My name is Alexa Price and I am 17 years old. I am entering my senior year at Mount Carmel High School and so excited to create new memories. This is my first year as a 4-H member, however, I have participated in the Wabash County Junior Fair most of my childhood. I’m a member of the Allendale Twisters, where I serve as the Vice President of our club. My 4-H projects are video editing, dog care, and horses I’ve been riding horses since I was 3 years old and my favorite events are barrels and poles. We often travel to horse shows around the tri-state area, but my favorite has always been the Wabash County Junior Fair/4-H Horse Show. Volleyball is another hobby of mine. I played for 6 years when I lived in Missouri and now I enjoy assistant coaching with Youth In Action and The Allendale Yellow Jackets. I am currently employed with Mount Carmel City Pool, where I work concessions. I also intern at Silvernale Photography, where I am learning how to do photo editing and help manage social media. Madisyn Etheridge

My name is Madisyn Etheridge and I want to be your 2019 Wabash County Fair Princess. I am the daughter of Nate and Natalie Stevenson and John and Christy Etheridge. This is my fourth year being involved in the Junior Fair. I am participating in the fair princess contest because I think it will be a lot of fun and I wanted to try something new. Now, a few things about me. In my spare time, you will find me on the farm working with and training my horse, MoMo. I have been working hard to become a great barrel racing team with MoMo. This fair season, I hope to shave a couple seconds off my fastest barrel racing time. My goal is to eventually teach him to do liberty work. Hopefully someday I will own my own horses and live on a farm to raise livestock. Along with horseback riding, I stay involved in my school and church activities. I am starting my third year as an MCJHS cheerleader. We cheer for junior high football and basketball games. This year, I was selected as a UCA all-American cheerleader. I am an active member in the youth group at Parkview Christian Church. I also volunteer in our church nursery. My family and friends are an important part of my life. We enjoy spending time at our family cabin at Mesa Lake. We also like taking family vacations. One of my favorite trips, as a family, was visiting my cousins in Germany. I would like to thank Wabash General Hospital for their generosity in sponsoring me.

Hello my name is Raven Adams and I am the 13-year-old daughter of Jenny and Kevin Adams. I am a member of the Allendale Twisters 4-H Club. Some of my interest include art and the K-Pop group BTS, along with other K-Pop artists. Some of my current and future goals include being involved in a foreign exchange student program like another local student Maddie Merritt has become involved in. Following along with her travels has sparked my interest in foreign countries and learning about other cultures. One country I would like to visit would be South Korea. I find them interesting and am reading a book to learn some of their language and customs. Something others may not know about me is that I come from a big family. I have four brothers and three sisters. I am the sixth one if going in order. I also enjoy sewing. I learned from my granny when I was seven and have loved it ever since. I am currently working on pillows which are one of my junior fair projects. I want to be part of this competition because I love 4-H and I want to not only represent my club but my community. I would like to thank my sponsor MackPhotography.

2019 Ag Days Layout To Significantly Change

This summer’s Ag Day festival in Mt. Carmel will have a decidedly different look than those in years past. Chamber of Commerce executive director Lesley Hipsher said she had taken recommendations from Mt. Carmel Fire Commissioner Rod Rodriguez into consideration in revamping the layout of this year’s 4-day street festival. Among the changes is opening the 3rd Street intersection for a fire lane. In the past, rides had blocked that intersection making it impossible for fire trucks to get through in the event of an emergency.

Another change is moving the Chamber’s lemon shake-up stand from the 4th Street intersection to in front of Vintage Collections. Also, the main stage that had been at 4th and Market Street is being done away with. All this year’s entertainment will be moved to the new stage and pavilion in Merchants Park.

Ag Days is set for July 31st through August 3rd. To allow for setup of the event, The 300 and 400 blocks of Market Street will close at 1pm on Tuesday, July 30th.
