Mt. Carmel Woman Taken To Jail For Driving Suspended & No Insurance

11/04/2018-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 24 year old Ashton T. Reed of Mt. Carmel after she was observed operating a 2001 Ford on a suspended license.  Reed was stopped and placed under arrest for driving while suspended.  Reed was transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was cited for driving while suspended and operating a motor vehicle while uninsured.  Reed was held pending the posting of bond.   MCPD was assisted by the Wabash County Sheriff's Office.

Driver Faces Various Charges After Traffic Stop

11/04/2018-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 56 year old Janet S. McGill of Mt. Carmel after police observed her operating a 2012 Honda in the 900 block of W. 9th Street.  The arresting officer knew McGill was driving on a suspended Indiana driver's license.  The arresting officer initiated a vehicle stop and placed McGill under arrest.  During the arrest police located suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.  McGill was transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was charged with driving while license is suspended, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine, and illegal use of property.  McGill is being held pending the setting of bond. MCPD K9 Ace assisted in the traffic stop.

Grayville Woman Arrested By MCPD On Various Charges

11/02/2018-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 28 year old Ashley Murphy of Grayville after the vehicle she was a passenger in was stopped by Mt. Carmel Police.  K-9 Ace indicated to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle therefore a search of the vehicle was conducted.  Police located a used hypodermic needle and prescription pills inside of the vehicle.  It was also discovered that Murphy was wanted on a White County failure to appear warrant.  Murphy was transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a hypodermic needle and she was served the White County warrant.  Murphy was held pending the posting of bond.

Mt. Carmel Man Arrested On Indiana DOC Warrant

11/01/2018-Mt. Camel Police arrested 35 year old Justin M. Gourley of Mt. Carmel after police saw him in a vehicle on South Walnut Street.  The arresting officer knew Gourley was wanted on an Indiana Department of Corrections warrant.  Police stopped the vehicle and placed Gourley under arrest.  Gourley was transported to the Wabash County Jail and held pending transfer to Indiana.

Bellmont Incident Results In Woman Arrested & Search For Man Who Fled Scene

On Wednesday at 1:45pm, the Wabash county Sheriff's office responded to 109 N..Church St. In Bellmont in reference to an open line phone call that sounded like people were fighting and crying.

Subsequently 36 year old Jennifer Swift a/k/a Perry, was taken into custody for an outstanding Illinois Department of Corrections warrant with an additional Wabash County warrant.

Additionally 36 year old Nathan G. "Nate" Jackson fled the scene. Jackson is wanted on an outstanding warrant from St.Clair County. Any information on Jackson's whereabouts should be directed to the Wabash County Sheriff's Office, or Wabash County Crimestoppers.

Vote YES On WGH Ballot Referendum

When Wabash County voters go to the polls Tuesday, they’ll find a question at the end of the ballot regarding Wabash General Hospital.

The question relates to WGH’s ability to purchase property outside of Wabash County, which is now prohibited by state mandate. WGH CEO Jay Purvis has been making the rounds to local groups explaining the ballot question by beginning each presentation saying that taxes will not be increased in any way by the referendum. He talked with us about the specifics of the referendum and what it entails….

Mt. Carmel Man Picked Up On FTA Warrant

10/26/2018-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 20 year old Austin M. Knust of Mt. Carmel after police observed him walking in the area of 2nd and Poplar Street.  The arresting officer knew that Knust was wanted on a Wabash County failure to appear warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia.  Knust was taken into custody and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was held pending the posting of bond.

Barking Dog Leads To FTA Arrest

10/28/2018- Mt. Carmel Police arrested 24 year old Cory J. Walker of Mt. Carmel of Mt. Carmel after police responded to the 600 block of Copp Street in reference to a barking dog.  Police located the barking dog at 627 Copp Avenue.  Police knew that Walker lived at this residence and that he had a failure to appear warrant out of Wabash County.  Walker was placed under arrest and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was held pending the posting of bond.

Golconda Man Picked Up On Drug Charge On Market Street

10/28/2018-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 63 year old Danny J. Martin of Golconda after police were called to the 300 block of N. Market Street in reference to possible drug activity.  Police located Martin and another subject sitting along the wall at 321 N. Market Street.  Police advised that Martin had suspected hydrocodone pills in his sock and that he admitted to providing a female one of his pills.  Martin was arrested and charged with delivery of a controlled substance.  Martin was held pending the posting of bond.  MCPD was assisted by the Wabash County Sheriff's Office.

Possible Burglary Investigation Leads To Traffic Charges Against Mt. Carmel Man

10/29/2018 -Mt. Carmel Police arrested 55 year old John W. Clancy of Mt. Carmel after police conducted an investigative stop on a vehicle in the 400 block of Oak Street.  Police were investigating a possibly burglary and the vehicle Clancy was driving matched the description given by the witness.  During the traffic stop it was discovered that Clancy was driving on a suspended driver's license.  Clancy admitted to being at the residence where the suspected burglary took place but denied taking anything.  Police arrested Clancy and transported him to the Wabash County Jail where he was cited for driving while license is suspended and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.  Police were unable to determine if a burglary actually occurred at the residence so no charges were filed in regards to that complaint.
