Donna Jean Paris, 74

Donna Jean Paris, 74, of Newburgh, Indiana, (formerly of Mt. Carmel) passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at Owensboro Health surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 21, 1944, in Wabash County, Illinois, the daughter of Wilber E. and Dorothy F. (Rigg) Doty. She graduated from Bridgeport High School in Bridgeport, Illinois.

Donna worked in the Human Resource Department for Old National Bank. She enjoyed reading and loved to cook--making everything from scratch.

Left to cherish Donna’s memory is her son Tony Cariota and his wife Lori of Owensboro, Kentucky; three grandchildren; siblings Sherry Tripiedi and Lindell (Gloria) Doty; and her dog Izzy Paris. 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation for Donna will be Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home, 527 N Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois with Graveside Services at 5:30 p.m. at Adams Corner Cemetery, 20030 E 1300 Road, Wabash County, Illinois.

Bunny Gale (Morgan) Colclasure, 62

Bunny Gale (Morgan) Colclasure, 62, passed away in the early morning hours on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at home in her own bed, being held lovingly in the arms of her daughter, Tonie Marriott. 

Bunny was living in Destin, Florida at the time of her death but was a long-time resident of Mt. Carmel, IL.  She was born July 7, 1955, in Mt. Carmel, the daughter of Jim and Laura (Lambert) Morgan.

Bunny Gale was a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School, Class of 1973, where she was a proud and enthusiastic cheerleader for Mt. Carmel Golden Aces sports teams. 

She married C. Gene Colclasure in 1990, and he preceded her in death in 1998. 

Bunny worked in the casino gambling industry for several years, beginning her career at Casino Aztar in Evansville, IN, as a card and dice game dealer.  She went on to work on the Alton Belle Riverboat Casino in Alton, IL where she was promoted to Dice Game Pit Boss. Bunny concluded her career working as a Senior Pit Boss on Victory Casino Cruises out of Cape Canaveral, FL.  

She was a devout Christian and loved attending Jacob's Well Church in Mt. Carmel while living there, as well as any time she came home to visit.

Bunny Gale will be lovingly remembered by her children, Tonie Marriott of Destin, FL, Mike Clark of Peoria, IL, Tally Adams of Denton, TX, and step-daughter, Pagan Colclasure of Carmi, IL; grandchildren, Livia Clark, Seth Clark, Robyn Adams, Morgan Evans, Wyatt Adams and Cody Adams; brothers, Jay Morgan and Chuck Morgan, both of Mt. Carmel; half-sister, Candy Brady of New York State; cousin (whom Bunny thought of as a sister) Mindy Majors of Mt. Carmel; dear aunts Karen Boyd, Judy Lambert, Lynn Hinderliter and Bonnie Powers. She is also survived by several cousins, with whom she was close.

Bunny was preceded in death by her parents; husband; uncles, Tom Lambert and Butch Lambert, and aunt Earlene Harms.

Funeral Services will be 4:00 p.m., Friday, June 8, 2018, in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home, with Shane Whetstone officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Carmel.

Funeral Report-William F. “Bill” Bailey.

Funeral Services were held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, June 2, 2018 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home to honor the life of William F. “Bill” Bailey. Prior to the start of the service our local honor guard conducted a military walk through. Father Bill Rowe conducted the service that included a welcome message, poem, and prayer.  Family member, Kenny Bailey also shared memories of Bill and reflected on family.   Musical selection during the service included, “Amazing Grace”. “Don’t Cry for Me” and “Heaven is my Home”.  At the conclusion of the service, the local honor guard presented the flag to Bill’s wife, Sherry Bailey for his faithful service to our country.  Bill’s daughter, Billie Lynn thanked those in attendance for the service of her father.  A 21-gun salute was conducted at the funeral home along with playing of Taps by Bill Hudson.  Keepes Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of William F. “Bill” Bailey.

Funeral Services were held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, May 27, 2018 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home to honor the life of Ralph L. York.  Pastor Deron Colgan conducted the service that included words of comfort, scripture passages, reading of the obituary, message and closing prayer.  Josh Galloway, fiancée’ to Ralph’s granddaughter shared fond memories of their passion for woodworking and how proud he was to be able to continue the family tradition to build a baby crib with Ralph. Musical selection during the service included, “Old Rugged Cross”, “Amazing Grace” and “I Want to Stroll Over Heaven with You”.  Burial took place at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Mount Carmel, IL.   Pallbearers were Aaron Smith, David Bonczkowski, Joel Hefner, Josh Galloway, Clayton Meeks and David Williams. Fred Jackson, 90

Fred Jackson, 90, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at The Heritage Center in Evansville, Indiana, with family by his side.

He was born July 20, 1927, the only child of Lewis and Ruby (Kirkpatrick) Jones. Fred attended a one room school house and graduated high school at the age of 16. He also received his pilot’s license at that age. After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy, he attended the University of Indiana obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Geology. Fred moved to Mt. Carmel to work for George and Wrather Oil Company as a geologist in the early 1950’s. Fred married Olivia Mains at the Methodist Church in Mt. Carmel on February 14, 1953. In 1961, Fred became owner/operator of Jackson Oil Corporation, working there for 57 years.

Fred was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Mt. Carmel. He was a Shriner, Mason of Masonic Lodge 239 and was a member of Elks BPOE 715 in Mt. Carmel. Fred loved his family and was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren that called him “grandpa.” He also enjoyed the time he spent with his dog “Jazzy.”

Left to cherish Fred’s memory are his children, Julie Fearheiley and her husband John of Mt. Carmel, Jana Williamson and her husband Tom of Mahomet, Illinois, Jeff Jackson and Leah Hedge of Mt. Carmel, and Joe Jackson and his wife Julie of Floresville, Texas; fourteen grandchildren, Amanda (Dan) Fawell, Emma Jackson, Dustin Stokes, Matthew Stokes, Cory (Candy) Richmond, Collin (Hanna) Richmond, Brooke (Jarin) Wilsey, Guy (Anna) Williamson, Grant Fearheiley, Emily Fearheiley, Hannah (Christian) Fearheiley, Victoria Kuzmich, Tracy (Clarissa) Kuzmich and Nate Jackson; thirteen great-grandchildren; and Jazzy Jackson his faithful dog companion.

Fred is preceded in death by his parents, wife, an infant son and infant daughter.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 8, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home, 527 N. Mulberry Street, Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Masonic services will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The funeral service for Fred will be Saturday, June 9, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Short Funeral Home with visitation prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial service will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery, 1827 College Drive, Mt. Carmel.

William F. “Bill” Bailey, 83

William F. “Bill” Bailey, 83, of Browns, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Meadowood Nursing Home in Grayville, Illinois surrounded by the love of his family.  He was born on November 28, 1934 in Albion, IL the son of Major and Ruth (Hinderliter) Bailey.  Bill married Sherry Bobbitt on June 18, 1988 and they enjoyed twenty-nine years of marriage.

Bill will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.  He graduated from Edwards County High School Class of 1954 and attended Wabash Valley College and Eastern Illinois University.  He faithfully served his Country in the United States Army where he was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska.  Bill never met a stranger and loved visiting with family and friends.  He was very active in the Albion Chowder that his father started.  Bill also loved attending many community events and socializing. He spent many years as a brick layer and was very proud of his work.  Bill also owned and operated a limousine service for twenty years.  He was a member of the Elks, Moose and Eagles.  Bill was also a member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Mount Carmel, IL.

Bill will be remembered by his loving wife, Sherry Bailey of Browns, IL; his children, Billie Lynn (JB) Young of Midland, TX, Randy (Lisa Cheng) Bailey of Paradise Valley, AZ, Rita (Steve) Firley of Scottsdale, AZ, Mitchell Bailey of Phoenix, AZ, Colleen (Steve Kuzmich) Bailey of Dallas, TX and William Major Bailey of Browns, IL; grandchildren, Macey Madding, Abby (Matt) King, Taylor Young, Kaley (Andrew) Lopez, Shannon Young and Darrell Cheng; step grandchildren, Chrissy (Carlos) Barradas, Rachel Reynolds, Brittney (Landon) Fewkes and Kaeli Reynolds; great grandchildren, Keegan Moore, Tessa Lopez and Emma Lopez; step grandchildren, Mario Barradas, Kya Dunn, Jackson Dunn, Jamison Wheedon, Zoey Wheedon, Taylor Fewkes and Brenley Fewkes; brother, Ed (Mary) Bailey of Albion, IL; along with several nieces and nephews.

Dr. Donald (Doc) Tombaugh, 93

Dr. Donald (Doc) Tombaugh, 93, of Mt. Carmel, IL passed away on Friday, May 25, 2018, surrounded by his loving family at his residence.


He was born on June 11, 1924 in Mt. Carmel, IL ; one of four boys to Percy Jacob and Jennie “Price” Tombaugh. Donald graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in 1942. He continued his education at Chicago College of Optometry, graduating in February 1951. Donald belonged to Tomb and Key Honor Society. He was the last living Charter Member of the Mt. Carmel Lions Club. Through the years he was very active in Boy Scouts, Little League, and Mt. Carmel Boosters Club. Donald was a Lifetime Member of the VFW. He started the filming of the Mt. Carmel Aces Football and continued that for several years.


On April 16, 1948 in Mt .Carmel at Evangelical United Brethren Church he married Roma Jean Smith and they enjoyed seventy years together. They had three children, Peggy Jean, Ann Marie and Diane Tombaugh. Living in Mt. Carmel he was a member of EUM Church and owned and operated the office of Dr. D.R. Tombaugh Optometrist for forty-two years.
Donald served his country in the Navy Air Corp. He was stationed onboard the USS Ommaney Bay when it sunk in the Philippines.


Donald is survived by his wife Roma Jean; two daughters, Peggy Jean and husband Joe Caldari of Ormond Beach, FL and Ann Marie and husband Steve Schurman of Mt. Carmel; grandchildren, Jessica Jean and husband Alex Schalasky, Jordan Craig and wife Chelsey Schurman, Amanda Caldari and Joey Caldari; great granddaughter, Amelia Rose Schalasky. 
Preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Jennie; brothers, Sheldon , Paul and John; infant granddaughter Charissa Tombaugh Johnson; infant daughter, Diane Tombaugh.


Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday May 30, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in Highland Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Carmel IL 62863. There will be no visitation prior to the graveside.

Shawn Allen Inboden, 49

Shawn Allen Inboden, 49, of Mount Carmel, Illinois passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Wabash General Hospital.  He was born on May 6, 1969 in Wayne County, Illinois, the son of Carol Sue Vaught.

Shawn loved to listen and sing to Elvis Presley music.  He enjoyed being outdoors especially mowing and weed eating.  He also enjoyed visiting with his friends.

Shawn will be remembered by two sons, Sam Inboden and Joey Stinson; along with many friends.  Shawn was preceded in death by his mother.

In keeping with Shawn’s wishes, he will be cremated and no formal services will be held at this time.

Ralph Lynn York, 95


Ralph Lynn York, 95, of Mount Carmel, Illinois passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, IN surrounded by the love of his family.  He was born on March 23, 1923 in Crawford County, IL, the son of Henry and Effie (Mathena) York.  Ralph married Jessie Evelyn Wirth on August 18, 1947 and they enjoyed seventy years of marriage.

Ralph will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.  He was very proud of his family and his greatest treasure was in the time he spent with those he loved.  His grandchildren held a special place in his heart.  Ralph had a passion for woodworking and was very proud of the gifts he made for family and friends.  He also loved being outdoors and loved to work in his garden.  Ralph and Evelyn enjoyed travelling to many new places all over the United States.  Ralph was a very hard worker and spent thirty-eight years at Ashland before retiring.  He attended the Free Methodist Church in Mount Carmel.

Ralph will be remembered by his loving wife, Evelyn York of Mount Carmel, IL; two daughters, Brenda (Fred) Smith and Sandra (Gary) McIntire; grandchildren, Leanna (David) Bonczkowski, Aaron (Amada) Smith, Stacy (Joel) Hefner, Sara (Fiancée Josh Galloway) McIntire, Suzanne (Clayton) Meeks and Sabrina (David) Williams; great grandchildren, Amanda and Kayla Bonczkowski, Sophia Smith, Elizabeth, John and Anna Hefner, Norah and Eston Meeks, Ella and Henry Williams;

Wilda A. Bostick, 60

Wilda A. Bostick, 60, of Petersburg, Indiana, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018, at University Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

She was born August 31, 1957, in Mount Carmel, Illinois, the daughter of Barbara Ann (Banks) and Waldo Harold Wright.  She married Roy Bostick.  He passed away June 4, 2015.

Wilda was a very giving and loving person.  She worked as a Nurse Aide in nursing homes.  Her grandchildren were special to her and she loved every minute she could spend with them.

Left to cherish her memory are her father, Waldo Harold Wright of Bonita Springs, Florida; son, Waldo Leroy Williams of Vincennes, Indiana; stepdaughter, Robyn Goings of Petersburg, Indiana; grandchildren Drake Lung, Andrew Williams, Brooklyn Williams, Gavin Lung, Mekenna Goings, Haden Goings; brothers, Michael Wright of Owensville, Indiana and Timothy Wright of Princeton, Indiana; and sister Sheri David of Bonita Springs, Florida.

Chad Aaron Rotramel, 46

Chad Aaron Rotramel, 46, of rural West Salem, IL, passed from this life to the next on Monday, May 14, 2018 at his home.

He was born March 18, 1972 in Mt. Carmel, IL to Marilyn (Brooks) and Armine L. Rotramel, Jr. He married Bethany Fishel on May 27, 1995 in West Salem, and she survives.

Chad loved to farm, and had a passion for football. He played, coached, and refereed the sport. He was a good dad and husband, and loved watching his children in whatever sport they were involved in. He was a quiet man with a big presence.

He is survived by his wife Bethany, daughters Hannah and Audrey, and son Andrew, all of rural West Salem; his father, Armine of Browns, IL; and his brother, Chris (Debbie) of Charleston, IL. He was preceded in death by his mother Marilyn.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Moravian Church Sanctuary in West Salem. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, May 21 at 10 a.m. at the Moravian Church.

Memorials may be made to the Edwards County High School Athletic Department or the Moravian Cemetery Operating Fund.

Clayton Clifford Collar, 83, of Bellmont

Clayton Clifford Collar, 83, of Bellmont, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Oakview Heights Continuous Care and Rehab.  He was born on October 10, 1934 in Vermillion, South Dakota the son of Kenneth and Nellie (South) Collar.  Clayton married Dorothy "Dottie" Berry on April 22, 1961 and together they enjoyed fifty-seven years of marriage centered on their family.

Clayton will be remembered as a loving husband and father.  He faithfully served his country in the United States Army.  Harness racing was Clayton's life where he spent a lot of time training and racing horses.  His first race was at the young age of fourteen and his last race he was at the age of sixty-five.  Clayton harness raced at all the local county fairs and also travelled to Chicago and New York.  He was a trained blacksmith and shoed his own horses.  In his younger years, Clayton had a talent of auctioneering and enjoyed meeting new people at the different events he auctioneered at.  Clayton was a member of the VFW #8222 in Albion, Illinois.  Clayton will be missed by his family and friends.

Clayton will be remembered by his wife, Dottie Collar of Bellmont; daughters, Dana (Eugene) Hornback of Bellmont, Daneen Collar of Mount Carmel and a niece whom Clayton and Dottie thought of as a daughter, Janel (David) Wherry of Vermillion, South Dakota; along with many nieces and nephews.

Clayton was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Clifford Clayton Collar; Brothers, Virgil Collar, Keith Collar; sisters, Faye Walls, Bonnie Tiezen; nephews, Ronald Bice and Thomas Bice.

Willard L. Lewis, 70

Willard L. Lewis, 70, of Mount Carmel, Illinois passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2018 at his residence surrounded by the love of his family.  He was born on March 4, 1948 in Shawneetown, IL the son of Willard and Helen (Holloway) Lewis.  He was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School class of 1966.  Willard married Sandra Hortin on September 28, 1968 and they enjoyed forty-nine years of marriage.

Willard loved his family and was especially proud of his two sons and his grandchildren held a special place in his heart.  His favorite time was spent on the river with his dog Sam.  He also enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing.  Willard worked in the oilfield as a rig operator for over twenty years at Harrison Well Services. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Willard will be remembered by his loving wife Sandra Lewis of Mount Carmel, IL; two sons, Willard (Randi) Lewis, Jr. of Mount Carmel and Jason (Jennifer) Lewis of Johnston City, IL; grandchildren, Bobbie Sue (Steven “Joey”) Luecke, Madison Lewis, McKinlee Lewis and baby Kolton Lewis on the way; Great grandchildren, Elliana Luecke,  brothers, Gary (Rose) Lewis of Mount Carmel and Larry Lewis of Princeton, IN; sisters, Sherry (Robert) Schmidt of Owensville, IN and Patricia Ewing of Grayville, IL; several nieces and nephews; along with several good friends.

Melanie Sue Banks, 45, of Effingham, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2018 of unexpected surgical complications in Springfield, Illinois, surrounded by her family.

Melanie was born on November 11, 1972, in Ocala, Florida, the daughter of Steve and Katie (Dee) Banks.

She had an Associate’s Degree in Arts and worked at Three-Z-Printing. Melanie enjoyed her work and the many friendships she had with coworkers. She lived an adventurous life. Melanie loved her family and made sure they knew her love for them.

Left to cherish Melanie’s memory are her children, Ethan Kent Adams, Tabbitha Mackenzie Adams and Samantha Rain Adams; her parents, Kathryn (Dee) and Steven Banks; sisters, Page (Banks) Kuhlman and Shelly (Banks) Euell; and long term significant other, Chris Nugent.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mary Ann (Fanning) and J. Roy Dee, Jr., and, her paternal grandparents, Ruth Maxine (Clark) and Raymond Banks.

A Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date at Sewall’s Point in Stuart, Florida.

David “Rick” McClane, 66

David “Rick” McClane, 66, of Mount Carmel, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 25, 1952 in Wabash County, Illinois the son of Norman and Virginia (McClellan) McClane. He married Debra Banks on October 20, 1971 and together they have celebrated forty-six and a half years of marriage.

Rick faithfully served his county in the United States Air Force. He was employed by Snap On Tools Corporation for thirty four years working in electrical machine repairs. Rick was a member of the Mount Carmel High School graduating class of 1971 and a member of First General Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching football and was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Rick was a wonderful family man. He greatly enjoyed trips and picnics with his family. They often spent the day exploring Garden of the Gods in southern Illinois. Rick also enjoyed fishing as a family activity. He had a great sense of humor and his family and friends will always treasure those memories. Rick was very handy with home repairs and remodeling and greatly enjoyed those projects. He was very kind and always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He will be dearly missed.

Rick will be remembered by his loving wife, Debbie; daughters, Christy (Michael) Wilson, Tiffany Trauger; grandchildren, Micah (Malarie Hargrave), Hannah & Piper Wilson, Ty, Tommy, Trey & Teddy Trauger and their father Chad Trauger; brother, Rodney McClane; sisters, Kay (Jerry) Smith, Ruth (Joe) Smith; mother-in-law, Wilma (Albert) Banks and several nieces and nephews and many lifelong friends.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 13, 2018 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Underwood officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Family and friends may gather for a Visitation from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, May 13, 2018 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.

Dorothy Renee “Dottie” Lane, 49

Dorothy Renee “Dottie” Lane, 49, of Hazelton, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at her residence. She was born July 30, 1968 in Mount Carmel, Illinois the daughter of Jack Boyd and Patricia (Seals) Boyd.

Dottie loved the outdoors. She enjoyed camping, fishing and walks in the woods to hunt for mushrooms. She liked listening to country music. During her younger years she lived in Allendale, Illinois and attended school there. Dottie was a homemaker and loved her family deeply. Her grandchildren brought great joy to her heart. She will be deeply missed.

Dottie will be remembered by her daughters, Tara Osmon (Victor) Provines of Sumner, Illinois, Jackie Campbell of Princeton, Indiana; six grandchildren, Halli & Hanna Fair, Trenton & Maddi Campbell, Arabella & Tristian Lewis; sisters, Tricia Boyd, Kimberly Lafferty; brother, Brian Boyd; several nieces and nephews and special friend Kerby Anderson.

Dottie was preceded in death by her parents; son, Dustin Osmon; brothers, Ronald “Bub” Boyd and Kevin Boyd.

Family and friends may gather for a Memorial Visitation from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Monday, May 7, 2018 in the Chapel of Keepes Funeral Home.

Kevin B. Morris, 64

Kevin B. Morris, 64, of Carmi, IL passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Oakview Heights Continuous Care and Rehab surrounded by the love of his family. He was born January 11, 1954 in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Everett Morris and Louise (Bowman) Morris.

Kevin was employed as a dietary aid at Carmi Manor Nursing Home in Carmi, Illinois. He loved keeping up with many types of sports. Kevin was a huge Saint Louis Cardinals baseball follower and also enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes football team. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He will be dearly missed.

Kevin will be remembered by his two sons, Aaron (Chasity) Morris of Allendale, IL and Ryne Morris of Mount Carmel, IL; two grandchildren, Jaxon and Bennett Morris; two brothers, Terry Morris of Stone Mountain, GA and Scott Morris of Batesville, IN.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents.

In Keeping with Kevin’s wishes, Cremation Rites will be accorded with a private family graveside service be held at a later date.
