful and was handed down to his son, Larry, who successfully ran it as well. The business later moved to Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

He was a devoted father and husband who loved time spent with family. Several of his fond memories were celebrating his parents’ 60th wedding anniversary in Arizona, and later, he and his devoted wife’s 50th anniversary celebration. Edward enjoyed family vacations, fishing, fishing excursions, camping, being outdoors, crafting and creating.

Left to cherish Edward’s memory is his children, Larry Richard Knowles and his wife Lana of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, and Darlene Ankenbrand of Atlanta, Georgia; brother, Chester Knowles; sisters, Paula Knowles, Carol Digiacoma, Mary Ryder and Martha Toliver; twelve grandchildren; and, was blessed with many great and great-great grandchildren.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth R.; children Steven Edward Knowles and Edward Alan Knowles; and siblings, Eugene Robert, Ruth, Anna and Alice.

Richard K. “Dick” Hockgeiger, 92

Richard K. “Dick” Hockgeiger, 92, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Oakview Nursing Home and Rehab surrounded with the love of his family.  He was born August 21, 1926 in Mount Carmel, the son of Albert Adam and Helena Margaretta (Keneipp) Hockgeiger.  Dick married Agnes Keepes, “The Love of His Life”, on November 4, 1950 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church and she survives.

Dick graduated from Mount Carmel High School in 1944.  Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and joined WWII.  Dick was not yet old enough to enlist in the service so his mother had to consent for him to join. His “tour of duty” led him to Hawaii, Alaska and Japan.  He also passed the Equator and road across the Panama Canal.  Dick served aboard the U.S.S. Guilford, which was commissioned the year he enlisted.  He was always proud to be a Veteran and support the United States of America. After the war, Dick attended SIU Carbondale where he studied General Business.  He left SIU to play baseball at Joe Stripp’s Baseball School in Orlando, Florida.  From there he played for the Brooklyn Dodger’s minor league baseball team.  Dick also played for the Mount Carmel Indians and the Evansville Sterling baseball teams.  He coached the boy’s basketball team at Saint Mary’s School and was a Boy Scout Leader.

Dick worked for the railroad from 1951 to 1988.  He worked for the New York Central, Penn Central, Con Rail and the Cairo Terminal Railroads.  He was also a Union Steward and traveled to many conventions and helped in many legal matters while in this position.  Dick was a member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and the National Retired and Veteran Railway Employees.

Dick was the happiest when his whole family was together.  He loved his family, the Catholic Church, the St. Louis Cardinals and his trips to Louisiana.  He will be remembered for his “big smile” and his “pretty blue eyes”!

Dick leaves behind his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Agnes; the four children who blessed their lives, Tara (Danny) Reeves of Heflin Louisiana, Tim (Donna) Hockgeiger, Julie Tennes and Kent (Ronda) Hockgeiger all of Mount Carmel, Illinois; sixteen grandchildren, Erin (Kevin) Watts, Karrie (David) Fortenberry, Robert (Brittany) Reeves, Hilary (Kendall) Guillot, Stephanie Myers, David Myers, Allison (Jarod) Miller, Natalie (Cory) Schraner, Andrea Tennes, Martin (Cami) Tennes, Emily Tennes, Ashley Tennes, Ryan (Shelby) Hockgeiger, Kasey (James) Gill, Grant Hockgeiger, Haley Hockgeiger; eighteen great-grandchildren, Michael Watts, C.J. Watts, Nolan Watts, Jude Fortenberry, Asher Fortenberry, Sawyer Guillot, Alexis Myers, Logan Myers, Collin Myers, Violet Miller, Ben Miller, Ezra Miller, Drew Schraner, Otto Tennes, Aubren Hockgeiger, Isabelle Hockgeiger, Ryleigh Gill, Cooper Gill.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Max Hockgeiger; and son-in-law Martin Tennes.

A Rosary Service will be at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, February 21, 2019 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home, followed by a Military Walk Through from the Mount Carmel Honor Guard. Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation immediately following the Rosary and Walk Through until 8:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 22, 2019, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Robert Zwilling, Father Bill Rowe, Deacon Steve Lowe and Deacon Charlie Speaks officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Colette J. “Letty” Tennis

Colette J. “Letty” Tennis, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2019 at Oakview Nursing and Rehab surrounded by the love of her family.  She was born May 25, 1931 in Wabash County Illinois the daughter of Francis and Violet (Hilbert) Sandwell.  She married John J. Tennis on February 12, 1952 at the St. Francisville Catholic Church and he preceded her in death.

Letty was a graduate of St. Francisville High School and a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church.  She was a devoted homemaker.  Letty was a very sweet lady who enjoyed reading, sewing and crafts.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Letty will be lovingly remembered by her five children, Teresa Jakubisin, Anthony Tennis, Karen Blacklidge, Michael Tennis, Louise (Brent Leatherman) Tennis; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sisters, Rosemary McInerney, Lois (Charles) Speth; brothers, Donald (Linda) Sandwell, Stephen (Gayle) Sandwell.

In addition to her husband, Letty was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Anthony and Norman Sandwell; brother-in-law, David McInerney.

Barry D. Wirth, 54

Barry D. Wirth, 54 of St. Francisville, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2019 surrounded by the love of his family.  He was born July 29, 1964 in Marion, Ohio, the son of Jerry and Barbara (Hillyard) Wirth.

Barry was a union pipefitter for twenty-two years with UA Local 136.  He was a 3rd degree Mason with Stellar Lodge #912 and a 32nd degree Mason with the Valley of Danville Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite.  Barry was an avid outdoorsman.  He would hunt mushrooms in the spring and also enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting.  Barry liked spending time at the river and attending squirrel camp with his friends.  Barry deeply loved his family and his little granddaughter was the light of his life.  He will be dearly missed.

Barry will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Barry Wirth II of St. Francisville, Illinois, Brandon Wirth of Princeton, Indiana; one granddaughter, Ellianna Wirth; mother, Barbara (George) Havill; sisters; Mindy (Jeff) Jones, Robin (Tom) McKain; brother, Tim Wirth; step-mother, Jane Wirth; friend and former wife, Emily (Tom) Zwilling and several nieces and nephews.

Barry was preceded in death by his father.

Thomas Amon Andrews, 86

Thomas Amon Andrews, 86, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Monday, February 4, 2019, at The Villages at Oak Ridge in Washington, Indiana.

 He was born in September 10, 1932, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, the only child of Chester and Bessie (Lowe) Andrews.  Tom graduated from Mt. Carmel High School.  He entered the U.S. Navy for four years during the Korean Conflict.  On August 3, 1953, Tom married Barbara June Mabry, in Marshall, Illinois.  After his arrival home from the service, Tom attended Oakland City University and then went on to Eastern Illinois University receiving his Master’s Degree.    

 Tom worked at the Allendale High School (1961-1965 7th Grade, 1965-1975 Business Teacher High School, 1975-1979 Principal) where he also coached baseball and basketball.  After leaving Allendale High School, he went to work at Wabash Valley College (9/7/1975 Part-time Adjunct Instructor, 8/28/1979-5/31/1994 Full Time, then retiring 5/31/1994, 8/1/1994-6/15/2016 Adjunct, Special Projects, Community Ed, etc) .  Tom was in charge of the Wabash Valley College marketing and mid-management departments and taught business classes.  In 1994, Tom retired from Wabash Valley College, continuing to teach only part time. 

 Tom loved woodworking and running his business, Hickory Corner Wood Creations.  Some of his creations were cutting boards, trivets, candle holders and small tables which he displayed and sold for several years at craft shows.  Tom and Barbara enjoyed years of traveling coast to coast. 

 Left to cherish Tom’s memory are his two sons, Michael Andrews of Florida and Stephen Andrews of Louisiana; five grandchildren, Nathan Andrews, Ethan Andrews, KeeLee Guste, Stephanie Andrews and Dalton Andrews; and six great-grandchildren.

 Tom is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Barbara of 64 years.

 Visitation for friends and family will be Thursday, February 7, 2019, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. (CST) in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois.  A funeral service will be held Friday, February 8, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. (CST) at Short Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
