Man Arrested On Criminal Sexual Abuse Charge

On 03/26/2018, at approximately 5:40 am,  Mt. Carmel Police were called to the 1200 block of Walnut Street reference an unwanted person inside of the residence.  When police arrived on scene, the complainant advised she found 20 year old William L. Catt inside the bedroom of her 15 year old daughter.  Catt was initially arrested for criminal trespass to a residence and transported to the Wabash County Jail.  Further investigation resulted in Catt being charged with one count of criminal sexual abuse of a person between the age of 13-17.  

Catt was currently out on bond awaiting sentencing in a 2017 Wabash County case where he was convicted of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a person between the age of 13-17.  Catt is currently being held in the Wabash County Jail without bond.

Man Jailed On Domestic Battery Charge

On 3/19/18 Mt. Carmel Police arrested Kyle E. Leek, age 19, of Mt. Carmel, for Domestic Battery following a call to the apartments at 1230 N Walnut Street for a domestic dispute.  Officers found evidence that Leek had committed a battery to his girlfriend.  Leek was later located and placed under arrest.  Leek was transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged and held pending a bond setting by a judge.  Mt. Carmel Police were assisted by the Wabash County Sheriff’s Office.

Louisana Man Arrested For DUI By MCPD

On 3/22/18 Mt. Carmel Police arrested Samuel W. Robinson, age 72, of Winnsboro, LA, following a traffic stop on the Wabash River Bridge.  Robinson was found to have a suspended license and showed signs of impairment due to alcohol consumption.  Robinson submitted to field sobriety testing which indicated impairment to the officer.  Robinson was placed under arrest and transported to the Wabash County Jail.  Robinson was charged with DUI, Driving While License Suspended and Improper Lane Usage.  Robinson was later released on a $300.00 cash bond.

Man Arrested After Threatening To Kill MCPD Officers

On 3/23/18 Mt. Carmel Police arrested Timothy L. McKinney, age 36, of Mt. Carmel, following a complaint outside of the Wabash County Health Department.  McKinney was reportedly acting aggressive and unruly.  Officers arrived and found McKinney near the building.  Officers tried to assist McKinney but he refused and threatened to kill the officers.  McKinney was advised he was under arrest at which time he jerked away from the officers in an attempt to avoid arrest.  After a brief struggle McKinney was placed under arrest for Aggravated Assault and Resisting a Peace Officer.  McKinney was transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged and bond set at $2000.00 cash.  Mt. Carmel Police were assisted by the Wabash County Sheriff’s Office.

Mt. Carmel Woman Arrested On Weapons Charge

On 3/23/18 Mt. Carmel Police arrested Ladonna M. Crouch, age 55, of Mt. Carmel, following a traffic stop in the 200 block of West 11th Street.  Crouch consented to a search of her vehicle which resulted in officers locating a pink flashlight stun gun along with cannabis and drug paraphernalia.  Crouch was arrested for Unlawful Use of Weapons for the stun gun as well as ordinance violation citations for the cannabis and drug paraphernalia.  Crouch was transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was charged and later released on a $150.00 cash bond.

Traffic stop leads to arrest of Princeton man on multiple charges

On March 18, 2017, at 12:28 a.m. Gibson County Deputies stopped a Blue 1993 Chevy S10 on State Road 64 near County Road 725 E for failing to dim their headlights to oncoming traffic and failing to maintain its lane of travel. Upon approaching the vehicle the driver was identified as 24 year old Cody Stewart of Princeton. While speaking with Mr. Stewart deputies detected the odor of burnt Marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. At that point a roadside investigation was conducted that resulted in Mr. Stewart being transported to the Gibson County Jail. Upon arriving at the jail Mr. Stewart was charged with Carrying a Handgun without a License, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Methamphetamines, Possession of a Syringe, and Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated. He remains in custody on a $3,000 bond. 

Arresting Officer Deputy Ben Kiesel was assisted in his investigation by Deputy U.B. Smith.

Louisville man arrested for auto theft

On March 20, 2018, at 07:00 a.m. Gibson County Sheriff's Deputy Bryan Small was dispatched to the 400 block of North Hull Street in Fort Branch, Indiana to locate a Red 2015 Ford Fusion that was reported stolen out of Washington, Indiana. Upon arriving on scene Deputy Small located the vehicle and began an investigation into the theft of the vehicle. At the conclusion of his investigation 33 year old Andrew Lotspeich of Louisville, Kentucky was taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office. 

Upon arriving at the Gibson County Jail Mr. Lotspeich was charged with Auto Theft and remains in custody on a $750 bond.

Illinois woman arrested on Reckless Driving charge

On March 21, 2018, at 2:43 p.m. Gibson County Sheriff's Deputy U.B. Smith conducted a traffic stop on a Grey 2007 Chevy Equinox for traveling in excess of 110 mph on US 41 near Fort Branch, Indiana. Upon approaching the vehicle Deputy Smith identified the driver as 48 year old Amy Edwards of Paris, Illinois. After a roadside investigation Ms. Edwards was taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Jail. 

Upon arriving at the Gibson County Jail Ms. Edwards was charged with Reckless Driving. She has since posted a $900 bond.
