Illegally Parked Vehicle Leads To FTA Arrest

11/05/2018-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 59 year old Terry L. Paris of Mt. Carmel after police went to his residence in reference to an illegally parked vehicle.  While on scene police were notified that Paris was wanted on a Wabash County failure to appear warrant.  Paris was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was held pending the posting of $200 cash bond.

Two Arrested On Various Charges At Division Street Apartments

11/05/2018-Mt. Carmel Police arrested two individuals at 203 N. Division Street in Mt. Carmel.  Police were looking for witnesses when they noticed a strong cannabis  smell coming from one of the apartments.  Police were allowed into the residence where they observed drug paraphernalia and other drug items sitting out in plain view.  As police were speaking with the occupants a male subject fell out of a closet.  Police identified that subject as 28 year old Eric W. Patton of Mt. Carmel.  However, Patton at first provided the officer's with a fictitious name.  Patton was arrested for obstruction of justice.  It was later discovered that Patton was wanted on an Adams County Mississippi warrant.  Patton was transported to the Wabash County Jail.  Police also arrested 33 year old Tabetha E. Pohl of Mt. Carmel.  Pohl was transported to the Wabash County Jail and charged with obstructing justice, possession of a hypodermic needle, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Pohl is being held in the Wabash County Jail pending the posting of bond.

Driver Picked Up On Suspended License Charge

11/07/2018-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 34 year old Crystal D. Adams of Mt. Carmel after police stopped her in the 700 block of W. 3rd Street for driving while license is suspended.  Adams was  arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was cited for driving while license is suspended.  Adams was released after posting $150.00 cash bond.

Mt. Carmel Man Arrested For Aggravated Domestic Battery

11/07/2018-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 40 year old Daniel R. Caddell of Mt. Carmel after police were able to obtain an arrest warrant charging him with aggravated domestic battery.  MCPD investigated a domestic abuse allegation that is said to have occurred on November 1, 2018.  The victim in the case had to be treated for injuries sustained in the reported abuse.  Police located Caddell in the 200 block of E. 8th Street and placed him under arrest.  Caddell is being held in the Wabash County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond warrant.

School Disaster Drill Next Week At MCHS

On November 16, 2018, there will be a school disaster drill taking place at the Mt. Carmel High School.  The scenario will start shortly after students have been released for the day.  On that day the students will be releasing at noon with the scenario starting around 12:30. 

The Mt. Carmel Police, the Wabash County Sheriff’s Office, District 348 employees, Mt. Carmel Fire, WEMA, Wabash General Hospital, and the Illinois State Police will be participating in this drill.  It is expected that the area around the Mt. Carmel High School will be congested and motorists are encouraged to avoid the area around this time period.  The scenario is expected to last approximately 3 hours.

Two-Vehicle Crash Claims the Life of Haubstadt Woman

Gibson County – At approximately 10:04 this morning a two vehicle crash on US 41 at C.R. 100 West claimed the life of a Haubstadt woman.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Thomas Lee Sowders, 65, of Owensboro, KY, was driving a 2004 Peterbilt tractor-trailer northwest on US 41 approaching C.R. 100 West. Elena Williams, 45, of Haubstadt, was driving her 2005 Toyota Corolla south on C.R. 100 West when she pulled into the path of the semi. After impact, the Toyota Corolla came to a final rest in the median. The semi came to a final rest in the passing lane north of the intersection.

Williams was transported to Gibson General Hospital in Princeton where she died from her injuries. Sowders was taken to Deaconess Gateway where he is currently being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Elena V. Williams, 45, Haubstadt, IN (Family has been notified)

At this time, investigating troopers are unable to determine which driver had the green traffic light.

The investigation is on-going.

CERTIFIED NURSE AIDE CLASS OFFERED SPRING SEMESTER AT WVC

Individuals interested in employment as a Certified Nurse Aide should inquire now about a class being offered during the Spring Semester. Spring CNA class will start on January 7, 2019 at Wabash Valley College. The Certified Nurse Aide class will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:00 – 5:15 p.m. in the Science Building Room 58, from January 7, 2019 through April 17, 2019. Pre-registration is required.
