27-year-old Mark J. Newlin of Allendale was back in Wabash County Circuit Court this morning to face a charge of sexual exploitation of a child. During today’s brief appearance, a pre trial conference in the case was set for February 26th. It’s alleged that Newlin enticed a 14-year-old girl to Snap Chat him nude photos of herself last year. Newlin remains free on a $1,000 cash bond and is to have no contact with the alleged victim.
Glick Trial Date Set For March 5th
The Wabash County courtroom was a busy place today with a full docket of cases. Among them was a pre-trial conference for 31 year old Levi Glick who was charged last year in connection to a shooting in Bellmont. Glick faces two Class X felony counts of home invasion with a firearm along with a Class 3 felony count of possession of firearm by a felon. He has entered a not guilty plea to the charges and a jury trial was confirmed during today’s court appearance for March 5th. A final pretrial conference will be held on February 21st. During that September 21st altercation, Glick sustained a gunshot wound to the thigh while another person was shot in the foot. A preliminary charge of attempted murder was never formally filed against Glick.
Petersburg Domestic Dispute Turns Deadly, Indiana State Police Investigating
Petersburg – Last night at approximately 11:05, the Pike County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call regarding a shooting that had occurred at 306 North 10th Street. When officers arrived at the residence they discovered Brian White, 46, had been shot and was deceased. Preliminary investigation revealed White and his wife were engaged in a physical confrontation when White allegedly reached for a nearby handgun. His wife also grabbed the handgun and after a brief struggle, she was able to take control of the handgun and shot her husband in self-defense. She then left the residence and ran to a nearby location for help.
An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.
This is an on-going investigation and additional information will be released when available.
The Pike County Prosecutor’s Office will review the investigation when it’s completed.

Arrest Warrant Leads to Additional Drug Arrests
Vanderburgh County – Friday evening, January 19, Indiana State Police responded to 1101 North Spring Street in Evansville to serve arrest warrants on Kelli Vollmer, 39. She had active warrants out of Gibson and Vanderburgh Counties. While arresting Vollmer, troopers observed additional criminal activity inside the residence. Troopers obtained a search warrant and later discovered methamphetamine, a lookalike substance and drug paraphernalia. The homeowners, Randall and Joanne Ubelhor, were arrested for various drug offenses. All three individuals were taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail where they are currently being held on bond. This is an ongoing investigation.

Fort Branch Couple Arrested for Dealing Meth
Gibson County – Friday night at approximately 7:30, troopers responded to a residence located at 8103 Angelia Drive in Fort Branch to serve an arrest warrant on Christopher J. Worland, 39. An arrest warrant had been issued for Worland’s arrest for Invasion of Privacy, a Class 6 Felony. When troopers arrived two males and one female exited the residence. They were identified as Christopher Worland, 39, Billie Jo Cain, 38, and Kevin M. Trent, 27. Troopers discovered that Cain had an active arrest warrant out of Posey County for driving while intoxicated. Trent was wanted out of Vanderburgh County for failure to appear for a misdemeanor offense. Trent was visiting Worland and Cain.
During a search of the residence troopers found multiple small baggies containing meth, two syringes loaded with meth, small amount of marijuana and multiple drug paraphernalia items. Worland and Cain were arrested and taken to the Gibson County Jail where they are currently being held on bond. Trent was arrested and taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail for his warrant.

A Washington Man was arrested on Multiple Charges Friday following a Single Vehicle Crash
Daviess County: On Friday at approximately 12:08 pm Trooper Jarrod Lents responded to the report of a one vehicle crash with injuries on CR 500 E south of CR 600 S. When Trooper Lents arrived he observed a two-toned silver/maroon Dodge Ram off of the east side of the roadway. There was no one immediately around the vehicle, however, Trooper Lents observed three people walking north on CR 500 E, approximately a quarter mile north of the crash scene. He left the scene to talk to the people that were walking. When he arrived with them he noticed that a female had a large and deep cut above her eye and was bleeding down her face. She was also being supported by the other two people. Trooper Lents had her sit down and provided her gauze so she could apply pressure to the wound and waited for EMS to check her out. A juvenile female appeared to be uninjured and Trooper Lents could smell the strong odor alcohol coming the male, Rhett W. Truelove, 41 Washington. When Trooper Lents began asking questions about the crash, Truelove became uncooperative.
Through the investigation Lents was able to determine that Truelove was the driver of the Dodge when it crashed and that he was intoxicated. Also during the investigation methamphetamine, and items commonly associated with drug use were located. He was taken into custody and charged with the following charges.

2) Leaving the Scene of an Injury Accident, Level 6 felony
3) Operating while Intoxicated with Minor Passenger, Level 6 felony

Truelove was taken to the Daviess County Jail and turned over to the jail staff. The injured female was airlifted to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Evansville and treated for her head injuries. The third passenger, a juvenile, was uninjured and was released to family.
The 1997 Dodge was removed from the scene by G and M Wrecker service.

Report of stranded motorist leads to arrest of two on trespassing charges
On January 20, 2018, at approximately 10:42 a.m. Sergeant Bruce L. Vanoven was dispatched to the 13000 block of East 275 South in rural Oakland City in reference to a stranded vehicle on private property. The caller advised dispatch that they were unsure if the people were allowed to be on the property or not. Upon arriving Sgt. Vanoven found 29 year old Kesha Hooper of Princeton and 32 year old Joshua Green of Oakland City on the property. With the assistance of Oakland City Chief Tim Gaines and Gibson County Sergeant Tim Coomer an investigation was conducted that resulted in both Ms. Hooper and Mr. Green being placed into custody and transported to the Gibson County Jail. At the Gibson County Jail Ms. Hooper and Mr. Green were charged with Criminal Trespassing. Both individuals remain in custody on a $650 bond.

ILLINOIS STATE POLICE TROOPERS SAVE TWO MOTORISTS LIVES IN SEPARATE DRUG OVERDOSE INCIDENTS
Illinois State Police (ISP) Troopers are being credited with saving the lives of two motorists from drug overdose incidents on January 18, 2018, in Winnebago and Madison Counties.
At 9:30 a.m., an ISP Trooper responded to a motorist assist on the ramp from I-270 Eastbound to I-255 Southbound in Madison County. The Trooper arrived and found an unresponsive male with decreased respirations in the driver’s seat. The Trooper administered two doses of NARCAN before the victim became responsive. The driver and passenger who also appeared to be under the influence of Illegal drugs were transported to a local area hospital for treatment.
At 2:54 p.m., two ISP Troopers responded to a Winnebago County call of a female subject overdosing in a vehicle in the Mosey's Liquor parking lot located at 4203 W. State Street, Rockford, Illinois. The Troopers arrived and observed a bystander pulling a 20-year-old female from the vehicle. The Troopers assessed the patient had no pulse and was not breathing. The Troopers administered NARCAN and performed CPR on the female victim. The female's pulse and breathing was restored. EMS arrived and transported the victim to a local area hospital for treatment.
“I am extremely proud of the quick, lifesaving actions taken by our Troopers,” said ISP Director Leo P. Schmitz. “Two people are alive today due to the Troopers’ outstanding work, First Responder Training, and their having the necessary lifesaving tools available.”
ISP began training and issuing NARCAN to Troopers in 2015. There have been 25 documented saves using NARCAN since the inception of the program; 2015: 1 save, 2016: 6 saves, 2017: 16 saves, and 2018: 2 saves.

PRELIMINARY: According to the preliminary traffic crash investigation, the driver of the 2004 Ford passenger car, Danielle P. Steiner, was northbound on Illinois Route 34, just north of Webber Cemetery Road, when for unknown reasons she crossed the center line into the southbound lane. A 1998 International truck, driven by Marshall W. Cissna, was southbound on Illinois Route 34 and was unable to avoid the Ford passenger car, striking it on the driver’s side door.
Steiner was pronounced deceased at the scene of the traffic crash by the Saline County Coroner’s Office. Cissna did not receive any injuries as a result of the traffic crash.
An ISP Crash Reconstruction Officer (CRO) has been assigned to assist with the crash investigation. ISP District 19 was assisted at the crash scene by the Saline County Sheriff’s Department, Saline County Ambulance Service, Saline County Coroner’s Office, Galatia Police Department, Galatia Fire/Rescue, Jones’ Towing Service, and Vernell’s Towing Service.
